Peace!

I have a few questions. My first question is about the Bible

In Luke 22:35-38 it is mentioned that Jesus didn't ask to leave aside swords, recommended to have them:


My guess is that 2000 years ago carrying a sword was a common thing because nature was more wild and it was more dangerous in general than during our time. Also maybe it was because of a customs, probably like carrying a gun in USA now. So Jesus told apostles to have have basic "self defense kits" because they should travel around the world after His resurrection.

What interesting is that this part is covered only in gospel of Luke.

Am I correct in understanding of this part?

My second question is about Ukraine.

Ukraine's history of 20th century is written in blood. Both World Wars were fought on our soil. During WW2 armies first swept the country from west to east and then back from east to west.

Holodomor, when Soviets intentionally mismanaged resources and this resulted in death of millions because of a hunger.

Chernobyl and its consequences. And, slow death of USSR resulting in very poor economic situation for around 20 years for most people, except of few "privileged".

While there is (or, more correct word now - was) a progress in day-to-day life, and, until the crisis, people were relatively optimistic, except of political aspect of life, but now - it is "doom and gloom".

Interesting thing is that Ukrainians in general are peaceful people. Probably you met a few personally in Portugal or in Spain. But on the other side there are many bad things about society and specific Ukrainians, probably you also noticed that.

My question is not - "why me?" - in all honestly I am somewhat happy to be here, because there are still good people here and most importantly - Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (Eastern Catholics) is relatively healthy and it is possible to find God there.

My question is just - "Why?" Spiritual healing will help anyway, but knowing the cause will speed up the process of understanding how to fix the problem.

While situation is not as bad as in countries of Africa, and Ukraine is considered as a Second World country - we are not many steps away from becoming Third World Country.

I see 3 potential reasons.


I understand that there is no single correct answer to this question, and, probably the whole truth will be known only at the real End of the World, but any guidance will came in a great help.

A. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to address these issues for the benefit of many.

First - we shall address the issue of the sword in Luke 22: 35-38. As you well know, there are many translations from the so-called original texts into many languages (1) . However, we notice that Luke 22 : 35-38 reads pretty much as you transcribed above from the Douay-Rheims Bible. For example, in the New International Version it similarly reads:

Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?" "Nothing," they answered.


If Jesus had been talking about swords - as in a weapon - it is obvious that:


In addition - the correct translation of the last sentence is: "Enough!" and not "And he said to them", It is enough. He is showing impatience towards the incredulity of those who had been with Him - witnessing Him - for so long and yet thinking that violence was the solution. The modern "street translation" of that sentence would be: "Aw, shut up!"

You may ask: "What about the part where Jesus says "...let him sell his coat, and buy a sword..." - would that support the sword-weapon concept?"

No; it means leave all (material) behind [specially what was most dear to an individual at that time in history - a person's coat] - and follow Me - The Word, the only sword/weapon that anyone on a true Christian journey should ever consider using.

Second - about the suffering of your country. Your logic is not far from the truth.

We shall start with a Biblical quotation: 4 Or those eighteen upon whom the tower fell in Siloe, and slew them: think you, that they also were debtors above all the men that dwelt in Jerusalem? [Luke 13]

Obviously, many of those who have suffered in Ukraine during the 20th century were not greater sinners than those who lived in California or Florida, for example. But why must good people suffer? As you noted - we have covered that in Redemptive Suffering (2) ; unfortunately, due to the failed Evangelization effort, the Faithful have not been aware of what we also explain in Redemptive Suffering (2).

In very simple terms: When the Faithful is victimized by satan - as the result of collateral damage - and that individual, knowing that God is above all, offers that suffering to God for: Love of Jesus; the Conversion of sinners; and the Reparation of offenses against the Immaculate Heart of Mary, it will be satan himself who will make sure to limit the collateral damage to his actions. Otherwise, satan would be fully cooperating in acts of love for Jesus, conversion of sinners and reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

satan is evil - but he is not stupid!

If many of the people of Ukraine - as an example - would have offered their suffering to God in such manner, the suffering would have been greatly reduced. Take a look at The Miracle of the Virgin Mary at the Church of Blachernae in Constantinople on 911 AD (3) as to what Faith (and trust!) in God can accomplish.

The real problem boils down to: Most people talk about God and go through the motions and rituals of their particular faith, but they do not have the Faith required to move mountains, were it necessary.

The root cause of the above is: People have been brainwashed to place their faith in religious institutions - not in God. As they witness the manner in which the leaders of said institutions behave, subconsciously, the little faith they had is crushed and all they have left are empty rituals.

Think of this - Why if the Opus Dei has such a penetration and control in all key points of power in Spain; was backed by the ironclad dictatorship of Franco; and appear to be "holier than thou" is the faith of the rank and file Spaniard is just about dead. To the point of people taking the Church to court demanding that their names be erased from the baptismal records..... while, on the other hand, John Bosco (4), in the almost French-Revolution-climate in 19th century Italy worked Jesus-like wonders in Italy for over forty years?

Because He promised: Amen, amen I say to you, he that believeth in me, the works that I do, he also shall do; and greater than these shall he do. [John 14 : 12]

If we were now addressing the full Roman Curia, with Benedict at its head, or a World Synod of Bishops, instead of you, we would say: "It is the Faith, stupid!"

In reference to your post in Did you know that...? dated January 24th...

I have personnally fought the pedophilia scourge within the priesthood for 18 years. I am 50 years old and a practicing novus ordo catholic with sympathies to traditionalists such as St Pius X (I don't believe they are separated from the faith, in fact, closer than almost all NO catholics). They know the faith better and are closer to the faith of St. Padre Pio. I have been through more and probably know more about this particular form of apostasy than you do. I was born and raised in a heavily jewish area. I had many girlfriends and guy friends and business associates who are jewish. In other words, I am intimately familiar with them as a people.

I know more about the apostasy of Joseph Cardinal Bernadin firsthand than you know secondhand. Now to the subject at hand. I have never met Bishop Williamson, however I believe the stance that you have portrayed and the novus ordo has portrayed about judaism is part and parcel of the sellout of catholicism.

Are they really our elder brothers in faith? Yes and no! One thing you (and ALL NO popes) have conveniently forgotten to bring up in your critique of Bishop Williamson is the talmud. What book do the jews really consider their most important book, the Old Testament (Torah)  or the talmud ? What does the talmud say about Jesus, Mary, Christians, etc. that you have not mentioned either out of ignorance or convenience!

Liberal jews, the majority, are cultural jews only!  Please, in the name of coherence and truth, have the courage to put out the truth.

I do not have a TV set, so I miss the usual propaganda. It was interesting, therefore, to watch the programmed jubilation associated with the inauguration today.

Poor, poor people. I think we are seeing the "false dawn" announced by Lee Penn (1) enacted, right now.
 
Another parallel - probably unjust, but it occurred to me: the accession of Hitler to the Chancellorship of Germany at noon on January 30, 1933, when the moral of the German people was at its lowest. Within two years, long before the Holocaust and World War II, he had given Germany a huge dose of "change" and "hope;" the only price was obedience.

A. We know that you are not drawing a parallel between Hitler and Mr. Obama. We also know that you are fully aware that President Obama would never willingly or consciously play any part in a parallel scenario, however, he is not in charge - it is satan, allowed by God, who is the one calling the shots. [Rev. 13:5]

Indeed the world is witnessing a  "false dawn"  - complete with a fumbled Presidential Oath of Office (2) - an oath which was completed not at 6 P.M. Paris-Berlin time (Noon EST) as it was supposed to, but at 6:06 P.M. (12:06 PM EST)

(2) About the fumbled Presidential Oath of Office and renewed, "just in case", sometime during January 21st at the White House. Symbolically speaking, the renewed oath does not cancel the symbolism of the fumbled one.

In reference to your recent mailing with the subject of: Israel Announces Cease-Fire in Gaza... and thinks it won.

It may be somewhat short-sighted of me, but I cannot help but thank God that the slaughter (no other word would suffice) and suffering inflicted on the people of Gaza have abated, even if it is temporary.

It hurts too much whenever I see, hear or read about what's happening there. And if I can feel this way, I can only imagine how much more keenly God feels their pain. For this transgression alone His wrath would be great, not just for Israel, but for all of us who did nothing (not even pray) about it.

And to think, this (Gaza) could be the future fate of most of us.

A. You are not being short-sighted. As we have often said - almost like a mantra - We must pray and offer sacrifices in order that the suffering that awaits the world can be reduced while Divine Justice is dispensed and prophecy fulfilled.

The dispensation of Divine Justice - for mankind's own benefit - is more certain than the Sun rising tomorrow, BUT the level of pain and suffering remains in our hands until the End of These Times. However, as days tick on we will have less and less an impact on it.

Remember - God, through Mary, gave the World, through the Roman Catholic Administrators 22 years (1) of lead time before He allowed the unleashing of World War II. However - from the moment the specific request had to be fulfilled, in 1929, all the way through 1939, the leverage to reduce the suffering started to be reduced until it reached the value of zero on September 1st, 1939.

Have you ever heard of Avro Manhattan?

He is almost virulently anti-Catholic but there seems to be some substance in what he has to say about the agenda of the Church concerning Indo-China.

Certainly the million Catholics that left the North disrupted the political balance and with Diem‘s campaign against the Buddhists, one could get the feeling that there was an alliance with the US under the guise of fighting Communism, but with hidden purpose of having a Catholic Viet Nam.

Being a Catholic and A Viet Nam war veteran it seems that we were all being sacrificed on the altar theocratic opportunism.

A. The first time miguel de Portugal has heard of Avro Manhattan was when he read your letter. A quick view at what Wikipedia reports about him (1) served as a two minute introductory course on Avro Manhattan.

Unfortunately - not being a Catholic Faith practitioner Avro must have been taken for a wild-eyed anti-Catholic fanatic when, in reality, he was probably calling many things just as they were and still are. At the time of the Vietnam War miguel was submerged in the world as most continue to be today, in addition, the projects he was involved in because of his profession left little time even to sleep - let alone being aware of what was taking place with the Catholic Church in Indo-China.

However, knowing what we know about the Roman Catholic Church Administration - by Divine infusion and confirmed by hard facts and figures - anything is possible. As we have stated before, at this point in time and based on their persistent record - we assume all of them guilty until proven innocent.

As if all his accusations were enough, Avro did not even know - as we do, without a shred of a doubt - that not only the Roman Catholic Administration was responsible for the holocaust - but they were, and still are, responsible for all of World II plus the spread of Communism throughout the world. (2)

For the new visitors to this page: We wish to point out that we make a crystal clear separation between the Catholic Faith which we uphold (3) and the persistent crimes of the Roman Catholic Church Administration committed - according to their twisted ideology - in the Name of God.

We thank you for writing - but, most of all, for having endured the calvary of Viet Nam, even though the politics were wrong, and deeply regret any negativism that you may have had to endure upon your return home.

There are many Torah-based Jews who believe that Israel is a state that does not have God's approval and that the premises for its set up are atheistic Zionism based on hatred of non-Jews. These Zionists are driven by the Talmud and Cabalistic writings to set up the Noahide laws for all to follow, seemingly with the help of people as George H. W. Bush. 

These Torah Jews, some in part Messianic, claim that God did not mean for the Jews to take back the land by force. God's numerous covenants with Israel were conditional upon Israel keeping its part of the bargain. Israel never has.

Only Jesus can save the Jews now. Therefore, aren't the Christian Right and the Conservative Right, Liberal Media and others setting the stage for the "Time of Jacob's Trouble"?

Isn't it time hear from the 144,000 ?

A. Since God has allowed satan a free hand, as mentioned in Revelations 13:5, individuals and groups are digging their own graves without realizing it.  You have heard us state many times about the lack of coherence or stupidity shown through the actions of X or Y; it is because of that. They have been blinded so that they cannot see that they themselves are fully and joyfully cooperating in the fulfillment of their future misery.

At this point we have nothing to publicly say anything about the 144,000 figure mentioned in Revelations 7:4.

Thank you very much for the additional clarification.  Now I understand exactly what you are saying. I am sometimes too ready to be hard on myself. There is also that tendency to be in denial, and since what you are talking about has such serious consequences, I'd rather err towards the former.
 
After less than two weeks from the lesson delivered through the experience I had in relation to the Divine Instructions, I have stumbled into at least three other situations that, although the packaging was different, are all the same sort of behavior.

I will say that they all begin innocently, casual conversation or even joking, and seem to end up with my pushing the matter too far.  Usually, it is too late by the time I realize what has happened, although it is probably that there are warning flags I ignore during the discussions.
 
Since I seem so prone to this behavior, I have been thinking that the best thing would be not to say or do anything for the time being, and only --- only to pray.

A. If the above would be the situation of just 10 % of those who call themselves Christians, we would consider the situation a Victory for God! Let us remind you that Jesus did not say it would be easy - He only said that it would be worth the effort.

Why would we claim that your stated situation is a Victory for God? Quite simple:


In addition to that, we know that you seek corrective action (Spiritual Direction) and receive it in a most constructive way.

Let us look at all of the above in the light of the Final Judgment....

As we have stated elsewhere, at such time Jesus will judge us on the basis of how hard we tried to sanctify ourselves and not on "how holy" we may be at the time of body-soul separation (aka "physical death". Do you think that one who falls one thousand times before "getting it right" will receive more Heavenly Credits (or less Heavenly Demerits) than the one for whom his/her sanctification is a true struggle and after seeing the one millionth fall mark he/she "doesn't have it all together" yet?

God created us in His image - male and female He created us. Now then, take any good human trait and project it to infinity. That is how that human trait is expressed in Divine terms. Now then, imagine that you have two children - one has an above average intelligence and the other is intellectually challenged. The intellectually challenged tries very hard to learn and do well the basic functions of a human being - from brushing his/her teeth to tie the shoe laces, while the above average in intelligence "sails through" those functions and more complex ones without effort.

How will your heart feel toward the intellectually challenged child who has progressed from hitting his left eye with the toothbrush (instead of the mouth) most of the time to just once in a while, in comparison to the Hollywood style sparkling/gleaming teeth of the intellectually gifted child? You would not even care if the teeth of the intellectually challenged child were clean - your would be just elated that he is hitting his mouth more often than his left eye with the toothbrush.

Remember - It Is Just One Step at a Time. (1)

You are on the right track; heading in the right direction; have a good map; ask directions when needed; and have chosen to take up your cross and follow Him. (2)

Why would we not call this a Victory for God?

We have noticed that on the Yellowstone specific page

Glory be to Jesus Christ, the only begotten of the Father.

It would be very beneficial for the purpose of higher holiness of the faithful to make public in your site the two following books: The Secret of Mary by St. Louis Mary Gringnon de Montfort as well as the Mystical City of God by Ven. Maria de Agreda.

In these last days is coming the greatest saints of all times.

They will be chosen to oppose the enemies of God, which are ranging on all sides.

Please do not publish nor my name, nor any other detail about me, because it may be dangerous to me. Once I was persecuted by the enemies of God.

A. We have considered recommending St. Louis Mary Grignion's The Secret of Mary and every time the decision has been not to do so. One of the reasons - and we are sure that there are others - is that, when we reviewed the translation of the book to Portuguese, the theological errors were too many and too great; errors which did not appear in the English version.

In addition - what we have amply shown regarding the importance of Mary (1) is deemed to be, at this time, more than sufficient by the One miguel de Portugal serves.

As to the writings of Ven. Maria de Agreda - instead, in addition to the extensive documentation that we have published (2) at the prompting and in the Name of God, we would recommend the Diary of St. Faustina Kowalska of the Divine Mercy (3) as well as the writings on St. Teresa de Jesus (de Avila), St. Gertrude and a comprehensive biography of St. John Bosco. (4)

Due to all the talk of mankind being 'sent' back due to all our transgressions, would it be possible to be sent back to before the apple tree in the garden of Eden, and start as evolution for the era of peace?

There is a lot of talk of going back to simpler times, but which era would that be, before indoor plumming, the age of enlightenment, before Moses?

May God continue to bless you in your work.

A. We will answer you question straight out - without parables nor euphemisms. Those who have Eyes to See and Ears to Hear will accept it without the "face" of miguel de Portugal (1) yet attached to it.

After Step 17 (2), humanity will find itself in essentially the same position it found itself after the great flood that we read about - in the Holy Scriptures and in many records of civilizations throughout the world. (3)

Of course, this time, as He promised, will not be due to a global flood; He will use other - and perhaps more devastating - means.  Humanity has "worked hard" to earn it!

Then, a little over eight centuries later....
