The purpose of Points to Ponder About was to stimulate thinking that would draw the disoriented Faithful back to God and away from the hypocritical duplicity of some religious institutions which are destroying the little faith left on earth. (For a more detailed explanation, see Points to Ponder About - Purpose). What used to be posted in this section has been integrated in For Your Information and Reference.

Note: This 'Point to Ponder About' section was prepared in the years 2005-2009. Some linked documents external to this domain may have been removed from the Net, or moved to different locations, since then.

Do you ever wonder..... what Jesus really meant when He said: 17 ....They that are well have no need of a physician, but they that are sick. For I came not to call the just, but sinners. [Mark 2]

Exactly who are "They that are well" and who are "...they that are sick." ?

The truth is that we are all sick for... 7 When therefore they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. [John 8] It is just a matter of being aware of it.

"They that are well" - are those who think that they are well and would not respond to His call - then and now; the rest of us - His Elect - are "...they who are sick." for we recognize it and hang on to each of His Words for They are true nourishment for our souls; nourishment which strengthen us to "walk" The Way - His Way - the ONLY Way.

Do you ever wonder..... how do you know when what you want for yourself is not the right thing, or the result that you want is not God's Will.

Quite simple: It really does not matter... IF whatever you ask for and seek you, as an act of your free will, subject it to the Will of God.

If you do so, He will not allow it, under any circumstances.

We suggest that the Faithful who is seeking more and more Light, peruse our documents which focus on purely Theological topics.

Do you ever wonder..... why we must avoid trying to find details about the future - whether via Horoscopes, Seers, supernaturally gifted individuals such as Nostradamus, fortunetellers, etc.? The reason is quite simple and should be very compelling.

Do you ever wonder..... why we end up with the elected politicians we do? If we paid attention to the people with whom we interact day in and day out we SHOULD know why.

Do you ever wonder..... where the whole Valentine "ritual" of gift and card giving originated? Wonder no more....

At least three different Saint Valentines, all of them martyrs, are mentioned in the early martyrologies under date of 14 February. One is described as a priest at Rome, another as a bishop of modern Terni, and these two seem both to have suffered in the second half of the third century and to have been buried on the Flaminian Way, but at different distances from the city. In the 12th century what was known to the ancients as the Flaminian Gate of Rome and is now the Porta del Popolo, was called the Gate of St. Valentine. The name seems to have been taken from a small church dedicated to the saint which was in the immediate neighborhood. Of both these St. Valentines some sort of official records are preserved but they are of relatively late date and of no historical value. Of the third Saint Valentine, who suffered in Africa with a number of companions, nothing further is known.

Saint Valentine's Day

The popular customs associated with Saint Valentine's Day undoubtedly had their origin in a conventional belief generally received in England and France during the Middle Ages, that on 14 February, i.e. half way through the second month of the year, the birds began to pair. Thus in Chaucer's Parliament of Foules we read:

Whan every foul cometh ther to choose his mate. For this was sent on Seynt Valentyne's day

For this reason the day was looked upon as specially consecrated to lovers and as a proper occasion for writing love letters and sending lovers' tokens.

Therefore, the bottom line is: It had to do little with saints and holiness and much about mating; i.e. sex.

Thus - nothing new under the Sun... It is "Sex yesterday today and tomorrow..."

Do you ever wonder..... why it seems that God randomly and frequently punishes the population of this Earth?

Actually He does not punish His children as we understand punishment. When we run into great difficulties it is only for one or two reasons.

The key is to learn how to "make lemonade" every time we force Him to give us a "lemon". Life is just learning how to make lemonade - once we learn, it will feel that the lemons stopped coming...

Do you ever wonder..... why Catholics solicit the intercession of their favorite Saints in Heaven even though the Second Resurrection and Final Judgment is yet to come? [Revelations 20: 6-15]

Because Time exists in parallel with Eternity as we have explained before.
