Tennessee teen gives up chance to win race to help save an injured opponent. (1)

For the second time in two years, an American teenager has made an inspirational sacrifice on a cross country course after a Tennessee high schooler abandoned a chance to win a race to help out a distressed competitor in his midst.

As reported by the Memphis Commercial Appeal and a handful of other outlets, East Memphis (Tenn.) Cooper Yeshiva High School senior Seth Goldstein stopped running on the second lap of a cross country race when he saw a competitor from Germantown (Tenn.) High collapse. While he had been right on the heels of the race's lead pack, Goldstein immediately aborted his chance at a late push to win in favor of helping a fellow teen after he turned to see the fallen runner and noticed that he had blood spilling out of his mouth.

Luckily, Goldstein knew exactly what to do. The 17-year-old ran over to the stricken teen, who had gone into seizures and was nearly choking on his own blood. Goldstein rolled the Germantown student onto his side so he wouldn't choke on his own blood, then mobilized those around him to go and get more help.

"Honestly, I was in shock," Germantown cross country parent Jessica Chandler, who was the first to join Goldstein on the scene, told the Commercial Appeal. "But this guy was taking complete control. He was like, 'You -- call 911. You -- go get some ice.' He turned him on his side. I thought he was a parent or an EMT.

"He was so competent and kind. When the boy started to come out of it he just kept saying, 'You're going to be OK. We're here. We're with you. You're going to be OK.'"

No tax, no blessing: German church insists on levy. (1)

The road to heaven is paved with more than good intentions for Germany's 24 million Catholics. If they don't pay their religious taxes, they will be denied sacraments, including weddings, baptisms and funerals.

A decree issued last week by the country's bishops cast a spotlight on the longstanding practice in Germany and a handful of other European countries in which governments tax registered believers and then hand over the money to the religious institutions.

In Germany, the surcharge for Catholics, Protestants and Jews is a surcharge of up to nine percent on their income tax bills... For religious institutions, struggling to maintain their congregations in a secular society where the Protestant Reformation began 500 years ago, the tax revenues are vital.

"I quit the church already in 2007," Manfred Gonschor, a Munich-based IT-consultant, said. "It was when I got a bonus payment and realized that I could have paid myself a nice holiday alone on the amount of church tax that I was paying on it." Gonschor added he was also "really fed up with the institution and its failures."

Such defections have hit the Catholic Church especially hard - it has lost about 181,000 tax-paying members in 2010 and 126,000 a year later, according to official figures.

miguel de Portugal comments: Brethren, if there is a group who needs prayer at this time it is the German Catholic Church Adminsitration. They have, in effect, given a face to the Babylon of the Book of Revelations.

The sale of the Holy Sacraments constitutes such an abomination before the Holy Eyes of God that we do not even dare quantify it.

"Gospel of Jesus' wife" fragment is a fake, Vatican says. (1)

An ancient papyrus fragment which a Harvard scholar says contains the first recorded mention that Jesus may have had a wife is a fake, the Vatican said on Friday.

"Substantial reasons would lead one to conclude that the papyrus is indeed a clumsy forgery," the Vatican's newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, said in an editorial by its editor, Gian Maria Vian. "In any case, it's a fake."

Joining a highly charged academic debate over the authenticity of the text, written in ancient Egyptian Coptic, the newspaper published a lengthy analysis by expert Alberto Camplani of Rome's La Sapienza university, outlining doubts about the manuscript and urging extreme caution.

The fragment, which reads "Jesus said to them, my wife" was unveiled by Harvard Professor Karen King as a text from the 4th century at a congress of Coptic Studies in Rome last week.

miguel de Portugal comments: Of course, we do not need the Vatican's opinion on this to know that such concept (Jesus' wife) is a fabrication, but we do find it amusing that the authors and defenders of the one of the greatest historical and religious frauds, the Donation of Constantine (2), are passing judgement on fraudulent documents. They do not seem to be aware that their credibility, in the eyes of those who matter, was lost centuries ago.

We Praise God that He has protected the Pristine Catholic Faith from the Administrators of the Church who have caused more damage to humanity - physical and spiritual - than Attila the Hun ever did.

Creating peace and lasting security with decent life for all, although a great and a historic mission can be accomplished. The Almighty God has not left us alone in this mission and has said that it will surely happen. If it doesn't, then it will be contradictory to his wisdom.

Europe still is set on breaking the sovereign-bank link. (1)

Europe's determination to break the link between sovereign states and their banks remains intact despite a statement from three powerful EU finance ministers on Tuesday that appeared to cast doubt on the idea, Ireland's finance minister said.

Germany, the Netherlands and Finland issued a joint statement that appeared to unravel much of what was agreed at a European Union summit in June, when leaders paved the way for the direct recapitalization of problem banks.

"It's not that what was said was irrelevant, and of course it is significant, but there are other views and the view outlined by the Commission is the official position of the community," Michael Noonan told parliament on Wednesday, adding that countries were advancing their negotiating positions.

miguel de Portugal comments: What the European Union decided, which is what caused the European Markets bounce back, follows: (translating from TIEMPO Magazine, September 14, 2012; pp 49-50)

The European Central Bank (ECB) will acquire (buy) short term national debts in the secondary markets. Such debt relief will be subject to strict norms and conditions. Norms and conditions which will have to be negotiated again were there prior terms and conditions in place.

In addition, the ECB under the leadership of Mr. Draghi, is scheduled to, starting on 2014, begin supervising, controlling and sanctioning when necessary, all private banks of the Euro zone - regardless of their size.

The die has been cast but the pretense of negotiations continue to pollute the air waves and waste ink.

We are only sharing this with our readership as a matter of general interest regarding how the "Saviours" are trying to save the world. In reality it does not matter - God will have the Last Word.

Clashes erupt as thousands of Greeks protest austerity. (1)

Greek police clashed with hooded rioters hurling petrol bombs as tens of thousands took to the streets of Athens on Wednesday in Greece's biggest anti-austerity protest in more than a year.

Violence erupted after nearly 70,000 people marched to parliament chanting "We won't submit to the troika (of lenders)" and "EU, IMF Out!" on the day of a general strike against a new round of cuts demanded by foreign lenders.

"We can't take it anymore - we are bleeding. We can't raise our children like this," said Dina Kokou, a 54-year-old teacher and mother of four who lives on 1,000 euros a month. "These tax hikes and wage cuts are killing us."

miguel de Portugal comments: When it is least expected, the "pot will boil over" just as it did when the French Revolution (2) went into High Gear.

Brethren, take my word for it: The whole thing has become so predictable for me, thus boring, that, if it were not because it is the Will of God that we continue with these alerts, warnings and exhortations for the benefit of all, you would never hear from me again.

I certainly feel like the author of todays' first reading at Mass:

The difference is that whatever is done for God, even if it is nothing new, thus boring, is meaningful and rewarding for that very reason: God.

Chemist's inflated resume gives lawyers new doubts. (1)

Revelations that a chemist at the center of a scandal at a Massachusetts drug lab might have lied about her educational background have given defense attorneys new grounds to challenge her credibility.

Annie Dookhan, whose alleged mishandling of drug samples at the lab has thrown thousands of criminal cases into question, testified under oath that she holds a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Massachusetts and also listed that degree on her resume. But school officials say they have no record of her receiving an advanced degree or taking graduate courses there.

"If, in fact, she falsified her education or qualifications, we are even more deeply concerned about what she might have done in terms of testing the drugs," said Anne Goldbach, forensics services director for the Committee for Public Counsel Services, the state's public defender agency.

State police say Dookhan tested more than 60,000 drug samples submitted in the cases of about 34,000 defendants during her nine years at the lab. She resigned in March amid an internal investigation by the Department of Public Health.

miguel de Portugal comments: With this kind of "checking credentials and backgrounds" records, which is repeated more often than you would like to know, can you imagine how many true enemies of the State are already imbedded in key areas of the Nation just waiting the "Go Ahead" to bring the US to its knees?

As we do not tire of repeating: Our only security is God to which we now add: Do not wait to "activate it" until, like with the five virgins with empty lamps did, it is too late.

As Spain tries to meet its budget targets, it has been forced to introduce one austerity measure after another.

miguel de Portugal comments: Reporting from "the ground" : Know that what you will see in the Slide Show is not an exageration at all.

When you get to the slide of the street person rummaging in the trash bin know that: For the "benefit" of the street people, the trash bins are being equipped with locks so that the homeless do not have access to their contents any more - for their own good, of course!

Last week there was a TV special in one of the main Spanish TV stations (we saw that announcement but could not possibly view the program - so painful was the preview) showing how many women and men have had no other choice than to become prostitutes to survive.

Keep in mind that Spain ranks as the 4th biggest economy of the Eurozone and, of course, the center of Opus Deism.

and since Portugal is even in worse shape, take a look as to how the bad news are being handled by some people....

Gold is one of Portugal's fastest growing exports. (1)

Portugal's gold exports soared 147 % in February and March, representing 133 million Euros ( 172 million US dollars) in sales outside the country, when compared to same period last year.

Data released by the Instituto Nacional de Estatísticas (INE), the national statistics institute, also revealed that the value of gold exports in those two months equated to more than a quarter of the total sales made last year. The export of this precious metal has recorded considerable growth in the last four years, a phenomenon that can be explained by the financial crisis and rising gold prices.

Portugal has seen three-digit growth in its gold exports since 2008, when they were up 384 %, in 2009 205 %, in 2010 112 % and in 2011 140 %. In this four-year period, gold exports amounted to 513 million Euros (over 660 million US dollars).

miguel de Portugal comments: We have checked and the massive increase is not primarily due to the increase in the price of gold. What the above is telling us is that the affluent Portuguese are changing their Euros for gold bullion and then taking it out of the country.... and certainly not to Spain!

Restrictions on religion rise around the world. (1)

Legal limits and social pressures against religion have risen to the point where three-quarters of the world's population live in states where practicing their faith is restricted in some way, a new study said on Thursday.

Restrictions on religion, ranging from a Swiss ban on minarets to Islamist attacks on churches, rose in all major regions of the world during the study period from mid-2009 to mid-2010, the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life survey said.

"A rising tide of restrictions on religion spread across the world between mid-2009 and mid-2010," the 86-page survey said. "Because some of the most restrictive countries are very populous, three-quarters of the world's approximately 7 billion people live in countries with high government restrictions on religion or high social hostilities involving religion, up from 70 per cent a year earlier," the survey further reported.

miguel de Portugal comments: The problem has never been religion; the problem has always been fanaticism which is what should not be tolerated anywhere and penalized everywhere.

It is that type of excuse that one of the "Saviour Groups" will try to use to ban religion.

Yesterday we noted that: The Catholic Church in the Australian state of Victoria has revealed its clergy were responsible for more than 600 "shameful and shocking" cases of child sexual abuse dating back to the 1930s. (1)

Then we noticed that the news report did not encompass the whole of Australia but only the state of Victoria.

It logically follows that the more than 600 "shameful and shocking" cases of child sexual abuse dating back to the 1930s occurred in an area which has only 24.5 % of the population of Australia. What are they waiting for to reveal the abuses perpetrated upon the remaining 75.5 % of the population? Someone to catch them with the proverbial hands in the cookie jar?

According to Wikipedia Australia has an estimated population of 22,737,609 (2) while the state of Victoria has 5,574,500 (3)

That is how easy it is to bamboozle (4) the general public.

Reporter's Introduction: Some of the information in the following is from personal observation; some the stories told to me by victims and eyewitnesses. Long ago I was personally threatened not to speak of some of these things. Note: the topic of the Order of the Arrow might warrant it's own brief document, if desired.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has always presented itself in an unrealistic manner. The element which sticks in the minds of most Americans is the flag-waving, extremist patriotism associated with the BSA.

The memory of the BSA as 'hawks', supportive of US war efforts is strong in the mind of most Americans. In W.W.I and W.W.II Boys Scouts sold war bonds - in public; in full uniform. Usually with incredibly profuse use of the US flag as a prop. In both wars, the boy members ran scrap drives to support the war effort. And served as adjuncts to law enforcement and the military in air raid drills, etc.

Not every American supported these wars. And even if they saw the necessity for US involvement, the association of the BSA with these things was strong - and often viewed negatively. Yet the publicity (i.e. propaganda) in movies and tv made it appear that the BSA had 100% public approval.

Contrary to what the BSA would have you believe, their "patriotism' did not equal vast tides of rising membership. In the late 40s, their numbers started to drop. (1) WHY? This was the era of rabid anti-Communist fanaticism, led by Archbishop Fulton Sheen and Catholic Senator Joseph McCarthy.

Many adults did not support this fanaticism; nor did their sons. The mental association of such fanatical fascist tendencies with the BSA would seem to be a big factor in the membership drop.

But there was another factor, which (like the above) may have escaped many, including the 'wise ones' of the BSA:

Historically, most boys quit within two years of joining. Why?

Dissatisfaction with the program? Dislike of the other boys or the adult leaders? Yes, these are key factors. When you think of all the millions of boys who joined the BSA since 1910 - and realize that most of these quit - this equals millions of dissatisfied customers.

If you have an unpleasant dining experience in a restaurant, you will not return to the establishment. And you will tell others of your experience. Thus, the restaurant will lose actual AND potential customers. And that is what has happened to the BSA. Disgruntled former members had children, whom they often discouraged from joining.

There remains another factor for the BSA: sex abuse. Many boys and adults have heard the "rumors" about Scouting. The term 'Scoutmaster' is a euphemism for a pedophile. With the recent news of large numbers of sex abuse cases gone unreported by the BSA, such rumors are not rumors.

Further - there are many more stories of 'initiation' and hazing rituals in Scouting over the past 102 years (many involving nudity....)...and nude swimming at the summer camps....all with the overt, or at least tacit approval of adult volunteer and professional Scouters. (2)

Did anyone in the professional management of the BSA realize that perhaps many boys do not like such activities? That boys could be traumatized? That they might have grounds for legal action? That what they were knowingly allowing to occur (for decades) was immoral, illegal, and against the Scout Oath and Law? (3)

Epilogue

As if to make matters worse, the BSA has a pseudo-Masonic 'honor society', the Order of the Arrow. It is open to both boy and adult members of the BSA.(4) It is a literal secret society, whose ceremonies and passwords are closely guarded.

Founded in 1915, its rituals are taken from the first three degrees of regular Masonry, cloaked in American Indian regalia. Complete with secret handshakes, ritual knocking, passwords, etc. Each subsequent ceremony explains more of the "real" meaning of the Order. Like receiving "more light" in Masonry as one progress through the degrees.

For much of its history (5), its Gnostic initiation rituals included a blasphemous parody of Baptism and Holy Communion for the 1st degree or Ordeal Honor. To achieve the 2nd Degree of Brotherhood, one underwent a (literal) bloodletting ritual (to 'seal' their membership). For the 3rd Degree (Vigil Honor), in the ceremony, the 'sign of the Vigil' one is taught is to hold the fingers in a downward triangle on the lower stomach, pointing down to one's genitalia. The symbol of the Vigil Honor is that downward triangle with three arrows, as if a 'trinity'. As Vigil is the final level of membership, thus the "full meaning" is revealed.

While Ordeal and Brotherhood rituals have been 'sanitized' in recent times, the Masonic symbolism is still there. As many adults involved in the Order of the Arrow are involved in some aspect of Masonry, one might think it is almost a recruiting ground for boys. (6)

The BSA has gone to great lengths to 'hide' the darker aspects of these matters. Members are not told its true history, and these things are only spoken of in whispers.

(1) In reaction to this post war membership decline, the BSA lowered the joining age from 12 to 11 in 1949, and heavily marketed the Cub Scout program (for boys ages 8 to 10, previously a limited 'pilot program'). Thus artificially inflating their numbers. They would soon discover that most Cub Scouts never went on to join the Boy Scout program - leaving more dissatisfied customers in their wake.
(2) From observation and the testimony of many, these are not rumors. Such hazing included (but was not limited to): spanking, bondage, corporal punishment, and sexual abuse. Or lowering a boy head first into a latrine...
(3) Did the exalted leadership of the BSA ever consider that boy subject to any type of abuse can potentially grow up to act out abuse on other innocent youths?
(3) Order of the Arrow - (The writer holds the 3rd degree or Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow, and is well acquainted with its history.)
(5) For decades, across the country, induction into the Order of the Arrow often involved hazing and humiliation; making college fraternities look tame by comparison.
(6) Masonic Scouters and Demolay Conference - This raises some interesting questions about those Catholic priests who are involved in the Order of the Arrow.

Australian Roman Catholic Church admits child sex abuse. (1)

The Catholic Church in the Australian state of Victoria has revealed its clergy were responsible for more than 600 "shameful and shocking" cases of child sexual abuse dating back to the 1930s.

The Archbishop of Melbourne, Denis Hart, said the figures were "horrific" - though campaigners said the number of victims could be as high as 10,000.

The church has revealed to a parliamentary inquiry that its complaints department has upheld 618 complaints of abuse in the past sixteen years. The inquiry was announced after it emerged that 40 victims in the state had committed suicide.

"We were very slow to take victims seriously, to listen to what they said and what had happened to them, to believe their accounts," said the church's spokesman, Father Shane Mackinlay.

"Our submission [faces] the truth of those sort of numbers and the horrific extent and the horrific consequences for each of the victims represented by the numbers... Where there was absolutely dramatic and appalling rates of abuse in the 1970s and 1980s, that's dropped off extraordinarily."

However, experts said the number of the church's victims could number in the thousands because only a small fraction of those sexually abused are believed to report the crime.

miguel de Portugal comments: If that "Pandora's Box" were to be opened in Portugal and Spain, the entire Roman Catholich Church would finally collapse under the weight of the horrors uncovered. Invoking the Words of Jesus:

It is impossible that scandals should not come: but woe to him through whom they come. It were better for him, that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should scandalize one of these little ones. [Luke 17:1-2]

May God deem such exposure the appropriate penance for their crimes.

The "general decree", effective from September 24th (1c), excludes non-payers from Communion, Confirmation and Confession or belonging to a Catholic congregation. Catholic funerals will also not be possible "if the person who has left the church has not shown any sign of remorse before death".

The church says non-payment violates an obligation on its members to make a "financial contribution that allows the church to fulfill its role".

Germany's church tax has its origins as compensation for church property seized by state authorities in the early 19th century. Two centuries on, the tax, calculated as up to 8 per cent of income tax, raises approximately €5 billion (over 6 billion US dollars) annually for the Catholic Church; the Lutheran church receives €4 billion (over 5 billion US dollars). It is collected by the state tax authorities and forwarded on to churches for a handling fee.

Anyone unwilling to pay can fill in a form at a state office. German bishops interpret this as a conscious break with the church but the Vatican said this step was not evidence of a clear "schism" and grounds for excommunication.

In a compromise with the Vatican, bishops will ask priests to write to anyone planning to leave, warning of the consequences and inviting them to meet.

Tragedy meant big money for NY minister. (1)

Before the Sept. 11 attacks, the Rev. Carl Keyes was a little-known pastor of a small New York City congregation searching for members and money.
When the twin towers fell, his fortunes changed.

Donors poured $2.5 million into the minister's charity to help 9/11 victims. More opportunities to raise relief money would come later, with at least another $2.3 million collected for efforts along the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast, in the poorest corners of West Virginia and Tennessee, and even in remote African villages. Tens of millions more flowed through his fingers from the sale of church properties.

But Keyes, a one-time construction worker, did more than help the needy with the millions donated - he helped himself.

According to financial records, internal correspondence and interviews with former employees conducted by The Associated Press, Keyes blurred the lines between his charities, his ministry and his personal finances while promoting himself as an international humanitarian:

— Keyes diverted large sums donated for 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina into his cash-starved church, then used charity and church money to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in personal credit card bills and other debts, documents show. — He failed for years to file required federal and state reports showing how much money his charities received and spent.

— He used large church donations from a wealthy supporter to pay his sons' private college tuition.

Coptic Scholars doubt and hail a reference to Jesus' wife. (1)

When Karen L. King, a historian of early Christianity, announced this week that she had identified a fragment of ancient Coptic text in which Jesus utters the words "my wife,"she said she was making the finding public - despite many unresolved questions - so that her academic colleagues could weigh in.

And weigh in, they have. A few said that the papyrus must be a forgery. Others have questioned Dr. King's interpretation of its meaning. Some have faulted her for publishing a paper on an item of unknown provenance. And many have criticized her decision to give the scrap of papyrus the attention-getting title "The Gospel of Jesus's Wife,"as if it had equal weight to other, lengthier texts that are known as Gospels.

But even some of those casting doubt are also applauding her work. Many scholars said in interviews that they were excited by the discovery, because if it is genuine, it suggests at least one community of early adherents to Christianity believed that Jesus was married.

"It's obviously an important find,"said Carl R. Holladay, professor of New Testament studies at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

However, he added, "The circumstances in which it's come to light really require all scholars to be really cautious about how we proceed."

Dr. King has reiterated that the fragment is not proof that Jesus was married because it was most likely written three and a half centuries after his death, making it historically unreliable. She has emphasized that the fragment is merely a glimpse of a discussion among early Christians about whether their savior was married or celibate.

miguel de Portugal comments: It amazes us that Biblical "scholars", as well as most of those who earn a living (and pretend to earn laurels too) as theologians, have no spiritual depth at all. How can anyone produce any good fruit in any area associated with matters of faith when they are spiritually dry - not to say dead?

If anyone learns a foreign language without learning it within its cultural background - even right now - the errors in its use would be many and sometimes serious. Even within the same language - there are so many cultural subtleties that it is imperative to know "how it works" in whichever country you intend to use it. In spiritual matters the disconnect is even greater.

To even bother to discuss if Jesus was celibate or not is as stupid as seriously considering producing dehydrated water - unless, of course one does not believe that He was the Son of God. Then, any New Testament "scholar" who does not believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God should find something else to do since, without that reality, the New Testament really has no value; not even historical value.

Who would care about some alleged prophet who went around ranting and raving claiming that he was god when he was not. No one, with a reasonable intellect, could care less.

We have heard many conferences by allegedly renown Biblical Scholars whose faith, if any, is purely intellectual thus rendering them useless as Biblical scholars. We could actually make a proverbial living by taking each of those conferences and present a multitude of conferences dismantling every "theo-logic" used by said "scholars".

But then again, why should we be surprised? Look at the political leaders of most world powers. Look at the Administration of the Roman Catholic Church - most don't even believe what they promote.

Arctic ice shrinks to all-time low; half 1980 size. (1)

In a critical climate indicator showing an ever warming world, the amount of ice in the Arctic Ocean shrank to an all-time low this year, obliterating old records.

The ice cap at the North Pole measured 1.32 million square miles on Sunday. That's 18 percent smaller than the previous record of 1.61 million square miles set in 2007, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colo. Records go back to 1979 based on satellite tracking.

"On top of that, we're smashing a record that smashed a record," said data center scientist Walt Meier. Sea ice shrank in 2007 to levels 22 percent below the previous record of 2005.

Ice in the Arctic melts in summer and grows in winter, and it started growing again on Monday. In the 1980s, Meier said, summer sea ice would cover an area slightly smaller than the Lower 48 states. Now it is about half that.

Man-made global warming has melted more sea ice and made it thinner over the last couple decades with it getting much more extreme this year, surprisingly so, said snow and ice data center director Mark Serreze.

"Recently the loss of summer ice has accelerated and the six lowest September ice extents have all been in the past six years," Serreze said. "I think that's quite remarkable."

Benedict XVI in Lebanon: 1700th anniversary of the Battle of the Milvian Bridge - "Remember the promise made to Constantine!" (1)

A month from now we will celebrate the seventeen-hundredth anniversary of the appearance to Constantine of the Chi-Rho, radiant in the symbolic night of his unbelief and accompanied by the words: "In this sign you will conquer!" Later, Constantine signed the Edict of Milan, and gave his name to Constantinople.

It seems to me that the Post-Synodal Exhortation can be read and understood in the light of this Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, and more particularly in the light of the Chi-Rho, the two first letters of the Greek word “Christos”.

This is more than simply picturesque language: it is a pressing appeal to act concretely in a way which configures us ever more fully to Christ, in a way which helps the different Churches to reflect the beauty of the first community of believers; in a way like that of the Emperor Constantine, who could bear witness and bring Christians forth from discrimination to enable them openly and freely to live their faith in Christ crucified, dead and risen for the salvation of all.

"Fear not, little flock" (Lk 12:32) and remember the promise made to Constantine: "In this sign you will conquer!" Churches of the Middle East, fear not, for the Lord is truly with you, to the close of the age!

Fear not, because the universal Church walks at your side and is humanly and spiritually close to you!

God grant that all the peoples of the Middle East may live in peace, fraternity and religious freedom!

As you should know by now, Constantine's "conversion" (2) was a desperate act to use the unifying strength and widespread of the Christian faith throughout the Empire, to hold the Roman Empire together..... and then.... in the Christian Church's Administration Babylon the great, the mother of the fornications, and the abominations of the earth. [Rev. 17:5] was born.

Babylon's first act was the lie of the Constantine Donation (3) and it never stopped lying since.

Had Constantine act had indeed been the result of Divine action, the Roman Empire would not have ended in the year 476 A.D., barely 151 years after Constantine (not the Pope) presided the Council of Nicea on 325 A.D.

Now the forerunner of the False Christ (4) is using Constantine to shore up an institution which, after 1,600 years of abuses and degradation, has more in common with satan than it ever did with God.

We thank God for those few luminaries throughout the centuries - like Gertrude, Teresa de Jesus, Francis, Juan Bosco, a small handfull of Popes- whom He used to insure that the pristine Catholic Faith (5) reached His children when it was most needed - now! Do not ever forget that even satan must serve God - always - without exception.

Russian asteroid crater revealed to be filled with over $1 quadrillion of diamonds. (1)

Call it the Soviet Union's most valuable cold war secret. This past weekend, Russia declassified the existence of what could very well be the richest diamond field in existence, located in the depths of a 62-mile diameter asteroid crater known as Popigai Astroblem in Siberia.

The diamonds found in the Popigai Astroblem are known as "impact diamonds." They're created when a meteor strikes a graphite deposit, as happened there an estimated 35 million years ago. Impact diamonds are significantly harder than normal diamonds, and are best suited for industrial or scientific use.

Given that diamonds can sell for $2,000 per karat with unusually large diamonds going for as much as $20 million, a discovery of "trillions of karats" could value this hole in the quadrillions of dollars. Of course, a diamond discovery of this magnitude is almost sure to have a serious downward impact in the per-karat price should full-scale mining operations ever begin.

miguel de Portugal comments: As a Certified Diamond Appraiser - and obviously well acquainted with the industry from the early seventies through 1991 - we are sure that the powerful diamond cartel, which, incidentally, has been proping up the diamond prices for a long time, may be experiencing a collective ulcer.

Now not only Russia controls all of the travel to and from the International Space Station with Earth, but also has control of the proverbial "girl's best friend" and an invaluable industrial tool.

First ever Etruscan pyramids found in Italy. (1)

The subterranean pyramids found in Orvieto, Italy could offer a unique insight into the mysterious Etruscan culture. Stairs carved into the wall can be seen at left. Carved into the rock of the tufa plateau --a sedimentary area that is a result of volcanic activity -- on which the city stands, the subterranean structures were largely filled. Only the top-most modern layer was visible.

"Within this upper section, which had been modified in modern times and was used as a wine cellar, we noticed a series of ancient stairs carved into the wall. They were clearly of Etruscan construction," David B. George of the Department of Classics at Saint Anselm, told Discovery News.

After going through a mid-20th century floor, George and Bizzarri reached a medieval floor. Immediately beneath this floor, they found a layer of fill that contained various artifacts such as Attic red figure pottery from the middle of the 5th Century B.C., 6th and 5th century B.C. Etruscan pottery with inscriptions as well as various objects that dated to before 1000 B.C.

"At this level we found a tunnel running to another pyramidal structure and dating from before the 5th century B.C. which adds to the mystery," George said. Indeed, the Etruscans have long been considered one of antiquity's greatest enigmas.

According to Bizzarri, there are at least five Etruscan pyramids under the city. Three of these structures have yet to be excavated. "I would say that there is nothing like these structures on record anywhere in Italy," Bizzarri said.

According to George, the underground pyramids could represent some sort of a religious structure or a tomb. In both cases, it would be a discovery without precedent. "Most likely, the answer waits at the bottom. The problem is we don't really know how much we have to dig to get down there," Bizzarri said.

Iran commander warns Israel and the US against attack. (1)

The top commander in Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard warned Sunday that "nothing will remain" of Israel if it takes military action against Tehran over its controversial nuclear program.

Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari said Iran's response to any attack will begin near the Israeli border. The Islamic Republic has close ties with militants in Gaza and Lebanon, both of which border Israel.

Iran has in the past made reference to the destruction of Israel but his comments at a Tehran news conference were unusually strongly worded and detailed.

Gen. Jafari also told a news conference in Tehran Sunday that if it is attacked, Iran will no longer be committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, under whose terms U.N. inspectors visit Iranian nuclear sites. He said however that this does not mean that Iran would build a nuclear weapon.

The Boy Scouts of America could face a wave of bad publicity as decades of records of confirmed or alleged child molesters within the U.S. organization are expected to be released in coming weeks. (1)

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Times reported the organization failed to report allegations of sex abuse of scouts by adult leaders and volunteers to police in hundreds of cases from 1970 to 1991. In some cases, the Boy Scouts helped the accused "cover their tracks," the paper said.

The story was based on a review of 1,600 internal Boy Scouts case files the newspaper said it obtained that detailed accusations against confirmed or alleged child molesters within the youth organization.

About 1,200 "ineligible volunteer" files dating from 1965 to 1985 are set to be publicly released under a June order by the Oregon Supreme Court, including some already reviewed by the newspaper.

Halliburton's misplaced radioactive cylinder. (1)

Somewhere in West Texas is a 7-inch radioactive cylinder that Halliburton would like to find. Anyone who comes across it is advised to keep their distance.

The oil field services company lost track of the device, which is used to assess potential sites for hydraulic fracturing, on Tuesday (Sept. 11) while trying to transport it from Pecos to a well site near Odessa 130 miles away. A special unit of the Texas National Guard has now stepped in to aid Halliburton in a search for the cylinder, according to Bloomberg.

"It's not something that produces radiation in an extremely dangerous form," said Chris Van Deusen, a spokesman for the Texas Department of State Health Services. "But it's best for people to stay back, 20 or 25 feet."

The neutrons emitted by the cylinder have a biological impact 10 times more powerful than X-rays and the distance at which they would be dangerous to humans would depend on how much of the radioactive material is contained in the device, Hei told Life's Little Mysteries.

The movie producer's identity. (1)

More details are now known about the producer of the movie. In a conversation with Wall Street Journal reporter, the producer presented himself as a 52-year old Israeli-born California real estate developer named Sam Bacile. He said he was Jewish, and that movie was funded by donations from 100 American Jews who, together, put up the $5 million movie budget. Each one of these claims is false.

The producer is a 56-year old Egyptian Christian Copt named Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, from Cerritos, California. He has a long rap sheet for various frauds. He spent two different stints in jail, each for about one year, the last one in 2009 for bank fraud. The Los Angeles Sheriffs Office says Nakoula has used many aliases in his long criminal career, among them: Mark Basseley Youssef, Yousseff M. Basseley, Nicola Bacily, and Malid Ahlawi. These names were all listed as aliases in the 2009 bank fraud indictment. Other court documents listed additional aliases used by Nakoula, among them: Thomas J. Tanas, Ahmad Hamdy, and Erwin Salameh.

He raised the money for the film from Christian Copts in Alexandria.

Imagine this scenario: While in Muslim countries the video ridiculing the Prophet Mohammed is being shown (and attributed to a Jew) a similar version could be on-line, available to mostly Christian nations, ridiculing Jesus Christ (also attributed to a Jew) and one (and attributed to fanatical Christians) where the main character is Moses instead of Mohammed or Jesus, available only in Israel.

This is yet another reminder that our only security is God; a condition which can only be secured through much prayer.

Malware (criminal virus) inserted on PC production lines, says study. (1)

Hard drive Microsoft discovered four factory fresh PCs that were pre-infected with malware. Cybercriminals have opened a new front in their battle to infect computers with malware - PC production lines.

Several new computers have been found carrying malware installed in the factory, suggests a Microsoft study. One virus called Nitol found by Microsoft steals personal details to help criminals plunder online bank accounts.

Microsoft won permission from a US court to tackle the network of hijacked PCs made from Nitol-infected computers.

In a report detailing its work to disrupt the Nitol botnet, Microsoft said the criminals behind the malicious program had exploited insecure supply chains to get viruses installed as PCs were being built.

The viruses were discovered when Microsoft digital crime investigators bought 20 PCs, 10 desktops and 10 laptops from different cities in China.

White House 'Big Dig' ending, but what comes next? (1)

The White House Big Dig is finally wrapping up, but the Big Reveal is proving to be a pretty big letdown. After nearly two years and $86 million worth of noisy and disruptive construction, the West Wing has emerged from its visual seclusion remarkably unchanged. And deep underground, whatever has been built there remains shrouded in mystery.

The construction project - officially a long overdue upgrade of White House utilities - began in September 2010 with the excavation of a huge, multistory pit in front of the West Wing... A tall, green construction fence sprang up that blocked America's most famous office complex from public view.

But now the fence has come down, revealing the familiar whitewashed sandstone facade and the lone Marine guard who stands watch at the entrance to the West Wing lobby.

Bulldozers have covered up the hole. Contractors have repaved the asphalt driveway. National Park Service crews are mostly finished re-grading, re-sodding and replanting. Their goal has been to return the area to its original appearance.

The following two part report is presented here to remind all of you -again - that we are as vulnerable as the proverbial "naked jaybird".

GPS is a navigation and timing system of satellites that circle Earth and transmit signals to receivers on land, sea and air to provide precise information on the receivers' locations and clock offsets. Lesser known is its ubiquitous presence in, for example, commercial and military aircraft navigation, control of the power grid, cell phone towers and even automated stock trades.

With that said....

Professor Todd Humphreys of the University of Texas is making a lot of people nervous. First he and his team demonstrated their ability to circumvent the signals a drone flying over the university stadium was using to plot its course, causing it to nearly crash into the ground, before suddenly saving it from certain destruction.

And as if that wasn’t enough to make the point that drones flying using unencrypted GPS signals are vulnerable to spoofing, surely another demonstration he and his team gave for representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Homeland Security drove the point home. They were very easily able to fool a drone in a test at White Sands Missile Range, with an inexpensively made device, into following the commands given by his team on multiple occasions. (1)

From cars to commercial airplanes to military drones, global positioning system (GPS) technology is everywhere -- and Cornell researchers have known for years that it can be hacked, or as they call it, "spoofed." The best defense, they say, is to create countermeasures that unscrupulous GPS spoofers can't deceive.

Therefore....

Researchers led by Mark Psiaki, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, got to test their latest protections against GPS spoofing during a Department of Homeland Security-sponsored demonstration last month in the New Mexico desert at the White Sands Missile Range. The much-publicized June 19 demo of a mini helicopter's GPS signal being spoofed was led by Todd Humphreys, Ph.D. '08, now an assistant professor at the University of Texas, Austin. Humphreys, who designed a sophisticated GPS spoofing system as an outgrowth of his Cornell Ph.D. and postdoctoral studies, also testified before Congress July 19 on the threat of GPS spoofing. (2)

In other words - an enemy could then throw the GPS guidance system into a tail spin worldwide without being affected since they would have taken the appropriate steps to function without them OR by reconverting the spoofed signals to the correct ones in a format that only they can use.

A Missouri lawyer who early on wrote a dishonest spin on the case that became a template for excusing him (from which Bill Donohue takes his talking points) is Opus Dei. The seemingly incompetent therapist, hand picked by Finn, who "counseled" Fr. Ratigan over the phone and misdiagnosed him is Opus Dei. All over the internet and Facebook, Opus Dei numeraries and super-numeraries are closing ranks and defending Finn, who is one of their own. It’s shameful.

GoDaddy (a major internet server) goes down, and a hacker takes credit. (1)

A supporter of Anonymous, the loose confederation of rogue hackers, claimed responsibility on Monday for an attack that brought down GoDaddy, a Web hosting service, and the sites of its customers.

GoDaddy's site was out for several hours Monday afternoon, as were many of the Web sites belonging to its 10.5 million customers.

"We're aware of the issues affecting our site," Elizabeth Driscoll, a GoDaddy spokeswoman, said. "We're still working to figure out what happened and determine the number of Web sites impacted."

"This is potentially the largest kind of problem you could have on the Internet," Mr. Miller said. "GoDaddy is the largest company in the domain industry thanks to its colorful Super Bowl commercials."

Mr. Miller estimated that GoDaddy managed 52 million domain names and hosted about 5 million Web sites on its servers.

GoDaddy was previously the target of two notable DDoS attacks, one in 2007 and another in 2009.

miguel de Portugal comments: This gives you an idea of how vulnerable the Internet is. In one fell swoop 52 million domain names are blocked and all pages associated with said name disappear from the internet . Even if the Host company which "serves" one's pages is still working, it does not matter - once the Domain Name Registrar (like GoDaddy in this case) is shut down the pages will disappear.

For example, if the name mgrfoundation.org had been registered with GoDaddy, our pages would have disappeared from the Internet even though the Server was up an running.

A hacker claims responsibility while GoDaddy claims it was an in house technical failure and only God knows what really happened. What we know is that the hacker option is the least of the two evils. If a company as important to the Internet users as GoDaddy can internally fail so miserably without the appropriate back up and remain ignorant as to what happened the Internet is in REAL trouble. One can attempt to fire wall a hacker but an inside failure due to ineptitude cannot be avoided that easily.

An Israeli filmmaker based in California went into hiding after his movie attacking Islam's prophet Muhammad sparked angry assaults by ultra-conservative Muslims on U.S. missions in Egypt and Libya, where the U.S. ambassador was killed, along with three American members of his staff.

Speaking by phone Tuesday from an undisclosed location, writer and director Sam Bacile remained defiant, saying Islam is a cancer and that the 56-year-old intended his film to be a provocative political statement condemning the religion. "This is a political movie," said Bacile. "The U.S. lost a lot of money and a lot of people in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we're fighting with ideas."

Bacile, a California real estate developer who identifies himself as an Israeli Jew, said he believes the movie will help his native land by exposing Islam's flaws to the world. "Islam is a cancer, period," he said repeatedly, his solemn voice thickly accented.

The two-hour movie, "Innocence of Muslims," cost $5 million to make and was financed with the help of more than 100 Jewish donors, said Bacile, who wrote and directed it.

It looks like the socialist new French President received "one of those visits" that causes a 180 deree change on a plotician's promises and plans.

As French President François Hollande outlined new taxes and spending cuts while promoting reforms to turn the economy around — word leaked out that France’s wealthiest man, Bernard Arnault, was heading for Belgium in a rumored tax dodge. (1)

At first, the timing could not appear to have been worse for the national morale and Mr. Hollande. His tax hikes run 20 billion euros, his spending cuts number 10 billion euros, and his Socialist government must cut public service jobs. In addition, he will hit those with direct salaries over 1 million euros ($1.3 million) with a 75 percent tax.

The core idea is austerity with the added element of growth, seen in Scandinavian-style “flex-work” plans that cut the amount of time French workers stay unemployed.

miguel de Portugal comments: As you may recall, we amply discussed how "they" moved Heaven and Earth to prevent the election of a Socialist President in France - even at the expense of Strauss-Khan's political carreer, not to mention personal life. Nonetheless, come "hell and high water", a Socialist President was elected and then, from the proverbial blue sky, he changes his program to match that of the Opus Dei's Spanish government. The same 180 degree flop that we recently saw the formely meek and bound by the militray Egyptian President take.

Remember, when we write "they", it refers to any one of the three groups (2) who are determined to Save the World. If the sport fans would understand the drama that is unfolding on the World Stage, they would, hencefort, find any sports match boring, very boring.

Santorini volcano fills with most magma since last eruption - a 100% increase. (1)

Santorini volcano, whose eruption 3,600 years ago wiped out Minoan settlements on the Greek island and in Crete, has begun to fill with molten rock and expand the most since its last eruption from 1939 to 1941.

The chamber of liquid rock, or magma, beneath the volcano expanded by 10 million to 20 million cubic meters from January 2011 to this April, (that is a 100 % increase) a University of Oxford-led team wrote in the journal Nature Geoscience. That's as much as 15 times the size of London's Olympic Stadium, the university said separately.

The expansion of liquid rock has pushed Santorini up by 8 to 14 centimeters (3 to 5.5 inches), according to the university. "It would be unwise to assume that the present state of unrest will not end in an eruption."

Santorini alternates between explosive eruptions that occur every 10,000 to 30,000 years and smaller, more frequent dome - forming eruptions separated by as little as 14 years, according to the paper. The volcano had its last "significant" eruption about 70 years ago, the authors said.

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church used a Sunday prayer service and a state TV interview to argue that the church he presides over is under attack from foes he said fear its post-Soviet revival and want to destroy its places of worship.

Kirill suggested "opponents" were trying to derail the post-Soviet resurgence of Russian Orthodox Christianity, the dominant faith since tsarist times, and warned: "We will not stop."

Who would want these people to gain (political and financial) control again? Only satan would gain from it.

Commentary on a recent News Report

With reference to your recent post (1) about the "junk DNA" which turned out to be very important upon closer examination...

The case made in the news story is a little overstated, but the attitudes of scientists most definitely are not.

When I was a graduate student, we were taught that mammalian genomes accumulated repeats of non-coding DNA sequences (what is called "junk") because they could tolerate it, and had no reason to prevent it. Maybe it even helped to enhance evolution. But nobody thought the sequences were necessary. And in fact, substantial variation there doesn't seem to have any big impact on people with that variation.

Then came the development of the new field of epigenetics, where the whole genome is now understood to participate in the packaging of genes to make sure only the right ones are left accessible to transcription. Thus, a skin cell only has the basic genes needed for maintaining its identity as a skin cell, and everything else is tightly shut off. And the "junk" is what does this. A little bit more or less of it doesn't seem to matter much, but overall it is essential.

The most striking example of attitudes I can remember is a visit we got from Franklin Stahl, already advanced in age. He was a Nobel prize winner who was party to a classic experiment that proved DNA replicated semi conservatively. He then worked on E. coli, a gut bacterium that was a good model to study gene regulation at the most basic level. He gave his talk, where he delighted in pointing out the efficiency the bug used in its genome – barely a single "wasted" letter in the DNA code, meaning everything either encoded protein or bound to regulators of the gene. I don't remember the exact question I asked him, but it begged him to compare the system to human DNA.

His reply was classic: "But E. coli is much more highly evolved than humans." It drew laughter, but he made clear that he deeply believed our genome was mostly junk, precisely because it had so much non-coding DNA. We see now how wrong he was, and yet in his time, he was a "rock star" among molecular geneticists. Yet they never learn. The latest is always considered the ultimate, rather than yet another incomplete piece of the puzzle.

Power failure darkens extensive area across Cuba. (1)

A large swath of Cuba was plunged into darkness on Sunday night in a widespread power failure, the cause of which was not disclosed. Electricity went out from the city of Ciego de Avila in southeastern Cuba all the way to Havana, 250 miles to the northwest, and beyond to the westernmost province of Pinar del Rio.

Phone calls around the island indicated power was returning in many areas, but not yet in the Cuban capital, which is the Communist country's biggest city with 2.2 million people. There were unconfirmed reports that the outage was caused by the failure of a generating plant in Cienfuegos on Cuba's southern coast.

Weather on the island was clear and calm. No one at the state-owned electrical company could immediately be reached to explain the outage.

miguel de Portugal comments: This would normally be "no news" since the Castros have turned back Cuba's clock at least one century. However, since the Russians have strategic nuclear missiles in place in Cuba since at least last May, the news of such a massive black out is indeed newsworthy.

Monti calls for an EU summit to confront populism. (1)

Italian Premier Mario Monti yesterday proposed a special European summit to confront growing populism in the face of the continent's financial crisis.

"We are in a dangerous phase," Monti said on the sidelines of the Ambrosetti Forum on Lake Como after meeting with European Union Council President Herman van Rompuy. He said a divisive populism is present in nearly all eurozone countries, and that it aims to divide nations at a moment when the impetus is for greater integration to help safeguard the euro currency and restore health to the EU's economy.

"It is paradoxical and sad that in a phase in which one was hoping to complete the integration instead there is forming a dangerous counter-phenomenon that aims at the disintegration," Monti said, according to the LaPresse news agency.

miguel de Portugal comments: Now that the two remaining countries (Spain and Italy) that had to be subjugated, have been, the subjugated countries seem to counterattack by turning lose the "falling apart" specter.

As we have said in the past - from a supernatural and a natural (by being immersed in day to day Europe) perspectives - to achieve what "they" intended to when "they" invented the European Union, "they" will have to force it. What we are seeing now are citizens reacting to such tactics. Something that anyone, with a real feel for the multitude of European spirits, should have known from "day one".

For example - Spain is held together as a nation by a thread. If there were more time before the End of These Times - which there is not - Spain would have another, and worse, civil war. Belgium - the seat of the European Union government - was without a government for over a year. The nationalistic factions could not even agree on the time of the day!

Germany (and some Nordic countries) view the Mediterranean group - Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Greece - as the spoiled children of the family, who rather party than buckle down to work.... which, by the way, is not entirely without foundation.

By the way, we had to use the Jamaica Observer to find the English version of the news report posted above since it was not showing in EURO NEWS - the official News Agency of the European Union...... Oh, yes. Presenting a united front.... Read on....

Van Rompuy calls Mexico Preachy as EU seeks former luster. (1)

European Union President Herman Van Rompuy said he has had enough of "countries like Mexico" telling him how to resolve the euro area's sovereign-debt crisis.

"I'm fed up with being in the dock," Van Rompuy said today at a European political party meeting in Florence, Italy. "Countries like Mexico - I don't want to be unpleasant and mention other countries - but other countries like Mexico are preaching to us and telling us what we should do in Europe. And these countries have got civil war at home."

European leaders are renewing efforts to present a unified front after more than two years of crisis talks and failed remedies for the region's debt turmoil. They are rallying behind European Central Bank President Mario Draghi and his plan, announced yesterday, to buy sovereign bonds issued by distressed governments in the 17-nation euro area.

miguel de Portugal comments: The "countries like Mexico" which Mr. Van Rompuy doesn't "want to be unpleasant" to include the US at the top of the list.

The poor man is attempting to "present and unified front" when even member countries are not unified themselves.

It is the last thing the residents of Chongqing would have expected to see. But the Yangtze river, which runs through the city in south-western China, turned a bright shade of orange-red.

The waterway where the Yangtze met the Jialin River provided a fascinating contrast as the red started to filter into the other river.

In spite of Germany's opposition, Mr. Draghi (translates to: the dragons), the President of the European Central Bank, got his way and subjugated the last two remaining, and nominally Catholic, nations of the original European Union block - Spain and Italy.

An unlimited bond buying plan to save the Euro was unveiled. (1)

The European Central Bank is to buy the government bonds of struggling eurozone countries' like Spain and Italy to lower their borrowing costs, but there will be strict conditions attached.

Seeking to back up his July pledge to do whatever it takes to preserve the euro, ECB President Mario Draghi said the new plan, aimed at the secondary market, would address bond market distortions and “unfounded” fears of investors about the survival of the euro.

The ECB chief stressed they would only help countries that signed up to and implemented strict policy conditions, with the eurozone's rescue fund also buying their bonds, and preferably with the IMF involved in designing and monitoring the conditions.

miguel de Portugal comments: Seeral times we discussed in the July News Commentary page (2) - actually exposed - the reason why the world investors were hammering Spain and Italy provoking great economic problems in both countries. They were the only two remaining nominally Catholic countries that composed the original European Union Block. "They" had to, somehow, force Spain and Italy to submit to strict financial controls by the IMF (3), European Central Bank and European Commission, now known as the Troika.

"Their" manipulation has been masterful - we must admit.

(a) Behind the scenes manipulate markets to drive borrowing costs for Spain and Italy to record and unsustainable levels; which
(b) Was not really warranted as we explained and showed before; but which
(c) Forced Spain and Italy to start fulfilling the "prophecy" explained in (a) above - fall into economic chaos; then
(d) Almost a month ago Mr. Draghi announced that the Central European Bank would do everything and anything to help Spain and Italy in order to "save the Euro"; which
(e) Caused a market "teaser" - The manipulated markets gave a sign that they would respond "joyfully" to whatever Mr. Draghi proposed; which
(f) Gave Mr. Draghi enough momentum to get past Germany - the No. 1 opposer to Mr. Draghi's plan - his plan to subjugate Spain and Italy; logically
(g) The markets became euphoric - breaking record after record - thus "confirming" Mr. Draghi's "wisdom".

Now, "for the kill" : The European Central Bank will buy - without limits - government bonds issued by Spain and Italy. The catches are that: (a) The countries have to request it; (b) The countries will be, in essence, financially intervened by the Troika like the other three nominally Catholic countries of the original European Block (Ireland, Portugal and Greece) have.

How can the leaders of Spain and Italy not request the rescue from the European Central Bank? After all, just the possibility has driven the markets wild. Logically, the citizens of both countries will clamor for the rescue forgetting the price that they will pay - essentially - foreign intervention.

Indeed it is an evil plan but without a doubt - brilliant! Not even the BRIGHT RED FLAG blowing in the wind can be seen by the sheep being led to the slaughter house. The "by-word" of the plan created by Mr. Draghi, "the savior", is: We will do whatever it takes to save the Euro. If one then considers the fact that Germany is the European Union country that has the most to lose if the Euro "is not saved", yet, is is Germany - the Chancellor as well as the head of the German Central Bank - who vehemently oppose Draghi's "salvation" plan, something is not right at all.

Bottom Line: Opus Dei lost this battle. Will they allow the one in the US (Presidential Elections) to be lost too?

Amazing, truly amazing to see the known "script" unfold before our eyes.

Pope Benedict XVI says the Book of the Apocalypse, provides Christians with a vision of a Church fully in communion with Jesus Christ in prayer. (1)

"The more and the better we pray with constancy and intensity, the more we are assimilated to him, and the more he enters into our lives to guide them and give them joy and peace. And the more we know, love and follow Jesus, the more we feel the need to dwell in prayer with him, receiving serenity, hope and strength for our lives," he explained.

In the second phase of the first part of Revelation we then witness how "the relationship with Jesus Christ is developed further," Pope Benedict taught.

"The Lord makes himself visible, he speaks and acts, and the community, increasingly close to him, listens, reacts and accepts."

Finally, in the third phase, the Pope pointed to a "Church in prayer" that, in accepting the word of the Lord, is "transformed."

"The assembly listens to the message, and receives a stimulus for repentance, conversion, perseverance, growth in love and guidance for the journey."

miguel de Portugal comments: This, brethren, is the alleged "giant theologian" interpreting the Book of Revelations as we would expect the precursor of the False Christ to do.

Scientists have published the most detailed analysis of DNA since the completion of the human genome project in 2003.

The so called Encode programme has revealed that parts of DNA which were once dismissed as "junk" turn out to play critical roles in controlling how cells, organs and other tissues behave.

miguel de Portugal comments: As usual - what "scientists" cannot explain at first is either dismissed as fraudulent or a freak of nature (like the DNA parts which were once dismissed as "junk").

By the time they realize that God does not make "junk", in spite of their own selves, it will be too late. What a true scientist would have originally said is: "Certain parts of the DNA elude our understanding. As we continue our research, we may be able to find what is their function(s)."

Yes. It was involuntary by both parties. Groeschel was revealing what was within him without his brain censor functioning and the NCR's interviewer, as well as the individual who had to approve the publication, suffered the same temporary dysfunction. This is not a guess, but we will not give further details on the mechanism.

Stoner voters targeted in Dutch election campaign.(1)

With slogans like "Don't let your vote go up in smoke!", owners of the free-wheeling cafes in the Netherlands, where bags of hashish are sold alongside cups of coffee are mounting a get-out-the-stoner-vote campaign ahead of next week's Dutch election.

The campaigners are calling on their sometimes apathetic dope smoking clientele to get out and support political parties that oppose the recently introduced "weed pass" that is intended to rein in the cafes known as coffee shops and close them altogether to foreign tourists.

At a coffee shop in The Hague, a member of staff selling weed wears a T-shirt emblazoned with a modified Uncle Sam style poster calling on smokers to "Vote against the weed pass on Sept. 12." Under the new system, coffee shops become member-only clubs and only Dutch residents can apply for a pass to get in. The cafes are limited to a maximum of 2,000 members.

The online campaign offers cannabis and marijuana users voting advice by showing which political parties support dumping the "weed pass," which came into force in the southern Netherlands earlier this year and is intended to roll out over the whole country in coming years.

A breakthrough pill said to reduce the risk of contracting HIV by up to 73%, has been given the green light by the US health regulator, the FDA.

Known as Truvada, this is the first ever pill to be approved by the FDA for prevention of HIV in healthy but high risk individuals or for those who may be in sexual contact with HIV positive partners.

"Today's approval marks an important milestone in our fight against HIV...." said FDA commissioner, Dr. Margaret A. Hamburg.

Any use of chemical or bacterial weapons by government forces in Syria would trigger a "massive and lightning fast" response from the West, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said on Monday.

Paris and Washington have said that despite the deadlock at the United Nations Security Council over taking firm action to stem the crackdown by President Bashar al-Assad's army on a 17-month-old uprising, the use of chemical weapons would be justification for a military intervention.

Syria acknowledged in July that it had chemical and biological weapons, prompting U.S. President Barack Obama to threaten "enormous consequences" if Damascus even moved such weapons in a menacing way.

miguel de Portugal comments: Now that the world has been served notice of what it will take to justify a military intervention in Syria (spilling over into Iran), it is a matter of "who will pull the trigger". If we have learned something from history, it may not necessarily be the Syrian regime.

Sun Myung Moon, self-proclaimed messiah who founded Unification Church, dies at age 92. (1)

The Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the self-proclaimed messiah who turned his Unification Church into a worldwide religious movement and befriended North Korean leaders as well as U.S. presidents, has died, church officials said Monday. He was 92.

Moon died Monday at a church-owned hospital near his home in Gapyeong, northeast of Seoul, two weeks after being hospitalized with pneumonia, Unification Church spokesman Ahn Ho-yeul told The Associated Press. Moon’s wife and children were at his side, Ahn said.

Moon, born in a town that is now in North Korea, founded his religious movement in Seoul in 1954 after surviving the Korean War. He preached new interpretations of lessons from the Bible. The church gained fame - and notoriety - in the 1970s and 1980s for holding mass weddings of thousands of followers, often from different countries, whom Moon matched up in a bid to build a multicultural religious world.

The church was accused of using devious recruitment tactics and duping followers out of money; parents of followers in the United States and elsewhere expressed worries that their children were brainwashed into joining. The church responded by saying that many other new religious movements faced similar accusations in their early stages.

In later years, the church adopted a lower profile and focused on building a business empire....

The following may explain the real reason ...the 'smoking gun' so to speak ...the National Catholic Register pulled the text (0) of the Groeschel interview so quickly.

This link (1) is to the Commonweal blog, which seems to have reproduced the complete interview with Fr. Benedict Groeschel. Originally published in the National Catholic Register - then retracted.

This is the key paragraph:

" (Interviewer) What has the Church learned in terms of preventing this?

(Groeschel) We've been screening seminarians for decades. That's nothing new. I've been doing it for 40 years, for our old community — the Capuchins — for the diocese, for our small religious community. … It takes a lot of time — four or five hours — to do a psychological screening, and I don't have a lot of time. There were times in the past when I'd do 30 of them. I'd do it for our community and our sisters. Also, it's very expensive. Now, I never got a nickel, but it costs between $800 and $1,200 for a psychological battery. I used to teach psychological evaluations..."

Groeschel is saying that he - personally - did the psychological evaluation and screening of candidates for the priesthood for 40 years for: a) the Archdiocese of NY, b) the Capuchin order, and c) the two orders he founded: the Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Renewal.

How many of the clerics he screened for priestly ministry have turned out to be sex abusers? More then a few (2). The moral and legal ramifications of this are great. (3) A psychological evaluation should have shown indications of emotional and psychological factors which are 'warning indicators' of an actual or potential sex abuser.

The reason the retraction may strictly be 'damage control' because it will limit their liability and exposure via this information.

miguel de Portugal comments: Another "Falling Star" from OD's EWTN. We expect - and pray for - considerable legal fall out from Groeschel's involuntary confessions. The damage these individuals are doing to the Faith is of such magnitude that escapes quantification

(2) It is impossible, at this moment, to say with any certainty how many of the clerics whom he evaluated may have been sex abusers. Some were never (successfully) accused. Some may have simply left the clergy, fleeing possible accusations.
(3) He is not, nor ever has been, a licensed psychologist in New York nor any other state, by his own admission. This has significant bearing on his qualification to conduct psychological evaluation and screening for clerics. The potential legal ramifications of this for the Archdiocese of NY, the Capuchins, and his orders in re any clerical sex abusers he may have screened is a 'gift' to any smart attorney.

San Francisco's next archbishop charged with DUI. (1)

The San Diego city attorney's office says the Roman Catholic archbishop-designate of San Francisco has been charged with two misdemeanors stemming from his arrest for allegedly driving under the influence.

The city attorney's office said Friday that the Rev. Salvatore Cordileone is accused of one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving with a blood-alcohol level greater than the legal limit of .08 percent.

The 56-year-old Cordileone is currently bishop of Oakland and is scheduled to be installed as archbishop of San Francisco on Oct. 4.

miguel de Portugal comments: Frankly, we are glad that the tacit immunity that these Faith destroyers have had for the last 1600 years has essentially come to an end.

Now, regarding the charges, we are puzzled. He was charged with two offenses: "One count of driving under the influence and One count of driving with a blood-alcohol level greater than the legal limit of .08 percent."

Considering that by (Wikipedia) definition of "Driving under the influence" is:

Driving under the influence (DUI), driving while intoxicated (DWI), drunken driving, drunk driving, drink driving, operating under the influence, drinking and driving, or impaired driving is the act of driving a motor vehicle with blood levels of alcohol in excess of a legal limit ("Blood Alcohol Content", or "BAC"). Similar regulations cover driving or operating certain types of machinery while affected by drinking alcohol or taking other drugs.

Is the charge of "driving under the influence" not associated with the influence of alcohol, but the influence of something else (besides satan, of course)? Maybe it is just a legal point.

The answer to "Maybe it is just a legal point" seems to be "Yes". While I am not a resident of California, I do know that in my state when someone is charged for drunk driving there seem to be two charges cited:

a) General implications of driving while intoxicated (or similar verbiage).
b) Blood alcohol greater then .08 percent.

From what I can surmise, one is always charged with 'a' if you fail a field sobriety test, and a policeman observes you to be apparently 'under the influence'. Item 'b' is the result of failing to pass the blood alcohol test in a hospital. Item 'a' has charges based on whether 1st, 2nd offense, etc. Item 'b' - the charges depend on how far over the legal limit you are.

In many states if you refuse to take the blood test, it is an automatic 1 year suspension of drivers license, regardless of other charges.

Though I would not rule out the possibility of intoxication via some other substance (e.g. marijuana), the above explanation may prove to be correct.

Mr. Obama with support from 46 percent of voters and Mr. Romney at 45 percent, with 4 percent preferring a third candidate and 5 percent undecided. A flurry of polls have come out in the past week showing the two major-party candidates as virtually tied in popular votes with Mr. Obama leading in most cases by 1 or 2 points. (1)

* While the latest Gallup Poll reports:

Nearly 60 percent of Americans expect President Obama to defeat Mitt Romney in this year's presidential election, according to a poll released Monday.

The USA Today/Gallup poll of about 1,000 adults found that 58 percent expect Mr. Obama to be reelected while just 36 percent think he will lose to Mr. Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. The 22-point gap in the poll, which asked respondents to answer objectively and independently from their own preferences, is slightly larger than the 20-point margin in the president's favor from an identical survey taken in May.(2)

Two researchers have found the widespread use of sophisticated, off-the-shelf computer espionage software by governments with questionable records on human rights. While the software is supposedly sold for use only in criminal investigations, the two came across evidence that it was being used to focus on political dissidents.

The software proved to be the stuff of a spy film: it can grab images of computer screens, record Skype chats, turn on cameras and microphones and log keystrokes. The two men said they discovered mobile versions of the spyware customized for all major mobile phones.

The software has been identified as FinSpy, one of the more elusive spyware tools sold in the growing market of off-the-shelf computer surveillance technologies that give governments a sophisticated plug-in monitoring operation. Research now links it to servers in more than a dozen countries... although no government acknowledges using the software for surveillance purposes.
