Points to Ponder About

The purpose of Points to Ponder About was to stimulate thinking that would draw the disoriented Faithful back to God and away from the hypocritical duplicity of some religious institutions which are destroying the little faith left on earth. (For a more detailed explanation, see Points to Ponder About - Purpose). What used to be posted in this section has been integrated in For Your Information and Reference.

Note: This 'Point to Ponder About' section was prepared in the years 2005-2009. Some linked documents external to this domain may have been removed from the Net, or moved to different locations, since then.

Do you ever wonder.... why, some laws and traditions which were quite applicable in the Old Testament became null and void in the New Testament?

Jesus Himself responded to that question when speaking of divorce: He saith to them: Because Moses, by reason of the hardness of your heart, permitted you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. [Matthew 19:8]

Do you ever wonder.... why, in general, our prayers are offered in the first person plural form (we, our, us)? The answer lies in our document explaining man's role in the Salvation of Mankind. However, there is no harm, from time to time personalizing a prayer for greater personal impact (how that works, we know, thus our statement, but is not for us to discuss here and now). For example, the Our Father certainly feels different when prayed thus:

Dear Father Who art in Heaven
hallowed be Thy Name
may Thy kingdom come
may Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven

Give
me this day my daily bread
forgive
my sins as I forgive those who trespass against me
and do not let me fall prey to temptation and deliver me from the evil one

AMEN

Do you ever wonder.... the real and only meaning that the "fear of God" has? Wonder no more! In addition, you may understand what is meant by "Working behind the scenes."

Do you ever wonder.... what is required to discern the Will of God on an ongoing basis? Wonder no more!

Do you ever wonder.... what brought upon the terrible plagues of the Dark and Middle Ages which decimated the Christian population of Europe (i.e. the Black Death of 1348-1350 which killed about 1/3 of Europe) while in many cases inflicting little direct [but plenty of indirect (*)] damage to the Jewish communities?

Another misunderstanding of the teachings of Jesus, specifically when responded to the scribes and Pharisee's question: Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the ancients? For they wash not their hands when they eat bread. [Matthew 15:2]

Do you ever wonder.... what Jesus meant when He said to the women, who bewailed and lamented him as He carried His cross to calvary: For if in the green wood they do these things, what shall be done in the dry? [Luke 23:31]

He meant that if the Word of God walking amongst men (green wood) was rejected in such manner, what was going to happen when He would not be walking amongst us, that is when it "were in the dry" (dry wood)?

We can look back in history and see what happened in the world as "it dried" and is now practically rejected - which is why He then said, referring to the End of These Times: 28... Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not over me; but weep for yourselves, and for your children. 29 For behold, the days shall come, wherein they will say: Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that have not borne, and the paps that have not given suck. 30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains: Fall upon us; and to the hills: Cover us. [Luke 23:28-30]

This is why St. Paul underscored it.

Do you ever wonder why... if the Successor of Peter is chosen by the Holy Spirit of God, acting through the Cardinals in the Conclave, there is never 100 % agreement amongst the Cardinals?

Being that there is never such level of agreement, we must assume that some of the Cardinals are deaf to the prompting of the Holy Spirit of God; in which case, how can anyone trust a Church Administrator of that level, when not even the Holy Spirit of God can get through to them with the right information? What if the one elected voted for someone else than himself?

No, this is not anti Catholicism; this is to point out the absolutely ridiculous man-made traditions which the Faithful has become a slave to. This brings to mind what Jesus told the Church Administrators of His time which we can all read in Matthew 23 and Luke 11

Perhaps the way it should have been done is: Bishops elected by his future flock, then, Bishops elect the Successor of Peter. Of course, this is just a moot point. It is too late now.

Do you ever wonder... why Jesus, who must have been as perfect a boy and son as anyone could possibly imagine, stayed at the Temple of Jerusalem [Luke 2: 41-50] chatting with the doctors of the Law - apparently defying Mary and Joseph's authority?

The answer may be found when one reads Luke 2: 41-42: And his parents went every year to Jerusalem, at the solemn day of the pasch, and when he was twelve years old, they going up into Jerusalem, according to the custom of the feast, and having fulfilled the days, when they returned.... and one remembers that the copyists of the Sacred Scriptures, under order of their masters, tried every possible angle to remove Jesus identity as a Jew.

Most likely they took advantage of that visit to Jerusalem to mark Jesus' Bar Mitzvah.

Bar Mitzvah

According to Jewish law, when Jewish children reach the age of maturity (12 years for girls, 13 years for boys) they become responsible for their actions. At this point a boy is said to become Bar Mitzvah (Hebrew: "one to whom the commandments apply," or literally, son of the commandment); a girl is said to become Bat Mitzvah ("one to whom the commandments apply," or literally, daughter of the commandment)

Before this age, all the child's responsibility to follow Jewish law and tradition lies with the parents. After this age, the children are privileged to participate in all areas of Jewish community life and bear their own responsibility for Jewish ritual law, tradition, and ethics.

We understand that the Scripture states that Jesus was 12 years old and according to what we read above He should have been 13, but let us not split hairs - after all, Jesus was born on 4 B.C. What gives away the possible cover up of Jesus' Jewish identity by the copyists is that "...he said to them: How is it that you sought me? did you not know, that I must be about my father's business?" [Luke 2: 42]

That is the most logical explanation for his apparent strange behavior at disobeying Mary and Joseph: Once Jesus " became responsible for His actions" - "one to whom the commandments apply," or literally, son of the commandment. Also Before this age, all the child's responsibility to follow Jewish law and tradition lies with the parents. After this age, the children are privileged to participate in all areas of Jewish community life and bear their own responsibility for Jewish ritual law, tradition, and ethics.

Do you ever wonder... why, of the major religions of the world, Christianity seems to be the most persecuted religion since the French Revolution (1789-1799) ?

Quite simple.... As we approach the End of These Times (not of the world) satan is fully aware that his activities in the world will be severely curtailed. He also knows that Christianity, most specially the Catholic Faith, contains the key elements to minimize humanity's suffering as it navigates through these times and, since his objective is to make The Elect suffer as much as possible (for he cannot cause a soul to be lost), he has to attack in all fronts and with full force.

Of course, he can certainly count with the Vatican in his effort to make Christianity dismissed and/or hated by more and more of humanity - after all, they know each other's face, don't they?
