News Report Commentary
[our highlights]

As you may recall, on the June 29th post (1) we closed our commentaries about the IMF's new and very dark forecasts for the economy of Spain as follows:

If the Markets, specifically those associated with Spain and its sovereign debt, do not take a dive on Monday, July 30th, we will know that the IMF has entered into rigor mortis.

Now, take a look at how the markets of the whole of Europe closed on Monday, June 30th (2):

Index Country % Change Last Update
FTSE 100 England +1.18% 1:05pm ET
Euronext 100 Europe +1.27% 12:05pm ET
CAC 40 France +1.24% 12:05pm ET
DAX Germany +1.27% 12:30pm ET
Swiss Market Index Switzerland +0.62% 11:31am ET

And how specifically the Spanish Market closed on Monday, June 30th (3):

Index: IBEX 35   Country: Spain   % Change  +2.78%  Last Update 11:38pm ET

Indeed, the credibility and influence of the IMF seems to have been neutralized and the only thing left for Ms. Lagarde to do now is defer to the two controlling members of the Troika, who belong to the opposing  Saviors of the World (4) faction.

The overall score, from what we can see so far, is: The Opus Dei faction of the Saviors of the World: 0
The other two factions of the Saviors of the World: 4 (5)

Of course, the question is: When will the Opus Dei faction play its win-all (they think) or loose-all (we know) card.

The leader of the Damas de Blanco also died recently from natural causes (?); and (d) Only two nominal Catholic countries of the original European Union block, Spain and Italy, have not been fully intervened by the Troika yet.... but it should not be long.

Pembroke Opus Dei center ready "to change the world". (1)

While Hollywood pushes ups and downs in their narrative on the subject of Opus Dei, The Work continues undaunted at Arnold Hall in Pembroke.

At the out-of-the-way center, Opus Dei in Boston provides Catholic formation and programs to bolster what is sometimes called The Work begun by the Spaniard St. Josemaria Escriva in 1928.

One supernumerary  said negative portrayal in film dealt the organization more of a boost than a blow.

"Hollywood did us a big favor frankly," said Peter Buckley, 50, an investment advisor whose entire family of six children and his wife participate in Opus Dei.

Most members of Opus Dei are supernumeraries, as were most members of the group speaking with The Pilot at Arnold Hall.

The 100-acre facility has classrooms, dining facilities, a shrine dedicated to Mary, walking paths, a lake, and a chapel. Non-members can also do retreats at Arnold Hall.

miguel de Portugal comments: Isn't it amazing that none of them have realized yet that their program is a failure since their "mother country", Spain, which is infected to the core with Opusdeism, has drifted so far from God that whatever true religion they practiced in the past has been turned into purely social affairs.

Where else there are "First Communion" celebrations without a visit to a Church and no communion? Where else a very large number of couples do not even have a civil ceremony to mark their union and just move in together as a couple? Where else do you see individuals actually suing the Church to have the names removed from their Baptismal records? Where else will you find an extreme right dictator, Franco, who finally distanced himself from them because they "were just too much" even for him?

This, brethren, is how brainwashed are those who believe that Escriva is "The Father" and his pamphlet, upon which the Opus Dei "wisdom" is based, is "The Way".

Such is their fruit, a fruit about which our Lord Jesus Christ clearly pronounced Himself almost 2,000 years ago:

[16] By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? [17] Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit. [18] A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit. [19] Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be cut down, and shall be cast into the fire [Matthew 7]

They will never know what hit them when "The End" (2) of "Their Way" (3) flashes on their virtual screens.

U.S. sees Israel, tight Mideast ally, as a spy threat. (1)

The CIA station chief opened the locked box containing the sensitive equipment he used from his home in Tel Aviv, Israel, to communicate with CIA headquarters in Virginia, only to find that someone had tampered with it. He sent word to his superiors about the break-in.

The incident, described by three former senior U.S. intelligence officials, might have been dismissed as just another cloak-and-dagger incident in the world of international espionage, except that the same thing had happened to the previous station chief in Israel.

It was a not-so-subtle reminder that, even in a country friendly to the United States, the CIA was itself being watched.

In a separate episode, according to another two former U.S. officials, a CIA officer in Israel came home to find the food in the refrigerator had been rearranged. In all the cases, the U.S. government believes Israel's security services were responsible.

Such meddling underscores what is widely known but rarely discussed outside intelligence circles: Despite inarguable ties between the U.S. and its closest ally in the Middle East and despite statements from U.S. politicians trumpeting the friendship, U.S. national security officials consider Israel to be, at times, a frustrating ally and a genuine counterintelligence threat.

In addition to what the former U.S. officials described as intrusions in homes in the past decade, Israel has been implicated in U.S. criminal espionage cases and disciplinary proceedings against CIA officers and blamed in the presumed death of an important spy in Syria for the CIA during the administration of President George W. Bush.

miguel de Portugal comments: When one considers how Opus Dei has infected the CIA (2) and the FBI (3) and how Opus Dei really view "Jews", Israel caution makes sense.

Spain's unprecedented double-dip recession will last for at least a further 18 months and poses a threat to the rest of Europe, the International Monetary Fund said.

Predicting a lost decade of growth for the eurozone's fourth biggest economy, the Washington-based Fund said the outlook was "very difficult" and that the fresh austerity measures announced by the government of prime minister Mariano Rajoy would have "a significant impact on growth".

The above information with great (and very dark and depressing) details almost eclipsed the Spanish (and the rest of Europe) news reports about the beginning of the London Olympics.

Now  we will have the opportunity to see if the IMF credibility was indeed mortally wounded by the resigning key member of the IMF Staff - Peter Doyle - who accused the IMF leadership of being 'tainted', as we reported in this same Forum on July 23rd.

If the Markets, specifically those associated with Spain and its sovereign debt, do not take a dive on Monday, July 30th, we will know that the IMF has entered into rigor mortis.

If not, sit back and wait for the next massive attack against the IMF credibility.

Rise is seen in cyberattacks targeting the U.S. (1)

The top American military official responsible for defending the United States against cyberattacks said Thursday that there had been a 17-fold increase in computer attacks on American infrastructure between 2009 and 2011, initiated by criminal gangs, hackers and other nations.

The assessment by Gen. Keith B. Alexander, who heads the National Security Agency and also the newly created United States Cyber Command, appears to be the government’s first official acknowledgment of the pace at which America’s electricity grids, water supplies,

Computer and cellphone networks and other infrastructure are coming under attack. Those attacks are considered potentially far more serious than computer espionage or financial crimes.

miguel de Portugal comments: More for "The Security of It All" file.

Our purpose for publishing this kind of information is to help those who are still on a slumber to "snap out of it" and be ready for "the crash". Think of it in this way:

If you are on an airplane which is in trouble and has to make a forced landing, would you want to be notified by the captain about the impending crash-landing and what steps you should take to minimize the personal damages (suffering) or do you prefer to be surprised?

That is what these News Commentary postings are all about. What we announced worldwide back in 1993, via postal service, and in cyberspace since 1998, is being manifested in such a way that it is mostly history as opposed to what it originally was - prophecy. To wit:

Details

The Steps are simple. We will keep them general so as to accommodate the corrections of course that the "saviors of the world" may deem necessary as the plan is implemented.

Step 1: The whole world, country by country is brought into great turmoil. Propitiated by political, financial, ethnic or religious confrontations or whatever is the best means in each country to achieve the desired purpose: Generalized chaos.

In Summary: "Bring the world up to its boiling point". [Does this "ring a bell"?]

Step 2: A nuclear conflagration will be started through one of the many dangerously unstable nations throughout the world. The nation to be used as the "trigger" will be changed many times before the non stoppable chain reaction commences.

Step 3: This will lead to complete global chaos - wars, revolutions, financial collapses, religious upheavals and persecutions with the intent of an eventual world wide domination by the humanist ideology spawned by the Soviets for decades.

In essence, Step 3 sets the stage for the eventual manifestation of the False Christ (2). The remaining fast-moving Steps may be better understood by prayerfully reviewing Biblical Texts which describe The General Sequence of Events Leading to the End of These Times. (3)

The Spanish politicians and bankers, who are more interested in their careers and investments than in the poor average Spaniard, who, after being  robbed by them now have to pay for it, do not have the slightest clue as to what to do to resuscitate an economy which is already in rigor mortis.

Their consolation seems to be that Portugal and Greece are in worse shape - beyond rigor mortis and into the decomposition state.

Draghi: We'll Do What's Needed To Save The Euro (1)

European Central Bank Chief Mario Draghi says policymakers will do what's needed to save the euro.

European Central Bank President Mario Draghi says policymakers will do what's needed to keep the union's common currency. The remarks signal that they may step into bond markets where prohibitively high borrowing costs threaten Spain and Italy.

"To the extent that the size of these sovereign premia hamper the functioning of the monetary policy transmission channel, they come within our mandate," Draghi said in a speech in London today, according to Bloomberg. "Within our mandate, the ECB is ready to do whatever it takes to preserve the euro...believe me, it will be enough."

"Draghi's comments that the central bank is prepared to do whatever needed within its mandate to preserve the euro are giving a boost to risky assets and the euro," says Barclays economist Barry Knapp. "Boosting fire power may be required to stabilize peripheral funding pressures, but it may take further market stress for member countries to agree."

U.S. blue chips yesterday snapped a three-day losing streak, and are poised to open higher this morning. Dow Jones industrial average futures gained 109 points. S&P 500 futures rallied 15.3 points. And Nasdaq futures climbed 33.5 points.

miguel de Portugal comments: The faction of the Threesome of Saviors to which Mr. Draghi belongs succeeded in getting the situation where it is now so that they can be justified in doing "....whatever it takes to preserve the Euro..." and saying "believe me, it will be enough".

The Markets went into a "wild euphoria" just on such statement. No concrete plans - just words.

How easily the blind and deaf can be manipulated!

There is just "one little problem", Mr. Draghi.... The other two factions of the Threesome of Saviors are also going to do "whatever it takes" so that their program prevails.

Stand back, folks, and watch the fireworks!

Vatican faulted on anti-terrorism banking laws. (1)

Overall, report deems Holy See has made good progress on financial transparency.

The Vatican has eked out an overall passing grade in a key European financial transparency test, but received failing marks for the effectiveness of its new financial watchdog agency and its ability to shut down potential terrorist money laundering.

The Council of Europe report released Wednesday marked a milestone in the Holy See's efforts to shed its reputation as a shady tax haven long mired in secrecy and scandal and move onto the so-called white list of countries that share financial information.

In the areas found lacking, the report found that the city state's new financial oversight agency, created in 2010, had yet to conduct any inspections, and that its role, authority and independence needed clarification.

Another major area singled out for improvement was in putting into operation UN anti-terrorism conventions, which require the Vatican keep a list of terror suspects and show how it can freeze and confiscate terrorist assets. The Vatican scored partially compliant and noncompliant, respectively.

miguel de Portugal comments: Just "cosmetic surgery".

Imagine! The Council of Europe evaluating the Vatican banking transparency, when the financial state of that same Europe, which is making the evaluation, is in shambles.

Forecasters say Solar Max is due in the year 2013. (1)

When it arrives, the peak of 11-year sunspot cycle will bring more solar flares, more coronal mass ejections, more geomagnetic storms and more auroras than we have experienced in quite some time.

On the weekend of July 14, 2012, sky watchers around the world got a taste of things to come.

It was mid-Saturday in North America when a coronal mass ejection or "CME" crashed into Earth's magnetic field and triggered the most sustained display of auroras in years.  For more than 36 hours, magnetic storms circled Earth's poles.  Northern Lights spilled across the Canadian border into the United States as far south as California, Colorado, Kansas, and Arkansas.  In the southern hemisphere, skies turned red over Tasmania and New Zealand, while the aurora australis pirouetted around the South Pole.

Leader of US Orthodox church quits amid rape claim. (1)

The leader of the Orthodox Church in America has resigned and been replaced amid questions about whether he failed to report to church officials or law enforcement an allegation of a rape by a priest and other sexual-misconduct claims.

The church issued a statement saying Metropolitan Jonah, the archbishop of Washington, submitted his resignation in a letter on July 6. The letter from Jonah noted the resignation had come at the request of the Holy Synod of Bishops. Jonah did not refer to the rape allegation in his letter.

Part of the letter to the bishops said he begged "forgiveness for however I have offended you, and for whatever difficulties have arisen from my own inadequacies and mistakes in judgment."

The church, based in Syosset, on Monday issued a three-page statement (2) detailing Jonah's four-year tenure as its leader. It said Jonah had failed to report a 2010 rape allegation involving an unidentified priest to authorities when he learned of it last February. The statement said in light of sex abuse scandals involving the Catholic Church and at Penn State University, "the risk of liability to which the Metropolitan has exposed the church can not be overstated."

It also said Jonah had "repeatedly refused to act with prudence, in concert with his fellow bishops" regarding the church's standards and procedures regarding sexual misconduct.

miguel de Portugal comments: How utterly refreshing.... or is it?  Look at the reasoning given by the Synod of Bishops for taking such swift action:

"....the risk of liability to which the Metropolitan has exposed the church can not be overstated."

Never mind the victim(s), just the church's (financial) exposure! Lord have Mercy!

They are certainly acting in a better way than the Roman Administrators, but their reasoning is shameful.

It may be of interest to our readers to review the official statement issued by the Holy Synod of Bishops (2) since there is more to Mr. Jonah that this particular incident.

US West Coast to receive dangerous levels of Fukushima radiation. (1)

Scientists fear that contaminated water from the Fukushima disaster is on course to America, and it could be more toxic than thought.

Researchers have released the findings of an intense study into the aftermath of last year's Fukushima nuclear disaster and warn that the United States isn't exactly spared just yet. In fact, scientists now fear that incredibly contaminated ocean waters could be reaching the West Coast of the US in a matter of only five years, and the toxicity of those waves could eventually be worse than what was seen in Japan.

"Within one year it will have spread over the entire western half of the North Pacific and in five years we predict it will reach the US West Coast." Claus Boning, co-author of the study, tells the website Environmentalresearchweb.

Boning adds that "The levels of radiation that hit the US coast will be small relative to the levels released by Fukushima," yet fails to exactly stand by that statement in the fullest. "But we cannot estimate accurately what those levels will be because we do not know for certain what was released by Fukushima," the doctor adds.

Feds say Dr. Drew Pinsky was paid by Glaxo (GSK) to promote antidepressant. (1)

Part of the case made by U.S. prosecutors that led to GlaxoSmithKline's $3 billion settlement today is that the company used a network of paid experts, speaking to doctors and to the press, to promote uses of its drugs that had not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. According to the Department of Justice's complaint, one of those paid experts was celebrity physician Dr. Drew Pinsky, then the host of the radio show Loveline, which was also being broadcast on MTV.

Pinsky has gone on to host Celebrity Rehab, Dr. Drew on HLN, and Dr. Drew's Lifechangers on the CW.

The government alleges that Pinsky was paid a total of $275,000 over just two months – March and April 1999 – to deliver messages about Wellbutrin SR, a Glaxo antidepressant, "in settings where it did not appear that Dr. Pinsky was speaking for GSK."

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) economist resigns in protest - Peter Doyle accuses IMF leadership of being 'tainted'. (1)

A veteran economist at the International Monetary Fund has resigned in protest at what he calls the IMF's failure to head off the global financial meltdown and euro zone crisis, and accused the global lender of suppressing information.

In a resignation letter dated June 18 to the IMF's board and senior staff, Peter Doyle said the IMF's failures to head off both the 2009 global financial crisis and the euro zone crisis was a "failing in the first order" and "are, if anything, becoming more deeply entrenched."

His letter, a copy of which was seen by Reuters, has brought to light simmering tensions within the IMF over the Fund's credibility, which many worry is threatened by its role in the euro zone crisis.

IMF insiders, who asked not to be identified, told Reuters there are concerns within the Fund that it has over-stretched by lending to Europe without exercising the same level of independent judgment it would normally apply in bailouts to emerging economies.

Doyle, a division chief for Sweden, Denmark and Israel in the IMF's European Department when he resigned, also accused the Fund's leadership of being "tainted" by a selection process which always ensures that a European is at the helm.

He said the IMF had been "playing catch-up and reactive roles in the last ditch efforts to save" the euro zone from the "brink." The IMF has participated in rescue loans to Greece, Ireland and Portugal.

miguel de Portugal comments: Now you will see what we mean with "having a front row seat" to the End of These Times "show".

On June 19th, on this same forum, I commented about the financial and political shenanigans going on with Europe (2). We quote:

Now with Greece, Portugal and Ireland in "their" pocket, "they" must make sure that Spain and Italy are both securely rounded up too. That will complete the total control of the key Catholic (if  mostly by name, but well infiltrated by Opus Dei) Western European nations which composed by the original European Union and Euro block.

So now the focus is to convince "the world" that Spain and Italy urgently need help; a help that they are most willing to offer as long as said countries accept the controlling "conditions".

Notice that the "they" term does not include the official governments of the countries in question, after all, they were genuinely hysterical about the Greek elections just like everyone else who was not "in the know".

Over a month later Spain has been made to look that is at the brink of bankruptcy, it has de-facto been intervened because of the massive bail-out loan made available to it and the European Bank, says "No!" to their pleas for help to stabilize the Markets. Italy will soon follow - the "wheels" are already well in motion.. Then all five key Catholic (if  mostly by name, but well infiltrated by Opus Dei) Western European nations will have been intervened.

When a European country is intervened in such manner, a group commonly called "The Troika", composed by a representative each from the European Central Bank, the European Commission and the IMF, will, in essence, monitor and control all financial activities of the controlled country.

As you may recall, this is part of the fight amongst the Threesome of Saviors (3) wherein, the European faction is trying to disable the Opus Dei plans to "Save the World" since they believe that their plan is better.

As you may also recall:

On June 25th, 2011, (5) in the Private FYI&R Forum, we stated:

At this time, Mrs. Christine Lagarde is the most likely replacement to the disgraced Mr. Dominique Strauss-Kahn (who is Jewish) as head of the all-powerful International Monetary Fund (IMF). If, as we suspect, she is "heavily influenced" by Opus Dei (if not an outright "card carrying" member), the remaining Jews in positions of power have their days in office numbered. That would indeed be something to worry about..... if there were enough time ahead of us.... which is not the case.

and

On October 25, 2011, (4) in the Private FYI&R Forum, we headlined:

Now that the Opus Dei friendly (if not outright member) Christine Lagarde has taken full control of the all powerful IMF (at the expense of D. Strauss-Kahn)...

Now, then.... let's recap.

(a) The European faction of the Saviors of the World are trying to neutralize the Opus Dei influence in the five Catholic Flagship Countries of the European Union by staging interventions of the countries by "The Troika".
(b) The Opus Dei faction brings down Jewish Socialist IMF Director Strauss-Kahn, who is part of the European Faction of the Saviors of the World, and managed to replace him with an Opus Dei friendly Christine Lagarde.

The proverbial "Houston we have a problem!" cry rings through the European power centers. They are about to place the five Opus Dei influenced European countries under the control of The Troika.... but one member of The Troika is now controlled by Opus Dei friendly Christine Lagarde's IMF!

Solution: A long time well respected economist from the IMF, Peter Doyle, bails out from the IMF with a major splash. Newly elected OD-friendly Ms. Lagarde is now scrambling for cover. The position of the IMF has been severely weakened by Mr. Doyle qualified damaging assertions.

Voila! Now they send sweet Christine to the kitchen to bake cookies while the remaining two members of The Troika, the European Central Bank and the European Commission, who are part of the European  Faction of the Saviors of the World, assume full control of the
five, Opus Dei influenced Catholic Flagship Countries of the European Union.

I am beginning to believe that all the key actors of this ongoing drama are truly ignorant of what is really going on. As we have often said: The true conspirator is satan who moves the key actors using the old carrot (greed and protagonism) on the stick trick.

Amazing!  Simply amazing!

Uniformed troops march in gay pride parade. (1)

The Defense Department allowed dozens of service members to march in in uniform in San Diego's gay pride parade.

Some of the loudest cheers Saturday at San Diego's gay pride parade were for active-duty troops marching in military dress, the first time that U.S. service members participated in such an event while in full uniform.

Dozens of soldiers, sailors, and Marines marched alongside an old Army truck decorated with a "Freedom to Serve" banner and a rainbow flag. They were joined by dozens more military personnel in civilian clothes, but the uniforms stood out among the flower-bedecked floats and scantily clad revelers.

miguel de Portugal comments:
This is one more (of the very, very few left) nail in our collective coffin.... and we would say the exactly same thing if it had been a straight pride parade. Anyone who have witnessed those parades knows well that what reigns in them is outright debauchery.

The sexual orientation is not the issue here; it is the level of immorality that usually accompanies such "pride parades".

I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing," declares the Lord.

"The days are coming," declares the Lord, "when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior. [Jeremiah 23:1-6]

Top Republicans denounce attack on Clinton aide. (1)

The top Republican in the Congress on Thursday criticized Representative Michele Bachmann and four other fellow House Republicans for making "pretty dangerous" accusations when they questioned the security clearance of a Muslim aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The comments of House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner came after Senator John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, blasted the five lawmakers for seeking an investigation into whether Huma Abedin, Clinton's deputy chief of staff, had connections to the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist political organization.

Boehner, speaking at a regular news briefing, said "accusations like this being thrown around are pretty dangerous." He said he did not know Abedin, but "from everything I know of her, she has a sterling character."

Bachmann defended her actions Thursday on the talk show of conservative host Glenn Beck. "If my family members were associated with Hamas, a terrorist organization, that alone could be sufficient to disqualify me from getting a security clearance," Bachmann said, according to a transcript of her remarks. "So all we did is ask, did the federal government look into her family associations before she got a high level security clearance."

miguel de Portugal comments: What we see here is a monumental error by Mrs. Clinton. Ms. Abedin could be a candidate for Beatification but, in today's political climate (national and international) and with high tech communication practically manipulating the world at will, appointing a Muslim to a high level governmental position is like using kerosene to douse a fire.

In a scenario where an individual on a no-fly list due to being a serious security risk can take flying lessons (2) after the 9-11 debacle, it is hard to criticize Mrs. Bachman, et al.

H1N1 Epidemic in Bolivia  (1)
An epidemic of H1N1 flu has infected almost 900 people and claimed 11 lives in Bolivia, health officials said Tuesday. Although most of the cases occurred in the last few weeks, the outbreak does not rise to the level of a national epidemic, officials said. "At the national level, the situation is under control.  Minister Martin Maturano also urged Bolivians to take precautions, such as eating well and frequently washing their hands. Bolivian authorities have not said whether the strain of the virus originated as swine or avian flu -- in other words whether it first spread to humans from pigs or birds. [...]

Children's deaths in Cambodia linked to Enterovirus. (1)

The Institut Pasteur in Cambodia has discovered Enterovirus Type 71 in about two-thirds of patients it tested after a mystery disease killed more than 60 children in the country, said the head of the institute's virology unit.

Enterovirus Type 71 (2) is a "perfect explanation" for the deaths, Philippe Buchy said by telephone today. "We can now focus on how to contain it," he said.

Contributor's comments:  A case has also been found in the Philippines.  Only one case, and no deaths yet.

It's too early to tell. But there may be a new variant of EV-71 causing the deaths.  This type of virus is extremely contagious, so it is a concern.

I have some useful information, however - since you once mentioned there may be third-world health ministry officials among your readership, they may want to be aware that there is a drug, not approved by the FDA yet, called Pleconaril that has proven to be effective against the Enterovirus. (3)

In the United States, in the past, there has been an exemption given for the use of Pleconaril, so that doctors may treat newborns who develop a severe enterovirus infection.  If things get out of hand, this avenue is something to pursue.

Fr. Jim Socias: St. Josemaria told me, love your family very much. (1)

Jim Socias, now a priest, recalls the counsel he received from Saint Josemaria after joining Opus Dei.

Comments: Considering the reliable testimonies (2) and reported actions by some members of the Roman Catholic Administration prohibiting minors from being proselytized by Opus Dei members, this must be the Farce of the Year delivered in the most convincing manner possible by Mr. Socias.

This is the same Socias who signed up to our Mailing List years ago without disclosing his Opus Dei association, the same one whom we had to report for having sent a virus laden e-mail years ago and the editor of the English (US) version of the Roman Missal.

What is truly ironic (and a test God gave miguel) was that, one day Mr. Socias made an e-mistake and his entire worldwide e-mailing list landed in our e-mail In Box. We say "a test" because we did not take advantage of it. Considering his camouflaged position, the list was a veritable Opus Dei Who Is Who list.

In vast effort, F.D.A. spied on e-mails of its own scientists. (1)

A wide-ranging surveillance operation by the Food and Drug Administration against a group of its own scientists used an enemies list of sorts as it secretly captured thousands of e-mails that the disgruntled scientists sent privately to members of Congress, lawyers, labor officials, journalists and even President Obama, previously undisclosed records show.

What began as a narrow investigation into the possible leaking of confidential agency information by five scientists quickly grew in mid-2010 into a much broader campaign to counter outside critics of the agency's medical review process, according to the cache of more than 80,000 pages of computer documents generated by the surveillance effort.

While they acknowledged that the surveillance tracked the communications that the scientists had with Congressional officials, journalists and others, they said it was never intended to impede those communications, but only to determine whether information was being improperly shared.

The agency, using so-called spy software designed to help employers monitor workers, captured screen images from the government laptops of the five scientists as they were being used at work or at home. The software tracked their keystrokes, intercepted their personal e-mails, copied the documents on their personal thumb drives and even followed their messages line by line as they were being drafted, the documents show.

Americans on no-fly list are allowed to recieve pilot training. (1)

U.S. citizens who are on the government's list of people banned from flying because they're considered terror threats are not prevented from learning how to fly in schools around the country, according to government regulations.

Such a person may have to drive across the country to learn how to fly a plane because he or she would likely be stopped from boarding a commercial airliner. But the security checks put in place after the 9/11 attacks will not keep the person from receiving pilot training.

The security loophole was raised during a hearing Wednesday to examine the Homeland Security Department's programs to screen foreigners who want to attend flight schools in the U.S. Some of the 9/11 hijackers were able to learn to fly in the U.S. while living in the country illegally.

The government put in several more layers of security after the attacks, and foreigners now receive criminal background checks and are screened against terror watch lists before they are allowed to begin training. U.S. citizens, however, are not subject to the same scrutiny.

An oil pipeline in Abu Dhabi that bypasses conventional transit lanes through the Strait of Hormuz was built for strategic reasons, a consultant said. (1)

The 263-mile oil pipeline from Abu Dhabi to a port on the Gulf of Oman loaded 500,000 barrels of oil from a refinery in Pakistan last weekend. Robin Mills, an analyst at Manaar Energy Consulting and Project Management in Dubai, told Bloomberg News the primary purpose of the pipeline was to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, which carries about 20 percent of the world's maritime oil shipments.

"It means that Abu Dhabi is just swallowing the cost of the pipeline, as it has been built for strategic reasons," said Mills. "If this was a commercial venture, they would have built it years ago."

Comments: Having taken away Iran's power to block 20 % of the world's maritime oil shipment, they may finally proceed to attack Iran.

The 267-page report released Thursday is the result of an eight-month inquiry by former FBI director Louis Freeh, hired by university trustees weeks after Sandusky was arrested in November to look into what has become one of sports' biggest scandals.

The report concluded that Paterno, president Graham Spanier, athletic director Tim Curley and vice president Gary Schultz "failed to protect against a child sexual predator harming children for over a decade."

"In order to avoid the consequences of bad publicity, the most powerful leaders at the university -- Spanier, Schultz, Paterno and Curley -- repeatedly concealed critical facts relating to Sandusky's child abuse," the report said.

Skype bug sends unintended recipients instant messages. (1)

Skype has confirmed a bug in its software has been sending copies of messages to unintended recipients. In the Skype support forums, "shocked" users had said private instant messages had been re-sent to other contacts.

Skype then admitted messages sent between two users were being copied to a third party, in  "rare circumstances". The net-calling firm said it was working on a fix for the bug, which appears to have been introduced in an update to Skype applied in June.

Some users said they would stop using the service because of the glitch. Skype said it hoped to put out a software update in the "next few days" to fix the problem. It said it would also prompt users to download and apply the update to prevent the problem spreading.

Skype lets people call each other via the net rather than traditional landlines or mobile networks. In September 2011, it said it had more than 600 million users. Earlier the same year it was acquired by Microsoft.

In May 2011 Skype suffered a global crash that knocked the service offline for a couple of  days. The crash was caused by a botched update.

miguel de Portugal responds: Just another reminder of how fragile is our privacy in the Internet Era. Also remember that "there are no free lunches", thus the question continues to be: Why would a company (Skype - Microsoft) give free unlimited worldwide phone service to 600 million people? Think!

I felt moved to share with you the recent news that G4S, in charge of security at the London Olympics, have failed in their role of recruiting enough security staff and hence the government are employing the military to fill the short fall. (1)

This coupled with the many, many, many scandalous stories about the Olympics, which should be a celebration of human physical endeavour, proves it has become the world's most corrupt, tax payer sponsored corporate advertising campaign for some of the world's worst companies.

But is there a possible even more evil agenda in the background?  Placing surface to air missiles on top of residential buildings and now, what amounts to an introduction of martial law by stealth!  It all looks like they are grooming the public to blindly accept the appearance of armed forces on the street for their own security, using the Olympics as a practice run.

I am not really surprised anymore by the actions of our self appointed "leaders", but am more and more horrified and sickened by the apathy of the people as the agenda become more and more obvious every day.

I am glad I felt moved to move out of London at the beginning of the year, as I could see this coming and wanted to be no where near the circus when it came to town.

Continued blessings to you and yours,

AS

miguel de Portugal responds:
Thank you for the news referral and your first hand report from across the Channel.

Maybe we can answer your question: "But is there a possible even more evil agenda in the background?" by sharing with you, and all, an experience we had just hours before we received your communication.

To keep track of what is really going on in the management of Spain's financial crisis, once a week we acquire the magazine TIEMPO (like the U.S. TIME magazine) which seems to be so even handed that I cannot say whether it favors the right or the left. In there one finds a summary of what transpired in the European and Spanish financial front during the past week in a coherent manner - without double talk.

As we were reviewing the weekly article on "Who did what, and to whom" in the Spanish financial scene, we came across a statement that almost flashed in red lights an "On Schedule" sign, just like what you are reporting did. The political/financial analyst of TIEMPO, quoting a financial computer simulation expert from within the Spanish government, writes (our translation and underscoring):

"The numbers are not going to give a respite until the year 2015, a year in which, under normal conditions, the next general elections should be held."

When, from the inside the government of an established Constitutional Monarchy, bureaucrats start conditioning the timing, or even  the occurrence, for the established schedule for the general elections, people should start taking note that something is "not right" - just as it is "not right" to place surface to air missiles on top of residential buildings in the middle of London and using the military to maintain law and order during a sports event.

Regarding your statement that the Olympics event "...has become the world's most corrupt, tax payer sponsored corporate advertising campaign for some of the world's worst companies." Look at what was done with Christianity in general and Marian Apparitions in particular. The greatest fund-raising scheme to enrich the few and subjugate most, while silencing both Jesus and Mary.

There is no doubt: "Mammon reigns supreme." Blessedly, his reign is just about to come to a crashing end.

One last general comment: We are glad that you moved out of London. Blessedly no one can interfere with the guidance given by the Holy Spirit of God to those who want it.

Defected Syrian envoy lashes out at Assad. (1)

Nawaf Fares, who this week defected as Syria's ambassador to Iraq, on Saturday accused President Bashar al-Assad of allowing Al-Qaeda to use Syria as a springboard for attacks in his former host country.

Fares, the latest high-level official to abandon Assad, in an interview on Al-Jazeera television also accused Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki of taking a stance toward Syria that was "contradictory" to the truth.

Majority Shiite Muslim Iraq had repeatedly accused Damascus of letting Sunni insurgents and arms transit through Syria to carry out attacks inside the country, especially during the brutal sectarian conflict that erupted after US-led forces toppled Saddam Hussein's regime in 2003.

Cheney: Romney the 'only' choice for handling foreign policy crisis. (1)

Former Vice President Dick Cheney told Republican fundraisers Thursday night that Mitt Romney is the "only" man who can make the right decisions in unexpected foreign policy crises.

The presumptive 2012 Republican presidential nominee called Cheney a "great American leader" -- and didn't mention former President George W. Bush in a 20-minute speech to a country club reception.

Cheney said serving under four presidents taught him that a surprising international crisis is inevitable.

"When I think about the kind of individual I want in the Oval Office in that moment of crisis, who has to make those key decisions, some of them life-and-death decisions, some of them decisions as commander-in-chief, who has the responsibility for sending some of our young men and women into harm's way, that man is Mitt Romney," Cheney said to applause.

In a biennial speech to Russian ambassadors, Putin also took a shot at the West by condemning any unilateral actions to solve international disputes and underlined the importance of resolving such conflicts through the United Nations.

His remarks suggested that Russia, a veto-wielding permanent member of the Security Council, would keep on defending ally Syria at the United Nations over its military crackdown on an popular uprising that has evolved into an armed insurgency.

"Domestic socio-economic problems that have become worse in industrialized countries as a result of the (economic) crisis are weakening the dominant role of the so-called historical West," Putin told a meeting of Russian ambassadors from across the world.

When Abraham Lincoln allowed the Treasury to print money for the first time in the depths of the Civil War, it was a major innovation born of a pressing reality. The Union was broke. Now, 150 years later, in admittedly less dire circumstances, Congress is preparing itself for the next big thing when it comes to money - a future in which payments are made with a wandlike wave of a phone rather than the exchange of wrinkled pieces of paper.

"We are, I think, on a precipice of some fundamental change in the way money is exchanged between consumers and businesses," Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., said as she opened the first of a string of hearings in March.

The greenback government notes... is a 19th-century technology that has barely changed in 15 decades. ..... How many times have we heard that, yes, massive Coronal Mass Ejection (CME's) from the Sun can only cause limited damage on our planet because we are protected by the Earth's magnetic field? Many times, giving us a limited sense of planetary security.

Well, brothers and sisters, do not "put all your eggs on that security blanket" and increase your praying time.

As it turns out, it has been discovered, and confirmed!, that those "portals" we hear about so often in science fiction movies and only existed in the imagination of the science fiction writers... do exist!

"We call them X-points or electron diffusion regions," explains plasma physicist Jack Scudder of the University of Iowa.  "They're places where the magnetic field of Earth connects to the magnetic field of the Sun, creating an uninterrupted path leading from our own planet to the sun's atmosphere 93 million miles away."

.... these magnetic portals open and close dozens of times each day.  They're typically located a few tens of thousands of kilometers from Earth where the geomagnetic field meets the onrushing solar wind.  Most portals are small and short-lived; others are yawning, vast, and sustained.  Tons of energetic particles can flow through the openings, heating Earth's upper atmosphere, sparking geomagnetic storms, and igniting bright polar auroras. (2)

In plain English: If we have one of those portals open when the Sun has a CME, and the timing is right, our magnetic field "security blanket" becomes null and void because we have a "direct pipeline" to the Sun, with nothing to block the effects of the CME

Frankly, if one does not find enough reasons in the world today to pray more it is simply because either their belief in God is really wanting or his/her destiny may just not be the Kingdom of God!

John Galt, the hero of Rand's 1957 magnum opus Atlas Shrugged, asked his nationwide audience to promise, along with him, that "I swear – by my life and my love of it – that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine."

Malware may knock thousands off Internet on Monday, July 9th. (1)

The warnings about the Internet problem have been splashed across Facebook and Google. Internet service providers have sent notices, and the FBI set up a special website. But tens of thousands of Americans may still lose their Internet service Monday unless they do a quick check of their computers for malware that could have taken over their machines more than a year ago.

Despite repeated alerts, the number of computers that probably are infected is more than 277,000 worldwide, down from about 360,000 in April. Of those still infected, the FBI believes that about 64,000 are in the United States.

Users whose computers are still infected Monday will lose their ability to go online, and they will have to call their service providers for help deleting the malware and reconnecting to the Internet.

The problem began when international hackers ran an online advertising scam to take control of more than 570,000 infected computers around the world. When the FBI went in to take down the hackers late last year, agents realized that if they turned off the malicious servers being used to control the computers, all the victims would lose their Internet service.

In a highly unusual move, the FBI set up a safety net. They brought in a private company to install two clean Internet servers to take over for the malicious servers so that people would not suddenly lose their Internet.

But that temporary system will be shut down at 12:01 a.m. EDT Monday, July 9.

Most victims don't even know their computers have been infected, although the malicious software probably has slowed their Web surfing and disabled their antivirus software, making their machines more vulnerable to other problems.

SUGGESTED Instructions to determine if a Windows operated computer has been affected by the "DNS Changer" virus

[See Disclaimer at the bottom of the text]

If your computer is operating with any of the current or past versions of Microsoft Windows, the following instructions will help you determine if your computer has been affected by the "DNS Changer" virus.

1. With your navigator (any navigator: Windows Explorer, Firefox, Opera, etc.) open the following page  Tool available for those affected by the DNS-Changer  from avira.com

2. Once on that page, randomly click on any links to ensure yourself that you are in the authentic domain of Avira avira.com and not in a falsified page. (Remember, that is precisely what the "DNS Changer" virus does.)

3. Once you have ascertained that you are at Avira, return to the page mentioned in step no. 1 >>> Tool available for those affected by the DNS-Changer

4. Click on the link named "Download Avira DNS Repair-Tool" (may be found at the bottom left part of the page), which will download in your computer the program "AviraDNSRepairEN.exe"

5. Execute the program that you have just downloaded.

If your computer IS NOT affected:

The program immediately stops with the message: "The DNS settings of your system have not been manipulated by the DNSChanger".

If your computer IS Indeed affected:

The program will let you know and the will correct certain parameters associated with the way you connect and navigate the Internet which were manipulated by the "DNS Changer" virus. HOWEVER, it DOES NOT eliminate the virus infection. It just corrected the damage initially done. Damage that could be caused again by the latent virus.

To eliminate the "DNS Changer" virus from your computer, and with the assistance of someone who is proficient in computer matters, follow the instructions given at DCWG - How can you fix, remove, and recover from a DNS Changer Violation.

Another possible step would be to completely re-install the operating system of your computer.

India demands full BlackBerry access. (1)

It was not immediately clear what the Indian government, which says it is driven by security concerns, would now do after the Canadian smartphone maker failed to fulfill demands to monitor encrypted corporate email by a January 31 deadline. RIM had previously said was confident India would not ban its services.

...It was not immediately clear why the Pakistani government retracted the earlier decision to restrict the services.

...Last year, the company narrowly escaped a ban in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Neither side disclosed what RIM did to get itself onside with UAE telecom regulations.

New tests revive debate over Arafat death. (1)

The discovery of traces of a radioactive agent on clothing reportedly worn by Yasser Arafat in his final days reignited a cauldron of conspiracy theories
Wednesday about the mysterious death of the longtime Palestinian leader.

Arafat's widow, who ordered the tests by a Swiss lab, called for her husband's body to be exhumed, and Arafat's successor gave tentative approval for an autopsy. But experts warned that even after the detection of polonium-210, getting answers on the cause of death will be tough.

Arafat was 75 when he died Nov. 11, 2004, in a French military hospital. He had been airlifted to the facility just weeks earlier with a mysterious illness, after being confined by Israel for three years to his West Bank headquarters.

At the time, French doctors said Arafat died of a massive brain hemorrhage. According to French medical records, he had suffered inflammation, jaundice and a blood condition known as disseminated intravascular coagulation, or DIC.

Pope Fires Slovak Bishop for criticizing his Holocaust supporting predecessor.

"The pope fired a 52-year-old Slovak bishop on Monday for apparently mismanaging his diocese in a rare show of papal power over his bishops.

Usually when bishops run into trouble - either for alleged moral lapses or management problems - they are persuaded by the Vatican to resign. But Pope Benedict XVI has become increasingly willing to forcibly remove bishops who refuse to step down, sacking three others in the last year alone.

His willingness to do so raises questions about whether he would take the same measures against bishops who covered up for sexually abusive priests. So far he has not." (1)

and....

"The archbishop of Trnava, Róbert Bezák, has been dismissed from his position by the Roman Catholic Church. He read out a letter he had received from the Vatican authorities informing him of their decision during a mass held in Trnava Cathedral on Sunday, July 1. He also read out a letter in which the papal nuncio to Slovakia - i.e. the Vatican ambassador - Archbishop Mario Giordana, asked him to resign from his position. Bezák was officially removed from his post as of 12:00 today (Monday, July 2), upon publication of the announcement in L'Osservatore Romano, the official daily newspaper of the Vatican, the Sme daily reported.

Bezák, aged 52, replaced controversial former Archbishop Ján Sokol three years ago. The step was widely welcomed given Sokol's repeated praise of President Jozef Tiso, a Catholic priest who led the Nazi-allied wartime Slovak state under which tens of thousands of Slovakia's Jews were deported to Nazi death camps.

Bezák won popular respect when he announced that Tiso, should have resigned as soon as the first transport with Jews left the country.

Bezák added that although all the letters he has received the Vatican refer to "serious accusations", nobody has yet accused him of anything specific. He said he believes that one reason for his firing may be his criticism of his predecessor, Sokol, Sme wrote. ....Bezák has said that he does not know why he is being dismissed. He added that the Vatican even told him not to talk to the media....

Meanwhile, several supporters of Bezák have launched a petition on the internet in which they demand that the KBS and the papal nuncio in Slovakia explain why Bezák had to be dismissed, the SITA newswire reported.

"We require this explanation since this is an abnormal procedure which creates space for various suspicions," reads the petition text on the internet. "Regardless of obedience towards hierarchical rules we cannot hide from the fact that this procedure does not throw a good light on the institution of the Church, [and that] it divides and disgusts believers as well as society." Sun Unleashes Early Fourth of July Fireworks. (1)

The sun erupted with a powerful solar flare Monday (July 2) in an early solar fireworks display just in time for the Fourth of July. A wave of plasma from the flare could reach Earth by the U.S. Independence Day holiday on Wednesday, July 4.

The sun storm came from a large sunspot called AR1515 that is now rotating across the Earth-facing side of the sun. It unleashed an intense solar flare at 6:43 a.m. EDT (1043 GMT) today in what is expected to be one of several strong solar storms in the days ahead, space weather officials said.

Ratzinger rewards pedophile-enabler bishop with Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith post.

"The Vatican announced on Monday (July 2) that Bishop Gerhard Ludwig Mueller will replace American Cardinal William J. Levada as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. The congregation that was once known as the Inquisition still focuses on enforcing orthodoxy in the Catholic Church, and it remains one of the most influential departments in the papal bureaucracy...

...In recent years its mission has expanded to include dealing with reports of sexual abuse by priests all over the world.

The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, a leading U.S.-based support group for victims of sexual abuse by clergy, criticized Mueller’s appointment because in 2004, while serving as bishop of Regensburg in Bavaria, Mueller had returned a local priest, the Rev. Peter Kramer, to pastoral work without alerting the parish to previous charges of sexual abuse against Kramer.

“Pope Benedict had hundreds of options here. Yet he deliberately elevated a bishop who knowingly put kids in harm’s way,” SNAP said in a statement. “This choice rubs salt into the already deep and still fresh wounds of thousands of suffering victims and millions of betrayed Catholics.”

And now the 'X factor':

"Mueller, 64, is considered a close follower of Benedict’s teachings and he is the curator of the German edition of the Benedict's complete works...."

But, typical of Opus Dei Cooperators, Mueller 'plays both sides' of the fence:

"Mueller has also raised eyebrows among conservatives for some of his connections to liberation theologians and his criticisms of schismatic traditionalists who Benedict is trying to woo back into the Roman fold." (1)

Comments: Mueller replaces US Cardinal William Levada as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Levada has his own dark history (2) of enabling and protecting clerical sex abusers. To the extent that prosecutors were literally trying to subpoena him as he left (fled?) to Rome to take up the leadership of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Brethren, these people are openly mocking God and most Catholics are oblivious to it. Without having to search there are three obviously scandalous acts that claim to Heaven for action.

First, the well stained and disgraced Cardinal Law (2) is taken to Rome and given the most important church of the Immaculate One - Santa Maria Majore. Then, Cardinal Levada, practically with a subpoena in hand for covering up priests who abuse children, is given the congregation which is supposed to watch for the Doctrine of the Catholic Faith. And now, the same prize is given to another seriously stained prelate, Mueller.

We are not splitting hairs here nor are we fabricating charges - these charges are more than confirmed and only God knows what still remain in their proverbial closets. Only individuals moved by satan would do something like this.

Glaxo to pay $3 billion US dollars to settle U.S. fraud charges. (1)

Health-care giant GlaxoSmithKline agreed to plead guilty and pay $3 billion to settle U.S. charges of fraud and failure to report safety data, the U.S. Justice Department said Monday.

The settlement is the largest related to health-care fraud in U.S. history, the Justice Department said. The company said the settlement charges are covered by existing provisions and that the net effect on its earnings is expected to be neutral.

Glaxo was charged with selling two misbranded drugs, and with failing to report safety data about a third drug to the Food and Drug Administration.

Comments:
Once again, public trust violated. In this instance, endangering the physical health. The question that needs to be asked, in the hopes of alerting the dormant children of God, is: The above two issues is what we know; can you imagine what has not been exposed yet?

Again and again - It is only in God that we must trust. The religious, political and commercial leadership are leading humanity to destruction.

Various News Commentaries

For a "Reality Check" about what the media - and its masters - tries to make us believe and to dismantle the fantasy of the "Arab Spring", let us look at the real events regarding the Egyptian elections. Of course, we obtained the information from the media - the trick was to decode it and assemble it in sequence.

1st As the Egyptians were about to go vote, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces made public a Complementary Constitutional Declaration. In said Declaration the military dissolved the National Assembly, while the Supreme Military Council assumed the powers of the dissolved Assembly until a new Assembly is selected. No date for such election was given.

2nd Said Supreme Military Council assumed control over the country's budget and the power to select the members of the future Constitutional Commission. Authors-to-be of the future Cosntitution.

3rd Said Supreme Military Council reserves the veto right over each and every article of the yet to be written Constitution.

4th Before the election results were announced by (who else?) them, said Supreme Military Council had already appointed new presidents' Chief of Staff and will also appoint the Defense Minister.

Then, with a delay of three days, they announced who had won the elections - the Muslim Brotherhood candidate.

While those poor Egyptians where wildly celebrating the victory (what victory?) in Tahrir Square, most did not realize - just like the rest of the world - that nothing has changed for them except in that the puppet of the Military Council had a different name and face.

Oh, yes! The "Spring" of it all....

And for those who think.... that the umpteenth summit of the European Union solved the Euro crisis... take a stiff drink and read on...

All they did was to change accounting methods so that bank bail outs do not reflect on the individual national debts. We presume that it will now reflect on the national debts of the countries in a parallel universe.....

....and while the talk last two weeks was about Greece and Spain leaving the Euro... this week we started it with a significant number of Germans talking about divorcing themselves from the Euro. They are fed up with supporting countries who are more interested in religious (read: pagan) festivities and sport events than in getting their act together and start producing some equity!

Mayan Calendar Discovery Confirms 2012 'End Date'. (1)

An ancient Maya text has emerged from the jungles of Guatemala confirming the so-called "end date" of the Maya calendar, Dec. 21, 2012.

Considered one of the most significant hieroglyphic finds in decades, the 1,300-year-old inscription contains only the second known reference to the "end date," but does not predict doomsday.

"The text talks about ancient political history rather than prophecy," Marcello A. Canuto, director of Tulane University's Middle American Research Institute, said. Carved on a stone staircase, the inscription was found at the ruins of La Corona, in the dense rainforest of northwestern Guatemala, by an international team of archaeologists led by Canuto and colleague Tomás Barrientos of the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala.

France orders breathalyser for motorists. (1)

A new law has come into force in France making it compulsory for drivers to carry a breathalyser kit in their vehicles or risk an on-the-spot fine. It is the latest move by the government aimed at bringing down the number of road deaths caused by alcohol.

All motorists must also have with them a high-visibility safety vest and a warning triangle. Foreign drivers are included in the new rule, however there is a grace period until November.

Some 4,000 people are killed on French roads every year, with drink-driving being the main factor in accidents ahead even of speeding. To enforce the regulations, French police say they plan to carry out random checks on those entering the country through the Channel Tunnel, as well as drivers arriving on ferries.

miguel de Portugal comments: As you may recall, on this same Forum, on June 26th, (2) we explained how Portugal and Spain had come up with an excuse to random check motorists "for their own good".

Texas DA accused of allowing killer to escape. (1)

Shortly after her daughter was shot to death by a former lover, Hermila Garcia remembers hearing these comforting words from the local Texas prosecutor: "I am the state. I am the law. I am going to represent and defend your daughter."

Cameron County District Attorney Armando Villalobos' office did secure a murder conviction and 23-year prison term against Amit Livingston, but federal prosecutors allege he also orchestrated a scheme to line his own pockets that allowed Livingston to escape. Five years later, the killer remains at large.

A dozen people, half lawyers, have been indicted as part of a federal probe into what some observers call the most widespread case of judicial corruption they've ever seen. The saga has gripped the community in this southernmost tip of Texas.

Besides Villalobos, two others charged were present the day Livingston dodged prison: Abel Limas, the judge who presided over the murder trial, and Eduardo "Eddie" Lucio, a lawyer who represented the victim's children in a civil case.

miguel de Portugal comments: We wonder how many times it was alleged that this "was just another of those Conspiracy Theories" before those who needed to see the light, saw it!

Michelle Obama cites Jesus as model for citizenship. (1)

First lady Michelle Obama Thursday offered a rare public reflection on her religious faith, telling a conference of the African Methodist Episcopal church that the life of Jesus Christ is a model for democratic organizing.

"It's kind of like church," Obama said. "Our faith journey isn't just about showing up on Sunday for a good sermon and good music and a good meal. It's about what we do Monday through Saturday as well, especially in those quiet moments, when the spotlight's not on us, and we're making those daily choices about how to live our lives.

"We see that in the life of Jesus Christ. Jesus didn't limit his ministry to the four walls of the church," she said. "He was out there fighting injustice and speaking truth to power every single day. He was out there spreading a message of grace and redemption to the least, the last, and the lost. And our charge is to find Him everywhere, every day by how we live our lives."

Obama, who is not a regular churchgoer, said citizenship like the practice of faith is "not a once-a-week kind of deal."

"Democracy is also an everyday activity," she said. "And being an engaged citizen should once again be a daily part of our lives."

miguel de Portugal comments: Politics aside, Mrs. Obama has hit the proverbial nail on the head. We will take it one step further.

Precisely because of the lack of involvement/commitment is why applied Christianity, as well as applied Democracy, have failed.

No sex please we're Greek. (1)

Austerity-hit Greeks are having less sex as a result of their country's economic crisis.

Urologists in Athens surveyed six hundred men and women on their bedtime behaviours and found a link between belt-tightening and sex drive.

Financial problems and sexual activity is connected because there's a kind of depression, you don't have money, you don't have work you don't see future in your life, these are depressive, melancholic feelings so this decreases sexual activity,” said Konstantino Konstantinidis, president of the Andrology Institute.

Thirty percent of those quizzed said the crisis had a big impact on their sex lives. Thirty-four percent of respondents felt their economic woes led to a decreased sexual appetite.
