Setting the Record Straight Once and For All

PURPOSE

The Second Coming of Jesus Christ according to various alleged Heavenly messengers (1a) (1b) saturated the Catholic Cyberspace for some time towards the end of last century and the beginning of this century. Early in the year 2000 we thought it appropriate to share with our readers a different perspective (2). After all, the Holy Scriptures cannot be replaced by alleged locutions and/or messages. Besides, Heaven has already clearly pronounced itself about such event over sixty years ago.

INTRODUCTION and BACKGROUND

At a time when some rejoiced, while others recoiled, with the news of the formal Blessing of the statue of the already canonized founder of The Prelature of the Holy Cross and Opus Dei in St. Peter's Basilica (3), rumors, alleged visions, alleged locutions and denials from The Vatican continue to pollute cyberspace and confuse the Faithful - just as St. John prophesied in Revelations 12:15.

In The Gospel according to Mark we read in Chapter 13 our Lord's Words regarding the Signs of the End. In verse 10 we read:

But the Gospel must first be preached to all nations.

The words used by Matthew in Chapter 24 verse 14 describing the same requirement read:

And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached throughout the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come.

The aberrant logic utilized by most Shepherds today to dismiss any impending apocalyptic event is that:

Even when the Apostles were still physically alive they were expecting the return of Our Lord Jesus Christ at any moment; something that did not happen.

Of course, mired in worldly matters, these same alleged Shepherds fail to realize that by making such a statement they are denying the same Holy Scriptures which they have been using as their "meal ticket" most of their lives.

A true Shepherd, the late Mons. Dr. Juan Straubinger, Doctor in Honoris Causa, University of Muenster, Germany, wrote a footnote about this particular issue in his magnificent translation of the New Testament [Nihil Obstat dated May 12, 1969]. The translation of said Note follows.

The preaching of the Gospel throughout the world is confirmed by the Apostle of the Gentiles [Col. 1: 6 and 23; Rom. 10:18], not as rhetorical hyperbole, since he knew, better than we do, the Apostolic journeys of the time...

If the first Christians anxiously awaited the Second Coming of Our Lord, as we can see in the discourses and letters of Sts. Paul, James and Peter, is because they considered that the Gospel had been preached "to all nations" in accordance to the prescription given by Our Lord Jesus Christ. Without a doubt, matters changed after the dispersion of Israelites from Rome [Acts 28:25-28].

However, today we cannot, as Pirot notes, "...limit ourselves to the very narrow horizon of the ruin of Jerusalem." but enlarge our horizons to "...the ruin of the world."

In summary...

The time related misconception of the early Christians resulted because they believed that indeed the Gospel had been preached to "...all nations" (of the, to them, known world) as prescribed, while taking the destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman Legions as "the end" after which Our Lord Jesus Christ would return.

The situation is quite different now. The Gospel has been preached to all nations throughout the world.

Brethren, make no mistake: We are in the final straightway, and everyone has been amply warned!

(Our Lady Speaking to Sister Faustina) "...I gave the Savior to the world; as for you, you have to speak to the world about His great mercy and prepare the world for the Second Coming of Him who will come, not as a merciful Saviour, but as a just Judge. Oh, how terrible is that day! Determined is the day of Justice, the day of Divine wrath. Speak to souls about this great mercy while it is still the time for [granting] mercy. If you keep silent now, you will be answering for a great number of souls on that terrible day. Fear nothing. Be faithful to the end...." [Notebook II:635]

(Our Lord Speaking to Sister Faustina) "...I am giving them the last hope of salvation; that is, the Feast of My Mercy. ...tell souls about this great mercy of Mine, because the awful day, the day of My justice, is near." [Notebook II:965]

(Our Lord Speaking to Sister Faustina) "...let all mankind recognize My unfathomable mercy. It is a sign for the end times; after it will come the day of justice. While there is still time, let them have recourse to the fount of My mercy;..." [Notebook II:848]

(Our Lord Speaking to Sister Faustina) "...before I come as the just Judge, I am coming first as the King of Mercy. Before the day of justice arrives, there will be given to people a sign in the heavens of this sort: All light in the heavens will be extinguished and there will be great darkness over the whole earth. Then the sign of the cross will be seen in the sky, and from the openings where the hands and the feet of the Savior were nailed will come forth great lights..." [Notebook I:83]

Commentary From The M+G+R Foundation

Please note that Our Lord is not glossing over the Day of Justice: According to Our Lady it will be that terrible day and according to Our Lord it will be the awful day.

He clearly stated that Before the day of justice arrives, there will be given to people a sign in the heavens... which is nothing else than a brief warning; a final call to repentance.

He does not make the Day of Justice, which will follow the last opportunity to appeal to His Mercy, an optional event nor an event far removed in the future.

At this point we must make very clear that this "day of justice" is not the Final Judgment. This "day of justice" is equivalent to what the world faced when what we know as Noah's Flood took place.

The Second Coming of Jesus Christ as Explained by St. Paul

Saint Paul tells us very clearly how to determine its proximity and identify it through his Second Epistle to the Thessalonias [2Thes.2:1-12]

[1] About the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, brothers, and our being gathered to him: [2] please do not be too easily thrown into confusion or alarmed by any manifestation of the Spirit or any statement or any letter claiming to come from us, suggesting that the Day of the Lord has already arrived. Never let anyone deceive you in any way. IT CANNOT HAPPEN UNTIL THE GREAT REVOLT HAS TAKEN PLACE AND THERE HAS APPEARED THE WICKED ONE, THE LOST ONE,...

[Note: Clearly the Great Revolt (THE Apostasy) manifests itself first. Afterwards, "The Wicked" one will become known. "The Wicked One" is an individual and not a concept or philosophy.]

[4] ...the Enemy, who raises himself above every so-called God or object of worship to enthrone himself in God's sanctuary and flaunts the claim that he is God."

[Note: "The Enemy" = "The Wicked One" = "The Antichrist" >> "The False Christ" claims that he is God. In reality, the Antichrist, in most instances, should be called the False Christ. i.e., counterfeit money is printed to pass it as real, not to be noted as false. Thus, it is "counterfeit money" and not "anti money".]

[5] Surely you remember my telling you about this when I was with you? [6] And you know, too, what is still holding him back from appearing before his appointed time.

[Note: When the "Wicked One" becomes known (and not the concept of wickedness"), the False Christ in person, what we are told in: (a) In the Book of Revelations (16:13-16 & 11:19); and, (b) the following verse [8] then will take place. Therefore, the Return of Our Lord takes place thereafter. That is, the "appointed time" for the manifestation of the real False Christ, is before the Return of Our Lord.]

[7] The mystery of wickedness is already at work, but let him who is restraining it once be removed, [8] and the wicked One will openly become known. The Lord will destroy his legacy with the breath of his mouth and will annihilate it with his glorious appearance at his coming.

[Note: The "mystery of wickedness" is at work. However, it does not mean that the False Christ has been officially identified on a global scale.]

[9] But the coming of the wicked One will be marked by Satan being at work in all kinds of counterfeit miracles and signs and wonders, [10] and every wicked deception aimed at those who are on the way to destruction because they would not accept the LOVE of the Truth and so be saved.

[Note: Whomever did not accept the "Love of the Truth" will fall victim of the seduction. This is the immense value of John Paul II's Encyclical "Veritatis Splendor". God has given us one more opportunity to assist us discern and keep in the truth.]

[11] And therefore God sends on them a power that deludes people so that they believe what is false, [12] and so that those who do not believe the truth and take their pleasure in wickedness may all be condemned.

[Note: This is the "last filtering device", that is, the ability to discern what is "true" from what is "false" which God will use to separate the chaff that is mixed in with the "wheat". As you may see, it is an automatic selective process which was clearly announced 2,000 years ago through St. Paul.]

Final Commentary From The M+G+R Foundation To better understand the meaning of verses 11 and 12 of the Second Epistle to the Thessalonias quoted above, and the position of The M+G+R Foundation, the reader must carefully review the teachings found in the First Book of Kings, Chapter 22, verses 15 - 23.

The triumph is not to be confounded with the transformation of the heavens and the earth, nor should it be confused with the return of Jesus. Her triumph is the fulfillment of her mission, the acknowledgment by the Church of all her titles, her privileges, and her rightful place in the mystery of Redemption, and finally in the crushing of the ancient serpent's head with her heel (the army of her little ones prepared by her). At that moment, Our Lady's mission is successfully completed and her triumph finally achieved, thus preparing the way for the return of Jesus to establish his kingdom on earth. May it be soon!
