...Roman Catholic Church leaders in Dublin spent decades sheltering child-abusing priests from the law and most fellow clerics turned a blind eye, an investigation ordered by Ireland's government concluded Thursday? (1)
[our highlights]

The report in May sought to document the scale of abuse as well as the reasons why church and state authorities didn't stop it, whereas Thursday's 720-page report focused on why church leaders in the Dublin Archdiocese — home to a quarter of Ireland's 4 million Catholics — did not tell police about a single abuse complaint against a priest until 1995.

Dublin Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, who handed over more than 60,000 previously secret church files to the three-year investigation, said he felt deep shame and sorrow for how previous archbishops presided over endemic child abuse — yet claimed afterward not to understand the gravity of their sins.

Martin said his four predecessors in Ireland's capital, including retired Cardinal Desmond Connell, must have understood that priests' molestation and rape of boys and girls "was a crime in both civil and canon law. For some reason or another they felt they could deal with all this in little worlds of their own.

"They were wrong, and children were left to suffer."

There was a similarly shocking investigation into decades of unchecked child abuse in Irish schools, workhouses and orphanages run nationwide by 19 Catholic orders of nuns, priests and brothers.

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: We could never make enough reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary for such horrendous offenses were it not through an appeal to His Mercy; a Mercy which we do not deserve but humbly, and with a heart full of Thanksgiving, will accept.

...not even the trash will escape Big Brother? (1)

What if we knew exactly where our trash was going and how much energy it took to make it disappear? Would it make us think twice about buying bottled water or "disposable" razors?

A team of MIT researchers today announced a major project called Trash Track, which aims to get people thinking about what they throw away. Trash Track relies on the development of special electronic tags that will track different types of waste on their journey through the disposal systems of New York and Seattle.

The project will monitor the patterns and costs of urban disposal and create awareness of the impact of trash on our environment - revealing the last journey of our everyday objects.

...Bishop Rick Painter has been convicted by the city on two counts of disturbing the peace for ringing his church’s bells? (1)

One man’s joyful noise is another’s aural pollution. Ask Bishop Rick Painter of the Cathedral of Christ the King in Phoenix. He has been convicted by the city on two counts of disturbing the peace for ringing his church’s bells.

“It’s upsetting, obviously, that something that started out as a civil complaint got picked up by the city and taken to court,” says Painter, 68. “Church bells were rung in this nation since before it was a nation.”

...if President Bush, father, was the Godfather of the New World Order (1) we can attest that M. Gorbachev was its father?

Excerpts of Address by the then Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev at the 43rd U.N. General Assembly Session December 7, 1988 (2)

Further world progress is now possible only through the search for a consensus of all mankind, in movement toward a new world order. We have arrived at a frontier at which controlled spontaneity leads to a dead end. The world community must learn to shape and direct the process in such a way as to preserve civilization, to make it safe for all and more pleasant for normal life. It is a question of cooperation that could be more accurately called "co-creation" and "co-development."

.....

We acknowledge and value the contribution of President Ronald Reagan and the members of his administration, above all Mr. George Shultz. All this is capital that has been invested in a joint undertaking of historic importance. It must not be wasted or left out of circulation. The future U.S. administration headed by newly elected President George Bush will find in us a partner, ready -- without long pauses and backward movements -- to continue the dialogue in a spirit of realism, openness, and goodwill, and with a striving for concrete results, over an agenda encompassing the key issues of Soviet-U.S. relations and international politics.

...John Paul II would punish himself and in particular just before he ordained bishops and priests? (1)

...before passing on the sacraments he wanted to prepare himself.

As part of the Vatican’s investigation, thousands of documents have been examined by officials from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. Among them is the testimony of Polish nun Tobiana Sobodka, a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus order.

She worked for Pope John Paul in his private Vatican apartments and at his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo near Rome.

Sister Sobodka said: “Several times he would put himself through bodily penance.

“We would hear it – we were in the next room at Castel Gandolfo. You could hear the sound of the blows when he flagellated himself. He did it when he was still capable of moving on his own.”

The whipping is also confirmed by Bishop Emery Kabongo, for several years a secretary for Pope John Paul.

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: It would have been a far greater sacrifice if he had cleaned out the Hierarchy of pedophile protectors and forced Cardinal Law and others into retirement in some secluded monastery - of which they have thousands in Europe.

As much as we liked him, we are not impressed.

...to fully understand Chile’s oligarchs, it is best to direct the reader to Maria Olivia Monckeberg’s “The Opus Dei Empire in Chile”, among others? (1)

Why does a country as diverse as Chile have such a uniformly somber and ultra-conservative media establishment? That’s the question that National Journalism Prize winner (2009) Maria Olivia Monckeberg tackles with her latest book, “The Press Magnates.”

Monckeberg says it is partly about the cozy reciprocal relationship the Edwards clan (owners of the El Mercurio media group) and the Copesa business holding (owners of La Tercera) had with the military regime of Gen. Augusto Pinochet: the media kept mum about the disappearances and torture that characterized the dictatorship, and the general kept competitors at bay.

The self-censorship by these two media was rewarded, too, with multi-million dollar government bailouts during the economically trying 1980s: state credits and very easy terms were given to both El Mercurio and La Tercera. After surviving those tough years with a generous helping hand from the dictatorship, the El Mercurio and La Tercera duopoly now receive an astounding 82.7% of all print media advertising sold in Chile.

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: The problem - of course - continues to be the identification, by the general public, of Opus Dei with anything Catholic when there could be nothing further from the truth. The Jesus' truth, that is.

...the appointed (not elected) powerful new European Union President "fits the bill to a T" for the individual called for on the schedule of events associated with the End of These Times? (1)
[our highlights]

“The ‘ideal candidate,’ said Nicolas Sarkozy, the French President, for bring “consensus and cohesion” to a fractious EU of 27 member states. In reality, and behind his harmless, eccentric and literary persona, Mr Van Rompuy, 62, is a sharp political operator who is not above using dirty tricks to stymie his opponents. Europe’s leaders may find to their cost that the man they chose to chair their EU summits possesses dark arts that will be turned against anyone, such as an incoming Conservative prime minister, who challenges the Brussels consensus.

Last year, six months before becoming prime minister, he abused his position as speaker of the Belgian parliament to cancel a politically inconvenient debate. To make doubly sure that MPs would be silenced, he had the locks on the plenary chamber’s doors changed so deputies could not get into their own parliament. The tactic was described by opposition MPs as a ‘coup d’etat.’

On another occasion, Mr Van Rompuy did not turn up in his office for a week to avoid opening a letter from opposition MPs demanding a debate. His skill as camouflaging himself as essentially harmless disarmed Gordon Brown who dropped British concerns over his federalist politics to allow him into the EU President post. Mr Van Rompuy is a supporter of the creation of an EU federal state, with its own anthem, flag and with powers to collect taxes on car fuel or financial transactions from Europe’s citizens.

...atheist student groups flourish on college campuses? (1)
The sign sits propped on a wooden chair, inviting all comers: "Ask an Atheist."

Whenever a student gets within a few feet, Anastasia Bodnar waves and smiles, trying to make a good first impression before eyes drift down to a word many Americans rank down there with "socialist."

Bodnar is the happy face of atheism at Iowa State University. Once a week at this booth at a campus community center, the PhD student who spends most of her time researching the nutritional traits of corn takes questions and occasional abuse while trying to raise the profile of religious skepticism.

As the stigma of atheism has diminished, campus atheists and agnostics are coming out of the closet, fueling a sharp rise in the number of clubs like the 10-year-old group at Iowa State.

Campus affiliates of the Secular Student Alliance, a sort of Godless Campus Crusade for Christ, have multiplied from 80 in 2007 to 100 in 2008 and 174 this fall, providing the atheist movement new training grounds for future leaders. In another sign of growing acceptance, at least three universities, including Harvard, now have humanist chaplains meeting the needs of the not-so-spiritual.

...on August 4th, 1961, the Castro Regime in Cuba changed - without prior notice - all of the paper currency overnight?

Whatever an individual had in a bank was automatically exchanged without a problem. All the currency stashed away in mattresses, buried and in safes - which was most of it - became useless overnight.

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: It has been effectively done before and it can be just as effectively done elsewhere again. This is the most effective way to, through a single act, "wash" what a regime considers "black money".

...the Roman Catholic Church lost all their money in Cuba then because they did not keep their money in banks? (1)

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: About that time the persecution of the Catholic Church in Cuba was going "full steam ahead". They had made it easy for the Castro regime since "they, who never get involved in politics" had been involved in the Bay of Pigs invasion in April 1961 and were actively involved in anti-Castro activities.

Perhaps a worse regime - that of Italian Republicans in mid 19th century - allowed, encouraged and sometimes assisted financially the work of Don John Bosco. (2) Why? Because Don Bosco did exactly what Jesus taught and practiced, and, even being 1,000 % loyal to the Vatican in Faith matters, he stayed out of any political activity. He focused in Evangelizing and educating upright and honest citizens.

What a difference it makes when we live what we claim to be but are not!

...Black Metal Music is now being glorified by the "vissionary intelligentia"?
[our highlights]

...some of the best modern popular music being recorded and released today is coming from extreme Metal musicians.
I rate this music highly not only because it is technically accomplished, artistically honest, and multifarious in style, but also because both in form and content, it is as European as Beethoven, Berlioz, Holst, and Wagner.
.....

This lack of age correlation results perhaps from the fact that the themes of contemporary extreme Metal have little to do with those that are commonly associated with traditional Heavy Metal. While the latter is largely defined by a youthful preoccupation with rebelling against parents, the former is largely defined by a young generation’s yearning for the values of their grandparents—or, perhaps more accurately, the values of their great-great-great-grandparents. On a symbolic level, Heavy Metal fans think that their parents are too conservative; Black Metal fans think that their parents are nowhere near conservative enough. The parents of Heavy Metal fans feel betrayed by their sons, whom they regard as embarrassing hooligans; fans of Black Metal feel betrayed by their parents, whom they regard as embarrassing liberals. Heavy Metal fans want to drink beer, have sex, and smash hotel rooms.

Black Metal fans want to smash the system—but not out of a brainless, juvenile impulse. They believe the system is rotten; they have an elitist contempt for mass society; and they desire a new order, one founded on radically traditional, heroic, spiritual, or mystical values.

.....

This type of music appeals to individuals from all walks of life, who, nevertheless, share a common turn of mind: one that is inegalitarian, neo-pagan, non-manichean, neo-Romantic, and anti-modern; one that is, in other words, Nietzschean and Darwinian, or, perhaps more accurately and succinctly, völkisch. I submit that in times when the liberal project has proven itself a catastrophic failure; when it is increasingly obvious to many that its premises are false, its scholarship a fraud, its politics a sham, and its utopia impossible; when it is revealed that the only possible future it leads to is political oppression and a managed descent into universal poverty, manifestations within popular culture of an anti-liberal, counter-cultural current are of particular interest. They may, after all, point to what could one day replace our present liberal establishment, once it comes crashing down around our ears.

Comments: . The author of this article is saying - in effect - that Black Metal is Nazi music for the 21st century ... volkisch, Nietschean, Darwinian, inegalitarian, anti-modern.

According to Wikipedia: "As part of this, many artists write lyrics that could be seen to promote atheism, antitheism, paganism and Satanism. Other themes that are commonly explored include depression, nihilism, misanthropy and death. However, many black metal artists write lyrics that are inspired by winter, nature, mythology, folklore and fantasy narratives."

So there! Anything goes... it is just a matter of "spinning it" just right.

...Bishops are discussing their authority over Catholic colleges? (1)

Fallout continues from the summer controversy over the University of Notre Dame awarding an honorary degree to President Barack Obama, who supports abortion rights.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops went behind closed doors at their fall meeting Wednesday to discuss, among other issues, what action they should take to increase oversight of the nation's more than 200 Roman Catholic colleges and universities.

Chicago Cardinal Francis George, president of the bishops' conference, revealed this week that he had formed a task force charged with reviewing the issue. Its research included a look at what church law says about bishops' authority over the schools.

The Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities has planned a similar discussion of canon law and bishops' authority at the group's annual meeting, set to begin Jan. 30 in Washington.

"Can bishops just pull the plug on us? It's not that simple," said Richard Yanikoski, president of the Catholic college association. He attended a meeting of the bishops' education committee last Sunday that briefly touched on higher education. He expected the bishops' would more fully examine the issue in their executive session.

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: In spite of our opinion about the Church Administration (2), we believe that if an educational institution is going to brandish the "Catholic" identity, the US Episcopal Conference should have the final word on matters which may cause scandal (scandal = harmful to the Faith of the innocent). ...a new ocean or sea is forming in the African continent? (1)

A 35-mile rift in the desert of Ethiopia will eventually become a new ocean or sea, researchers now confirm.

The crack, 20 feet wide in spots, opened in 2005. Some geologists believed then that it would spawn a new ocean. But that view was controversial, and the rift had not been well studied.

A new study involving an international team of scientists and reported in the journal Geophysical Research Letters finds the processes creating the rift are nearly identical to what goes on at the bottom of oceans, further indication a new sea is in the region's future

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: As long as the Ethiopian Orthodox Church does not claim that this proves that they indeed hold the Ark of the Covenant (God through Moses parted the Red Sea and now they would claim that by means of the Ark God is parting the African continent), it is nothing more than an intersting geological development.

...Texas supreme court affirms special rights for religion?

[our highlighting]

The Texas state supreme court ruled unanimously on Friday that a town which had altered its zoning to ban two church-sponsored halfway houses in a residential neighborhood was in violation of the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

That act, which was passed in 1999 and endorsed by then-Governor George W. Bush, affords greater legal protection to religious operations than to equivalent secular operations.

Under its provisions, cities have to prove that zoning regulations — like the one passed by the town of Sinton to ban jails and rehabs within 1000 feet of a home, school, or church — further a “compelling” interest, such as protecting public safety, and do not place a “substantial burden” on the free exercise of religion.

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: Of course, that is the State of the Union which has the most applications of the death penalty. Of course - there is coherence there. Applied "religion" has very little to do with God and His Law.

Applied "religion" is about using the Holy Name of God to "get away with murder".

...the oldest permanent US city is St. Augustine, Florida, and the first US Catholic parish was established there? (1)

[our highlights]

The earliest documents detail the births, confirmations, marriages and deaths of the Spanish residents in St. Augustine from 1594 to 1763, when the British took over Florida.

Dated Jan. 24, 1594, and handwritten by Father Diego Escobar de Sambrana, the record held by Bitzer details the marriage of soldier Gabriel Hernandez to Catalina de Valdes in St. Augustine, some 26 years before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock.

Other treasures in the archives include the records, headboard, and a piece of the coffin belonging to Pedro Menendez de Aviles, the Spanish Navy admiral who founded St. Augustine in 1565.

There are also records of the diocese's nine bishops and the Spanish colonial government, and microfilm of records on explorations, the attacks of English and French corsairs, the development of slavery and reports on Indian customs and languages.

Missing from the collection are the documents from the first 29 years of Catholic life in St. Augustine. Gannon believes they may have been destroyed by Sir Francis Drake, the English privateer, who sacked the town in 1586.

miguel de Portugal Comments: Divine Providence had it that my two last extended stays in the US were precisely in St. Augustine. ...St. John Chrysostom (347 - 407) was literally ran out of Constantinople after he became its Patriarch (in 397 AD) and started cleaning out the already corrupt Church?

"In 397 John Chrysostom was transferred to Constantinople to be the new patriarch. The previous patriarch had been easygoing and lax but John was not. He insisted on holiness from his clergy. He did not give or attend lavish social parties. He sold some of the new furniture in the patriarchal residence to build a hospital. He preached against luxury and greed. Many opposed him. including the empress. The patriarch of Alexandria. Theophilus, also resented him and conspired to ruin him." (1)

Eventually he was banished to the Caucasus in Armenia.

It was only in the year 313 AD that the Edict of Milan legalized Christianity in the Roman Empire - a legalization which paved the way to make it the de facto

It had barely taken 72 years [397 AD minus 325 AD] for the formerly Holy Church Administration to go to the proverbial dogs... almost 1600 years before the "Blame-it-all on Second Vatican Council" took place. (3)

But before you head for the nuclear bunkers you will be relieved to learn the tumbling rock was only 23ft across. Similar sized objects pass by this close to Earth about twice a year and impact on the planet about once every five years.

...we may have "found" the Tabernacle and Ark of the Covenant claimed by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church to be in Axum (1)?

We did not have to travel outside of our Private Chapel where we were reviewing a book originally published in 1906. A hidden (2) reference in that book led us to where the Holy Scriptures tell us of the final disposition of the Tabernacle and Ark of the Covenant. In the Second Book of the Maccabees we read in Chapter 2:

[our highlighting]

1 Now it is found in the descriptions (3) of Jeremias the prophet, that he commanded them that went into captivity, to take the fire, as it hath been signified, and how he gave charge to them that were carried away into captivity. 2 And how he gave them the law that they should not forget the commandments of the Lord, and that they should not err in their minds, seeing the idols of gold, and silver, and the ornaments of them. 3 And with other such like speeches, he exhorted them that they would not remove the law from their heart. 4 It was also contained in the same writing, how the prophet, being warned by God, commanded that the tabernacle and the ark should accompany him, till he came forth to the mountain where Moses went up, and saw the inheritance of God. 5 And when Jeremias came thither he found a hollow cave: and he carried in thither the tabernacle, and the ark, and the altar of incense, and so stopped the door.

6 Then some of them that followed him, came up to mark the place: but they could not find it. 7 And when Jeremias perceived it, he blamed them, saying:
The place shall be unknown, till God gather together the congregation of the people, and receive them to mercy. 8 And then the Lord will shew these things, and the majesty of the Lord shall appear, and there shall be a cloud as it was also shewed to Moses, and he shewed it when Solomon prayed that the place might be sanctified to the great God.

The Second Book of the Maccabees was the last book of the Old Testament. It was written in Koine Greek, probably in Alexandria, Egypt, c 124 BC. It presents a revised version of the historical events recounted in the first seven chapters of 1 Maccabees, adding material from the Pharisaic tradition, including prayer for the dead and a resurrection on Judgment Day. Catholics and Orthodox consider the work to be canonical and part of the Bible. Protestants and Jews reject most of the doctrinal innovations present in the work. (4)

"Knowing" as we know Jeremiah as well as his relationship with God, what we read in " Maccabees 9:1-8 is the most theo-logical explanation of what happened with the Tabernacle and Ark of the Covenant.

Of course, if we emulated the Media's technique (too keep the issue going indefinitely) we could say that someone came after and stole them and took them to Ethiopia. This scenario is highly improbable since there would have been some record of it - after all, we are talking about the Holiest physical items for the Jewish Faith and not a couple of old wine jugs.

As far as we are concerned, that settles the issue: The Ark of the Covenant is not in Axum, Ethiopia.

...the fundamental reason for which applied Christianity has failed is clearly stated in the New Testament just as the fact that it would fail?

First - The prophecy that it would fail...

...But yet the Son of man, when he cometh, shall he find, think you, faith on earth? [Luke 18:8]

In modern English [NIV] (to avoid misunderstandings):

...However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?[Luke 18:8]

Second - What man has not done... which has caused applied Christianity to fail...

If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. [Luke 14:26]

Of course, Jesus is not using the word "hate" as we understand it. "Hate" is an impossible attribute for God. So then, what is He referring to?

This is what He is referring to...

...Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind: and thy neighbour as thyself. [Luke 10:27]

We shall now rewrite Luke 14:26 as it was meant...

If any man come to me, and does not place me before his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. [Luke 14:26]

It is that simple! Once the proverbial "chips are down" God is placed on the back seat by most while everyone else is given priority.

A personal note from miguel de Portugal

(The "I" refers to the man who later became miguel de Portugal)

Tragically, in 24 years of journey, I have only recognized precious few individuals (the first and foremost of them I call Mother Elizabeth) who would selflessly place God before all.

Mother Elizabeth was the (financially) poorest individual with whom I have interacted on a personal/spiritual and continuous basis for years - a childless widow nearing ninety years old who lived in a house which was literally falling down, with no air conditioned in a 90+ ºF and 90% humidity environment, yet, she is the richest individual I ever met.

So rich that when God tested my loyalty and faith by allowing me to reach a penniless state
(1) she offered me all her life savings so that I could get from under a crushing debt, (2) (a debt which was beyond her comprehension). Her life savings totaled just under 500 US dollars. (3) It was then and there that I met in person the widow of the much talked about "widow's mite" [Mark 12:43].

I have no doubt that the soul of Elizabeth Carter Garza (4) is now basking in the revealed Glorious Presence of God.

After this severe test, the "financial Gates from Heaven" opened so that when He said some years later: "Leave all behind and follow Me" the proverbial grain stores were overflowing, but dealt with as He indicated.
(2) By not going against Divine Law a number of financial reverses were accepted thus driving me to such financial state.
(3) Naturally, the offer was not accepted, however, less than an hour later the first "financial drop" from Heaven fell - to later turn into the above mentioned torrent.

Gorbachev praised US President Barack Obama, who has sought to improve the United States' image and repair US-Russian relations that were damaged under his predecessor George W. Bush.

Comparing Obama's efforts with his own attempt to reform the Soviet Union in the 1980s -- which was called "perestroika", or "restructuring" -- Gorbachev said that Obama faced the harder task.

"I do not envy Obama, because I think changing and 'restructuring' America is not easier than changing the Soviet Union," Gorbachev said.

"I wish the Americans luck. I think the president's steps need the support of the American people," he added.

Gorbachev, a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990, also said he approved of Obama's unexpected Peace Prize victory last month, saying it could help push the United States towards greater multilateralism.

Fear changes the body chemistry in destructive ways and suppresses immunity. The ominous title of “swine” flu may be one reason people have flocked to get medicine and vaccines for a flu that is less debilitating than the regular flu.

The diocesan Council of the Presbyterium invited all the priests to donate one month's salary, which amounts to some $1,340, to a charitable organization that supports victims of the economic crisis.

Even though "individually and discreetly, numerous priests contribute to the financing of charitable organizations," a statement on the diocesan Web site acknowledged, "we wish to express our closeness by a particular financial commitment."

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: Some good news for a change!

The merit is even greater than it appears since those priests really know how immensily wealthy the Roman Catholic Church (including the religious orders) is, yet they are reaching into their own pockets to help the poor.

[our highlighting]

“For the most part, the data was accessible to you in a piecemeal fashion,” Shuman Ghosemajumder, business product manager for trust and safety, said in an interview Wednesday. “This is about providing you with a one-stop shop to see all of the data about you in various products.” (such as: Gmail, Picasa Web Albums, Web History, Checkout, Reader and YouTube)

Mr. Ghosemajumder said Dashboard would offer users more transparency and control. The dashboard for Gmail, for example, will list the number of conversations in your inbox and the total number of conversations in your account, as well as how many chat sessions it has stored. Links for changing settings will be easily accessible.

Dahsboard provides information only about users’ Google accounts for products that require them to log in or for products in which the log-in is optional. It does not address the search records of people who are not logged into Google or the cookie data that Google uses to aim ads at people.

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: We recommend that after using any of the Google or Yahoo accounts, for example, you sign out from the service.

However, that is not 100% fool proof and they say so in a convoluted way:

The dashboard "...does not address the search records of people who are not logged into Google or the cookie data that Google uses to aim ads at people. While such data, which typically includes a computer's Internet Protocol (IP address) is not associated with personally identifiable information like names and addresses, it can often be linked with individuals."

How "it can often be linked with individuals."? Since they link all information gathered to your computer IP and you sign in to the Google services using that IP protocol - Voilá! - They have it all!

...a ruling by the European court of human rights said the display of crucifixes in Italian public schools violates religious and education freedoms? (1)

In a decision that could force a review of the use of religious symbols in government-run schools across Europe, the court ordered Italy to pay a $7,390 fine to a mother in northern Italy who fought for eight years to have crucifixes removed from her children's public school classrooms. The Italian government said it would appeal.

Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi said the crucifix was a fundamental sign of the importance of religious values in Italian history and culture and was a symbol of unity and welcoming for all of humanity — not one of exclusion.

He said a European court had no right intervening in such a profoundly Italian matter and said "it seems as if the court wanted to ignore the role of Christianity in forming Europe's identity, which was and remains essential."

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: The same situation is brewing in other predominantly Catholic countries within the EU. Of course, the EU will have its way since they live by the "Golden Rule": He who owns the gold makes the rules and those countries are heavily indebted to the EU.

...Texas churches help paved way for new Vatican plan? (1)

[our highlighting]

At Saint Mary the Virgin Catholic Church, the 75-year-old priest is married, members sing from an Episcopalian hymnal and parishioners kneel at the altar to receive Communion.

Years ago, the Texas parish and a handful of other conservative Episcopal churches in the U.S. decided to become Roman Catholic. Though they were confirmed by the Vatican, they were still allowed to practice some of their Anglican traditions, including having married priests.

Now, these churches may have helped pave the way for Anglicans worldwide, or Episcopalians as they are known in the U.S., to become Catholic under a new Vatican plan created to make it easier for such conversions. The surprise move revealed in October is designed to entice traditionalists opposed to women priests, openly gay clergy and blessing of same-sex unions.

Varley joins Goldman Sachs International adviser Brian Griffiths and Lazard International Chairman Ken Costa as London bankers who’ve gone into London churches in recent weeks and invoked Christianity to defend a banking system that critics say has created wealth and inequality in the U.K.

“The injunction of Jesus to love others as ourselves is an endorsement of self-interest,” Goldman’s Griffiths said Oct. 20, his voice echoing around the gold-mosaic walls of St. Paul’s Cathedral, whose 365-feet-high dome towers over the City, London’s financial district. “We have to tolerate the inequality as a way to achieving greater prosperity and opportunity for all.”

“It seems like the bankers aren’t listening to society,” said Jacob Needleman, a professor of philosophy at San Francisco State University and author of “Money and the Meaning of Life.” Needleman said Griffiths should make “an immediate donation of some several million pounds to a beautiful charity” to show he can “walk the talk.”

For Richard Chartres, the bishop of London, Varley, Griffiths and Costa are men of “high moral integrity and they know what a danger it is” to speak about banking in church.

...there is a significant and increasing body of evidence for a link between mobile phone usage and certain brain tumors? (1)

For the study, researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, and a consortium of Korean institutions examined 465 articles published in major journals, focusing on 23 case-controlled studies involving a total of 37,916 patients for their final analysis. Some of the patients (controls) had no history of brain tumors, while the others had been diagnosed with brain tumors.

Considered as a group, the studies showed no link between cell phone use and brain tumors. But separated into subgroups and reanalyzed, eight of the “higher quality” studies, most conducted by the same research team in Sweden, found cell phone users to have a 10 to 30 percent increased risk for developing a brain tumo

But the mobile communications industry argues that cell phones have been shown to be safe, and should be considered so until they are shown conclusively to be unsafe.

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: If anyone expects the mobile communications industry to ever admit to such danger, do so sitting down for the wait is going to be very, very long. "It is possible for us today to together learn from Martin Luther," said Cardinal Walter Kasper, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity as he planted the first of 500 trees on 1 November in a landscaped Luther Garden, forming part of the celebrations for 2017.

"This is a reformation event, the nailing of the theses in 1517. It is also an ecumenical event," Nyomi told ENI. "1517 has to do with the renewal of the whole church family and therefore needs to be commemorated ecumenically, affirming our common heritage."

Cardinal Kasper told ENI that he hoped the 500th anniversary of the Reformation would be marked jointly by Catholics and Protestants.

The M+G+R Foundation Comments: Being that the case, wouldn't it be appropriate for the Roman Catholic Church Administration to publicly endorse to all 95 theses (2) that Luther posted on the door of the church in 1517, and what followed later?

We are not downplaying the importance of harmonious relationship amongst different faiths; we are only highlighting that "let's cause scandal" seems to be the by-line of the Ratzinger Administration. A logical by-line...

One paramount example of such policy were the visits to, and instructions through, Fatima with the appropriate warnings about the consequences if ignored.

On a more subtle manner, but with consequences of even greater import if not heeded, another example was our letter (*) to Joaquin Navarro-Valls the Opus Dei "handler" of H.H. John Paul II.

Pax Vobis!

It has been brought to our attention (1) that Australian Cardinal George Pell is being considered as Prefect for Congregation for Bishops.

In an effort to avoid yet another embarrassment to the current Vatican Administration with the consequential damage to whatever little faith is left amongst Catholics we wish to bring up to your attention the following quote from a document (2) prepared by Mr. Lee Penn:

==============================

• In Australia, Cardinal George Pell - “ much beloved by the Vatican and by conservative Catholics for his loyalty to the papal Magisterium - “ wrote in February 2003 to Anthony Jones, an adult victim of priestly rape, that his accusations could not be true because the Church had received no other sexual assault complaints against the alleged offender. [1] The same day, Cardinal Pell wrote another letter to another victim of the same priest, accepting his claim that he had been assaulted as a boy by Fr. Terence Goodall. The two letters came to light due to civil and criminal suits, and Fr. Goodall was convicted in 2005 of indecent assault against Jones. Unsurprisingly, Mr. Jones says that Pell's deceitful denial

"destroyed my faith. Ripped it to pieces. I now hate Catholicism because of what Cardinal Pell has done to me."

[1] Information in this paragraph is from Conor Duffy and Tim Palmer, " Exclusive documents reveal church ignored abuse allegations, " Australian Broadcasting Corporation, July 7, 2008, http://www.abc.net.au/lateline/content/2008/s2297016.htm, viewed 10/09/08.

==============================

I pray that more prudence and less haste is utilized in bringing Cardinal Pell under additional public scrutiny. As you well know through personal experience, that is not a good idea these days.

May the Holy Spirit of God guide you.

...nearly 200,000 Americans die every year from medical mistakes that could have been prevented, while the number of deaths due to auto accidents is onçly 40,000 - only one fifth? (1)

Ten years ago, a highly publicized federal report [“To Err is Human”] called the death toll shocking and challenged the medical community to cut it in half -- within five years.

Instead, federal analysts believe the rate of medical error is actually increasing.

A national investigation by Hearst Newspapers found that the medical community, the federal government and most states have overwhelmingly failed to take the effective steps outlined in the report a decade ago.

Consequently, over that period, as many as 2 million Americans have died needlessly of preventable medical mistakes.

This is an update to a previous notification for this event

This situation is happening far too often not to raise a series of red flags, which coupled with...

...the fact that it appears that past earthquake data has been pulled out or has become next to impossible to locate, spells "trouble".

When we did our first quantification of the "energy released by an earthquake" study back in 2002 (3) we could access data back many decades, and we did.

When we attempted to update the study in 2009 (4) we could not find the past data needed. Blessedly we had stored the original pages accessed when the 2002 study was made, thus we had the information we needed and which was no longer on line.

Brethren - when "they" frequently keep "deleting" records of earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.0 and above - earthquakes hard to miss or not picked up by mistake by seismometers; when we have seen the news reports of damage done by earthquakes which were pronounced "deleted" - with a notice like the one above; when we receive a tsunami advisory report (always issued when there is an earthquake) stating whether there is a tsunami danger or not, then, we receive the notification of the earthquake from the appropriate department, only to then receive a deletion of the earthquake but NOT a word from the tsunami center... something is really amiss.

At the risk of being called alarmists we can only conclude that "something" out of the ordinary is causing an ever increasing amount of earthquakes and the authorities are going to great lengths to cover it up.

Of course - that would be consistent with "the schedule"... for which the only remedy continues to be... Let us continue to pray!

A Holy See statement Saturday quoted Cardinal William Levada, the Holy See's guardian of doctrinal correctness, as saying the Vatican would consider accepting married Anglican priests into the Roman Catholic priesthood as it has in the past – evaluating each case on its own merits.

The Roman Catholic church requires its priests to be celibate, except in the case of the Eastern rite Catholics, who are allowed to be ordained if married. But over the last decades, it has also quietly allowed married Anglican clergy to stay priests when converting to Catholicism.

In no case could a married man become a bishop, and the new rules would exclude any married Anglican bishop from retaining that post.

As you will see (1) this issue seems to be a hoax originating from a real proposal dating back to the year 2000 - a proposal which failed to make it; however, it has enough facts to make it believable within the Alice in Wonderland background we are living through today.

Let us face it - given the government sponsored and manufactured swine flu mega-scare, having to list guns in the tax report does not sound too out of line.

Remember... the Faithful must be ...wise as serpents and simple as doves. [Matthew 10:16]
