The US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has warned Roman Catholics to shun the eastern healing art of Reiki because it lacks scientific credibility and is dangerous to Christian spiritual health.

....Biblical scholars have long argued that the Dead Sea Scrolls were the work of an ascetic and celibate Jewish community known as the Essenes, which flourished in the 1st century A.D. in the scorching desert canyons near the Dead Sea. Now a prominent Israeli scholar, Rachel Elior, disputes that the Essenes ever existed at all - a claim that has shaken the bedrock of biblical scholarship.

Elior, who teaches Jewish mysticism at Jerusalem's Hebrew University, claims that the Essenes were a fabrication by the 1st century A.D. Jewish-Roman historian Flavius Josephus and that his faulty reporting was passed on as fact throughout the centuries.

As Elior explains, the Essenes make no mention of themselves in the 900 scrolls found by a Bedouin shepherd in 1947 in the caves of Qumran, near the Dead Sea. "Sixty years of research have been wasted trying to find the Essenes in the scrolls," Elior tells TIME. "But they didn't exist. This is legend on a legend." (1)

....the following verses of the Gospel According to John chapter 3 are not well understood by most? The verses in question are:

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him, may not perish; but may have life everlasting.

It may appear that John is making a parallel between the poisonous snakes of Moses time sent to chastise the sinful Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ, which, of course, he is not.

The elusive symbolism follows:

God sent the snakes in Moses time to strike the Israelites for their sinful complaints against God; read, the snakes represent those sins. After Moses' intervention, God gave the "formula" of making a bronze snake and placing it on a pole and those who looked at it would be cured. Said "formula" is the manifested act of Divine Mercy.

When we look at Jesus Crucified we are to remember that because of the Mercy of God, those who "believeth in him, may not perish" because He paid for our sins on the cross.

Likewise, the sinful Israelites who would look at the bronze serpent on a pole and believed in that act of the Mercy of God would not perish.

This is the second time in March that an asteroid has flown so close to Earth. On March 2nd, 2009 DD45 passed by only 72,000 km away. Measuring some tens of meters in diameter, 2009 DD45 and 2009 FH are approximately Tunguska-class objects, meaning they pose no global threat but could cause local damage if they actually hit Earth.

...the latest Will Smith's movie - "Seven Souls" - moving as it is, has to be the most effective promotion of suicide to relieve a guilty conscience?

What makes it so insidious is that throughout most of the movie one witnesses the most altruistic and selfless behavior a human being could possibly exhibit, and then, the grand finale.

The same emotional effect could have been achieved with an individual who had a terminal, non transmittable, disease utilizing the enormous emotional capital accumulated throughout the film to promote the Second Commandment - Love thy neighbor as thyself. Instead, such enormous capital was utilized to promote suicide as a means for relieving a guilty conscience that gnaws at one's soul.

Then people - on a worldwide scale - with the usual glazed over stare - wonder "What went wrong?" when individuals across the globe commit apparently unexplainable horrors.

We would give the score of the "game" between satan and organized religion (all of them!) but that game ended some time ago and satan won it. That is why only God "can save the day".

...the body of St. Teresa de Jesus (aka St. Teresa de Avila) was essentially dismembered for the sake of "keeping relics"? (1)

We knew that her right arm and heart are on display in two relic show cases located at either side of the Tabernacle in the Carmelite convent of Alba de Tormes where she passed on to eternal life. That was already very hard to endure.... until we found out about the rest....

Left hand was cut off and eventually ended in Lisbon, Portugal.
The little finger of her left hand was cut off and taken by the Spiritual Director, fr. Graciano, as, essentially, a good luck charm.
Right foot and part of her jaw are kept in Rome.
Right hand, one eye and various and sundry pieces of her body are spread over Spain and selected other countries.

What is left of her body is in a beautiful coffin-like-urn above the altar of the chapel of the Carmelite convent of Alba de Tormes. We know that she would have never approved of the Napoleonic style coffin-like-urn nor its placement: Several meters off the floor level and above the Tabernacle of our Beloved Jesus. Not to mention the passing out of pieces of her body as of they were good luck charms.

This type of ghoulish practice is what the Vatican II tried to stop with some of the rulings regarding the veneration of relics.

If we, who uphold the true Faith and denounce this kind of quasi voo-doo practice, are horrified, imagine what the poorly Evangelized Catholics as well as the enemies of the Faith can do with this kind of "devotional" example.

An Opus Dei Priest opens door on civil ceremonies.

Comments: After reviewing the full news story consider the following:

(a) It is fine for an immorally clad bride to be married in a Catholic wedding ceremony;
(b) It is fine for an unprepared couple to mock the Sacrament in a Catholic wedding ceremony;
(c) It is fine for a child abuser priest to conduct a Catholic marriage ceremony;
(d) It is fine for a Bishop or Cardinal (2) who has clearly covered up the sexual abuse perpetrated upon the more vulnerable members of his flock to oversee a Diocese or Archdiocese;
(e) etc., etc.

but.... for a Catholic to attend a civil wedding ceremony... Ohhh, noooo! That's a "No-No".

But "help" is on the way.... a priest of the same Opus Dei which has lauded the Harry Potter's series (3) claims that under extreme circumstances a Catholic may attend a civil wedding ceremony.

Yet.... we still wonder why our young ones dismiss organized religion as just another traditional myth with not substantial foundation.

... all phone cards (chips) that were purchased in Spain, and which were not registered to any name (something common in some European countries), will be deactivated on November 8, 2009? To prevent this one must register each phone card (chip) with name, address and national ID number.

This, of course, is for national security.... as all that is being done to turn the world on a Police State (1) in preparation fro the NWO (2).

The peddled "logic" is that this will prevent terrorist from using non registered phone cards for communication and/or setting remotely operated explosives.

As it is now - even if a phone card (chip) is unregistered it could be traced back to a point of sale and could (it has been done already) be eventually traced back to the buyer.

As it will be after registration: (a) All law abiding citizens will have, in effect, an ID chip with them in the form of a mobile phone; and (b) All terrorists will have to do is steal any phone and use it for their nefarious activities - but, this time, since it was stolen, there will not be the slightest chance of tracing back the card to the guilty party.

Now - Aren't you feeling more secure....? If all of this were not se serious it would be amusing.

However, this "cause and effect" is not what was behind the persecution of Jews for millennia; a persecution culminating in the holocaust. ...a newly-discovered asteroid 2009 DD45 will come as close to Earth as only twice the height of a geostationary communications

The asteroid measures 30 to 40 meters across, similar in size to the Tunguska impactor of 1908. Closest approach occurs at approximately 1340 UT (5:40 am PST) on March 2nd.

Comments: As the reader may see - if the asteroid were to impact - with all the billions of dollars spent is Space Research and associated equipment - humanity would still have no real warning.

...a spokesman for the Syro-Malabar order of the Catholic Church, Dr Paul Thelakkat, when asked if the church would be shocked by the allegations in Sister Jesme's book, he replied: "Absolutely not. The church knows about these things." (1)

Sister Jesme, a former nun's tell-all story which details illicit relationships, sexual harassment and bullying in the convent where she spent three decades is causing ructions in the Catholic Church in the south Indian state of Kerala.

Comments: The grave problem is compounded by what the Church spokesman stated (quoted above) and some of the most sordid details in the book. i.e. In Amen - an autobiography of a nun, Sister Jesme says when she became a nun she discovered priests were forcing novices to have sex with them. There were also secret homosexual relationships among the nuns and at one point she was forced into such a relationship by another nun who told her she preferred this kind of arrangement as it ruled out the possibility of pregnancy.

Let us not forget that this is in a country which many are fanning the anti Catholic flames as we have reported several times in the past.

Indeed the Gates of Hell will not prevail against the Church but, as we have clearly pointed out: Some conditions do apply.
