The purpose of this document is not to preach on the "theologically
correct" way in which to interact with our favorite leaders - political
and/or religious. The purpose of this document is to illustrate the
grave consequences of de facto idolizing a human being - living or dead.
As we approach the manifestation of the False Christ (1) it is imperative that we
remain on guard toward this very human tendency.
11 And said: This will be the right of the king, that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and put them in his chariots, and will make them his horsemen, and his running footmen to run before his chariots, 12 And he will appoint of them to be his tribunes, and centurions, and to plough his fields, and to reap his corn, and to make him arms and chariots. 13 Your daughters also he will take to make him ointments, and to be his cooks, and bakers. 14 And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your best olive yards, and give them to his servants. 15 Moreover he will take the tenth of your corn, and of the revenues of your vineyards, to give his eunuchs and servants.
God knows our tendencies all too well, He made sure that we had clear
instructions from the very start to avoid such behavior.
First we read in Acts of the Apostles 10: 24-27
we read again in the Acts of the Apostles 14: 10-14
10 And when the multitudes had seen what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice in the Lycaonian tongue, saying: The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men; 11 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter: but Paul, Mercury; because he was chief speaker. 12 The priest also of Jupiter that was before the city, bringing oxen and garlands before the gate, would have offered sacrifice with the people. 13 Which, when the apostles Barnabas and Paul had heard, rending their clothes, they leaped out among the people, crying, 14 And saying: Ye men, why do ye these things? We also are mortals, men like unto you, preaching to you to be converted from these vain things, to the living God, who made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all things that are in them:
Naturally - man has done the
same thing not only with the Successors of Peter but with other
religious leaders as well as political leaders. Without a doubt, one
can and should show
respect for the appointed/elected religious and political leaders, i.e.
just as Daniel showed when he addressed Nabuchodonosor king of
Esther showed when addressing king Assuerus (6). Respect
thing - adoration is quite another.
But man would not stop there - man must find other ways to offend God while appearing to be the epitome of piety.
This brings us to the adoration of relics and bodies of deceased individuals considered by many to be holy.... while Jesus Christ, in His Real Presence, awaits in all the Tabernacles of the world for just a little attention, an attention which is seldom given.
Veneration of a relic or the body of a deceased individual who led a holy life is one thing, to adore it is blasphemy.
According to Webster's Dictionary:
To venerate is: To regard with reverential respect; to honor with mingled respect and awe; to reverence; to revere; as, we venerate parents and elders.
adore is: To worship with profound reverence; to pay divine
honors to; to honor as deity or as divine.
Recently the body of St. Pio was exhumed
and this is what we read (7):
The economy of this southern town revolves around the cult of Padre Pio and heaving crowds waited to see his body, displayed in a crystal, marble and silver sepulcher in the crypt of the monastery where he spent most of his life.
face was reconstructed with a lifelike silicone mask of the type
used in wax museums because it was apparently too decomposed to show
when the body was exhumed.
A poll in 2006 by Catholic magazine Famiglia Cristiana found that more Italian Catholics prayed to Padre Pio than to any other figure, including the Virgin Mary or Jesus. His picture is stuck to the dashboards of many taxis and cars throughout Italy.
When we find that individuals are praying
more to anyone - it does not matter who - than they pray to Mary and
Jesus we do have a
problem. When we find individuals that go on pilgrimages "to the
ends of the world" to venerate a relic or a living or dead human being
while Jesus languishes alone (alone = without living human
companionship) in the Tabernacles of the World, we do have a problem.
Logically, the un-Evangelized
and under-Evangelized people are waiting, without realizing it, for a
"Savior of the World" to
adore; a savior which will deliver humanity (8) from the misery
which grips a great part of the world already. satan, of
course, is most willing to comply since he has certainly waited
We are at peace for we have
amply warned the world (9) as to
what is to come and how (10); our great sorrow comes from
witnessing the suffering Our Lord Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Mother,
Mary, are enduring as the result of mankind's refusal to heed Their
What can we expect if after a spectacular
miracle (12) -
a given fact witnessed by 70,000 believers and unbelievers alike - and
lesser miracles which took place at the the same time and place -
Fatima, October 13, 1917 - Pope Benedict XV, by default, allowed (13) the
world to be plunged in the bloodiest conflict of human history.
