Have you heard that... scientists now claim that if the students believe that God controls their destiny, trying to be better isn't going to help them actually be better, resulting in less effort? That is: Thoughts of God make us slackers. (1)
"This is the first empirical evidence that simple reminders of God can diminish some types of
self-regulation, such as pursuing one's goals, yet can improve others, such as resisting
temptation" study researcher Kristin Laurin of the University of Waterloo in Canada, said in a
statement.
Even for those without a personal belief in God, U.S. culture is saturated with religious references and imagery that could impact them, Laurin said. The study's results were independent of the participants' religious beliefs. Even without knowing it, these signs and signals can have a psychological effect.
A Gallup poll in May found that more than nine out of 10 Americans believe in God. These numbers drop for groups of younger Americans, liberals, those living in the Eastern United States, those with postgraduate education and political independents. However, belief in God is nearly universal among Republicans and conservatives and, to a slightly lesser degree, in the South.
The researchers think the lack of effort in the "religious-primed" group could be dictated by a belief that fate is in God's hands. miguel de Portugal comments: What Ms. Laurin just did was to clearly identify the reason why Europe was plunged into the Dark Ages.
"Dark Ages" is a historical periodization emphasizing the
cultural and economic deterioration that supposedly occurred in Europe following the decline of
the Roman Empire. The label employs traditional light-versus-darkness imagery to contrast the
"darkness" of the period with earlier and later periods of "light". The period was characterized
by a paucity of historical and other written records for much of the period, rendering it obscure
to historians.
Originally, the term characterized the bulk of the Middle Ages, or roughly the 6th to 13th centuries, as a period of intellectual darkness between the extinguishing of the "light of Rome" after the end of Late Antiquity, and the rise of the Italian Renaissance in the 14th century. (2)

Do notice that the Dark Ages covers the period right after Christianity became the Imperial Religion (3) as well as the official "Boogey Man" to keep humanity under control.
What the Renaissance did was to counteract the worst parts of the failed Evangelization of post Constantine Christianity and allowed the advancement of civilization. Unfortunately, man could not use such freedom well and we have ended up in a Hi-Tech, chrome plated sewer, with virtual brilliant lights but, in realty, in greater darkness than Europe found itself from the 6th to the 13th centuries.
Unfortunately, the results from Ms. Laurin research will not be used to admit and to correct the wrongs of the past (the failed Evangelization). Instead, they will be used to further demonize religion.

....Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia defended his pro-death penalty position during a speech at Duquesne University School of Law. (1)

According to John Gehring's blog on the Faith in Public Life Web site, Scalia's lecture was met
with protesters who oppose the death penalty. The lecture took place just days after the
controversial execution of Troy Davis.
During the speech, Scalia noted the presence of the protests, and said that he found no contradiction between his Catholic faith and his support of the death penalty. He added,
"If I thought that Catholic doctrine held the death penalty to be immoral, I would resign," he said. "I could not be a part of a system that imposes it."
It is moments like these that I would love to hear the voice of Archbishop Chaput, who is as passionate about the pro-life movement as he is about making his voice heard in government and the public square. Chaput is most famous for denying communion to Catholic politicians who are pro-choice.
A few weeks ago when Chaput was installed in Philadelphia, he proudly reasserted his belief that "cafeteria Catholics" have no place in the Roman Catholic church. "If they don't believe what the church teaches, they're not really Catholic."

miguel de Portugal comments: If it were not part of the function that I must fulfill, I would block all my senses to any and all input that may be related with the Roman Catholic Church (not the Faith but the Church which has become synonymous with Administration). Since I cannot, then I offer my disgust and revulsion as a sacrifice for the consolation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. After all, if I feel the way I do as we witness how every effort that They have made to help us avoid what now is unavoidable, has been trampled upon, how must They feel?
Let us continue to pray and console Them. It is the least we can do.

Their disconnect with the Scriptures they pretend to uphold and teach is complete. Even in the year 2005, in a letter (4) from the highest ranking Cardinal in Spain, we were informed that the failure of the Evangelization was the result of the Faithful's resistance and that not of the Evangelizers.
It is not our intent to "keep harping" on this issue for the sake of running down the Church Administration. Our intent is to help one and all to understand why God will allow what He Will (5) upon the Church He founded upon Christ. Remember what He allowed upon the Temple and upon His chosen ones in the year 70 AD? What awaits His Church and the next-to-the-last cut of the Elect, (6) will be far worse. The true Faithful must be ready - spiritually and psychologically - to live through it, thus the reason for which God caused that we exist.

As we approach All Saints Day.... we wish to
remind you that an indulgence, applicable only to the Souls in Purgatory, is granted to the
faithful, who devoutly visit a cemetery and pray, even if only mentally, for the departed.

The indulgence is plenary each day from the 1st to the 8th of November; on other days of the year it is partial.
To help the Faithful understand the Purgatory and the situation that those poor forgotten souls, who are awaiting for their purification be completed, find themselves in, we will use a parable.
Imagine that you are in a car accident and that have been seriously wounded. You know that you will not die of the wounds, that your physical needs will be miraculously taken care of and that, through the natural course of events, you will eventually be healed, even though it might take ten years for the body to heal itself. However, if the paramedics would come and take you to a hospital, you would be well in a week or two.
How would you feel if no paramedics are forthcoming and that you just have to rely on being healed through the natural course of events regardless of how long that will take?
Think about it, and you will know how the forgotten souls in purgatory feel.
miguel de Portugal now lives in a small fortified ancient town which was originally founded by the Celts, then conquered by the Romans, etc., etc. Cable internet has not been installed because the moment the workmen start digging to bury the cables, they start finding unmarked graves or just common (mass) graves as the result of the long history of the locality. Since miguel knows how much relief can be provided to the souls of the thousands of bodies buried under every square foot of the town through prayer, it is a joy for him to pray over their long forgotten graves every single day as he walks around the town running the necessary errands.
The poor souls in Purgatory need prayers every day and not just on November 1st and 2nd.

The European financial crisis.... appears to
have been solved in the latest top level meeting of European leaders. The world Markets are
buoyant.
Thank God for this because "appearances are deceiving". By moving these leaders in the manner He has, in effect, we have greatly shortened the period that humanity will have to live in a financially collapsed world.
Allow us to explain: What caused the Eurozone financial crisis was that there is no central financial entity to manage the single currency - the Euro. Each country (and within some countries like Spain, a number on autonomic communities) have total independence in the way they handle their financial affairs - whether in taxation, deficit spending and setting debt ceilings. They answer to no one, yet, when they are about to collapse financially, as Greece and Portugal, all of the countries of the Eurozone must pitch in to bail them out, otherwise they will collapse dragging the whole Eurozone with it and, by association, the US and other world economies.
This has not been corrected because no European country will surrender their financial sovereignty to a central European government.
In easier to understand terms: Imagine twenty three families living together under one roof, sharing everything except the management of the individual family budgets, but bound to each other by a common means of exchange - shells, or paper notes, or bronze, or gold, or pebbles, etc.
They use those shells, or paper notes, or bronze, or gold, pebbles, etc. to establish commerce with the rest of their village. If just one of those families goes into a spending binge, gets very deep in debt and cannot pay, either the other nine families pick up the tab or the collectors will show up at their (common) door to repossess whatever the ten families own in community under one roof.
After countless meetings, lunches, dinners and night caps - not to mention the ever present daily televised kisses between France's Sarkozy and Germany's Merkel (this is not a joke!) - the Eurozone has not corrected that fundamental problem. What they have just done is: Rob Peter to pay (for) Paul (excesses). The problem is that "Peter" has only so much that can be robbed while Paul continues to spend money as a the proverbial drunken sailor while promising that "tomorrow he will quit".
May God be Praised as we continue to pray, for as we continue to encourage one and all. There is nothing else that humanity can do any more. It is too late now.

Wonderful explanation! How can I thank you? I had no idea at all that the Spirit of God enters the celebrant in such a manner at the moment when the wafer becomes the real Presence of Jesus, His Body and Blood.
I wish we had been taught this early on.... so many wasted years with no real understanding of what was taking place.

The Catholic Faith is the one Faith which has the greatest concentration of Divinely Revealed Truths. By no means it has them all since God is the only Plenitude of Truth, but no other Faith has as many Truths in its Spiritual Treasury as the Catholic Faith. Be it the reality of the Seven Sacraments; be it the practice of Indulgences; be it the reality of Purgatory; be it the truth about the Immaculate Conception and Assumption of Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ, True God and True Man; be it the true Petrine Ministry; etc.It is a tragedy how such immense Spiritual Treasure has been squandered in the pursuit of material treasures over the last 1,600 years of history at the expense of not fulfilling the Command of He Who established it, Our Lord and Master Jesus Christ.
If such immense Spiritual Treasure had been utilized in the manner it was intended to, the world would not be in the condition it is at the beginning of the 21st Century.
Thus, the problem has never been in the basic dogmatic teachings of the Faith; the problem resided and continues to reside in the controlling administrators of such treasure.
You ask: How can I thank you? The answers are very
simple.
First of all - Share, through word and example, the wonders of the Catholic Faith with everyone who is willing to listen. Even if most have to be satisfied with Spiritual Communion, since we consider most hosts given to the Faithful these days not properly consecrated, the Catholic Faith is the "best equipped vessel to navigate through the End of These Times".
Then, pray that we have all the Spiritual, Psychological and Physical means to continue fulfilling the Will of God until our appointed hour.

The Chinese authorities have retaliated against a bishop, recognized by both Beijing and Rome, for
not participating in the illicit ordination of the bishop of Shantou last July, even though they
had instructed him to do so.
The bishop Paul Pei Junmin of Liaoning (Shenyang) in north-eastern China, has been "suspended" from his posts of responsibility at the national and provincial levels in the state-recognized Catholic Church community in the mainland, according to UCA News (UCAN).
The Chinese authorities disciplined the 42-year old bishop by suspending him from his position as vice-President of the state-sanctioned Bishops Conference of the Catholic Church in China (BCCCC) in mid-August, according to UCAN. He was elected to that post at the National Congress of Catholic Representatives, held in Beijing, December 2010. The Holy See does not recognize the BCCCC.

comments: The problem is, as we have

billion plus Chinese citizens as they have done, and

the same: chaos.
The leadership of the People's Republic of China (PRC) are "up to speed" about the Opus Dei activities in all fronts and under all covers; therefore, the proverbial hell will freeze over before the PRC leadership allows them to even put their foot-in-the-door.
Never forget that the Roman Empire did not interfere with Jesus' activities, teachings and preaching when He walked amongst men. Pilate allowed His crucifixion because he was placed against the wall by the Temple Administrators:

We are studying the Book of Revelation in Bible Study, as I had mentioned before.
When I read it, I think God is talking about our current generation and the prophesied events which are forthcoming. So, are the False Christ, the Anti-Christ and the Beast that comes up from the abyss in Revelation 11:7, that wages war with the two witnesses - one in the same person?
Also, last evening, their was a Aurora Borealis that could been seen in the US, all the way down to Texas. This was listed as part of the Gamma Ray Burst. Are we closer to this major event than we realize? I am not sure what to say to my "sleeping and in denial" Christian family and friends, or those I know who are not practicing their faith at all. I am praying for them.

proposed the establishment of a supranational authority to oversee the global economy, saying it

In a report issued by the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, the Vatican argued that "politics - which is responsible for the common good" must be given primacy over the economy and finance, and that existing multinational institutions like the International Monetary Fund have not been responding adequately to global economic problems.
The cardinal noted that the document was timed to "make a contribution which might be useful to the deliberations of the G-20 meeting" next week, but was also directed "to the entire world." (2)

During the winter of 2009-2010, I spoke to the leaders of 3 pro-life groups, asking if I should send them a copy of my SCP articles on the population control/ecology movement.
I thought they would be interested ... and they said they were. Therefore, I sent part I to Population Research International, Human Life Review, and Human Life International.
None of them acknowledged getting the magazine, or made any other response.
This summer, I discussed with the editor of SCP whether to send these same groups part II of the story. He said I should ... and I did.
Again, no response. This silence from the three conservative "pro life" groups is telling, especially since my articles did not mention Benedict XVI or the cults within the Roman Catholic Church.

Are you aware that if.... applied Christianity
and its teachings were taken to court to give them an opportunity to prove their validity and
confirm their claims, they would be condemned as fraudulent?
No, I have not lost my mind (as many people would hope, since assassination attempts have not worked). Allow us to explain so that you, beloved brethren, can successfully defend Christianity before even the most determined anti-Christian, when the time comes.
Remember - agnostics, atheists and anti-Christians do not buy into the supernatural. They would, with a straight face, claim that the Miracle of the Sun in Fatima was a collective hallucination. Therefore, we cannot use supernatural arguments to defend the Faith; we have to use their own tools: 'ice cold reason and logic'.
This ice cold reason and logic has been before the eyes of humanity for over a millennium, but, because everything has been sugar coated by Rome, the Faithful (who have been suffering from a chronic 'sugar coma') have failed to recognize it.
We can now re-awaken the Elect, who are still asleep due to this 'sugar coma'.
As is often said in the US - "The proof of the pudding is in the eating." (1) That is: if the teachings of Jesus Christ are so marvelous, why do the Western Powers go from decadence to decadence? Why has the "Christian" world been as bloody - or even more so - as the pre Christian world? Even Alexander the Great showed more mercy and Christian ethics than the Super Christian European Rulers - Popes included.
Even a blind man can see what the Oh! so Holy Spain did in the New World (the Americas), not to mention what the Oh! so Holy British did in their own colonies, or what the other European Oh! so Holy "Christian" Powers did in Africa.
In other words - if those are examples of the Teachings of Jesus Christ in action, then, said teachings should be banned from this planet since even the history written by them proves them Guilty as charged!

We are going to use very concrete historical facts to prove that, without a shred of a doubt, the teachings of Jesus Christ are not only the perfect formula for human coexistence but also have been, in fact, proven 'in the field'.
Why did Emperor Constantine allegedly convert to Christianity? Oh, yes, the sugar-coated history claims that his conversion took place (according to a Sound of Music-style script) when Constantine saw a cross in the sky and heard (was it in stereo?) "With this sign you will conquer".
Brethren, we hate to disappoint you. This story of Constantine's conversion is just real as the story that there is a Santa Claus who drops off gifts for children on the night of December 24th-25th. It was more like: "With their sign I will conquer".
The real truth is that the teachings of Jesus Christ were not only the perfect formula for human coexistence but also had been, in fact, proven 'in the field'. Against all odds the early Christians, by applying and living the teachings of Jesus Christ, had become such an incredible cohesive and moral force throughout the Roman Empire that the only hope Constantine had to save his Empire was to embrace Christianity as the Imperial Faith.
What better proof that the teachings of Jesus Christ were the perfect formula for human coexistence than winning over a brutal Empire without bloodshed?
As you see, dear ones, the teachings of Jesus Christ have been historically proven as the only and perfect formula for human coexistence. We have already covered what happened afterward (2). In a nutshell: after Christianity aligned itself with the Empire, it morphed into Babylon the Great [Rev. 17:5] - yes, the one "...drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs" - with the nefarious results we listed above.

Hundreds of families who had babies taken from Spanish hospitals are now battling for an official government investigation into the scandal. Several mothers say they were told their first-born children had died during or soon after they gave birth.
In reality, the babies were sold to childless couples whose devout beliefs and financial security meant that they were seen as more appropriate parents.

We are beginning to discern a pattern in Spain - a pattern only discernible once one immerses oneself in their culture: many of the 'evils' usually attributed to the Franco regime can be traced back to "the Catholic church (which) continued to retain a powerful influence on public life...".
It should be noted that in Spain, "the Catholic church" is synonymous with Opus Dei. It should also be noted that, although Escriva was close to Franco at the beginning of the Franco regime, Franco eventually distanced himself from Escriva even though he could not shake himself totally free from the Opus Dei operatives who held high positions in his government. This is almost an exact parallel with the behind-the-scenes situation during the Papacy of John Paul II.
As a matter of fact, we have uncovered some very strong indications that the infamous Spanish Blue Division, which went to fight shoulder to shoulder with Hitler's forces, was allowed by Franco ('allowed' not 'promoted') in the hopes of getting these very radical Catholic elements out of Spain. "After all", the rumor has it that Franco thought, "they may get killed and I am finally free from them." It seems that Franco was beginning to fear a coup d'etat by those very radical elements, a coup that would have been masterminded by the Louis Freeh's and Robert P. Hansen's (2) of his time.
No; we are not promoting Franco's beatification. He certainly was not a saint, but we have found out that many of the evils that have been carefully and methodically attributed to Franco did not belong to him.

Right now the current Administration in Spain is coming to an end just as the Bush Administration ended: with the lowest popularity ratings and being blamed "for everything". Spain's President, Mr. Zapatero, is "very Socialist" and, as you know, Mr. Bush was "very non-Socialist." It does not matter who the figure-head is; his/her party affiliation is also irrelevant. The "Masters" will use anyone whom they can easily manipulate.

Have you heard that.... the Bishop of Kansas
City was indicted for failure to report suspected sexual abuse?

The Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph and his diocese
have been indicted on charges of failure to report suspected child abuse when child pornography
was found on a computer of a priest of the bishop's diocese. The charge makes
Bishop Robert Finn, affiliated with the conservative
Opus Dei movement, the highest-ranking Catholic official to face criminal prosecution in a
child sex abuse case.
The charge relates to child pornography charges against Father Shawn Ratigan, who is accused of taking lewd photographs of underage girls. The diocese failed to report their suspicion that Ratigan may have abused a child after discovering the pornographic images on his computer in December, 2010. It was not reported to the police until May 11, 2011.
The New York Times reports (2) that, "Stoking much of the anger is the fact that only three years ago, Bishop Finn settled lawsuits with 47 plaintiffs in sexual abuse cases for $10 million and agreed to a long list of preventative measures, among them to immediately report anyone suspected of being a pedophile to law enforcement authorities."

comments: Regardless of Ratzinger's hollow promises, this indictment will be the one
single event which will "slam on the brakes" on the continuing abuses and cover up tactics of the
Church Administration. They now know that the
alleged successors of the Apostles are not above
the law.

Super-volcanoes are the worst natural disaster the Earth can face, besides a meteor strike, said
Patricia Gregg, a post-doc at Oregon State University and lead author of a study that may have
found what triggers the massive eruptions.
Luckily, super-volcanoes only devastate the planet ever 100,000 years or so. But why they erupt has had scientists stumped, since they aren't like their puny cousins, the regular volcano, which are triggered by internal precursor eruptions.
But there seems to be no internal precursor to a super-volcano eruption. The trigger comes from above.
"Instead of taking the evidence in these eruptions at face value, most models have simply taken small historic eruptions and tried to scale the process up to super-volcanic proportions," said Shanaka de Silva, an OSU geologist and co-author of the study, in a press release.
"Those of us who actually study these phenomena have known for a long time that these eruptions are not simply scaled-up Mt. Mazamas or Krakataus - "the scaling is non-linear. The evidence is clear," said de Silva.
The researchers believe that super-volcanoes only form under specific, rare conditions.

Be aware that..... Astrophysicists spotted pulsed radiation from Crab Nebula that wasn't supposed to be there. (1)

An international collaboration of astrophysicists has detected pulsed gamma rays from
the neutron star at the heart of the Crab Nebula with
energies far higher than the common theoretical models can explain.
The pulsed gamma rays had energies between 100 and 400 billion electron volts (Gigaelectronvolts, or GeV), far higher than 25 GeV, the highest energy radiation from the nebula previously detected. A 400 GeV photon is 11 orders of magnitude - almost a trillion times - more energetic than a visible light photon.
