Exorcism
and the Holy Scriptures
Part 6
INTRODUCTION
In the physical as well as in the spiritual worlds, knowing the enemy
is always advantageous. If you are considering praying in earnest to
receive Heavenly protection against the snares of the evil one, we
encourage you to first acquaint yourself with what the Holy Scriptures
say about evil, possessions, exorcisms, etc.

Once you know The Enemy better, your prayer accessing the Power of God
will be far more effective for your protection, and that of your loved
ones, against the snares of the evil one.
PART 6 [New Testament]
Acts 8:9-13
But there was a man named Simon who had
previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the nation of
Samaria, saying that he himself was somebody great. They all gave heed
to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, "This man is that power of God which is
called Great." And they gave heed to him, because for a long
time he had amazed them with his magic. But when they believed Philip
as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus
Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Even Simon himself
believed, and after being baptized he continued with Philip. And seeing
signs and great miracles performed, he was amazed.
Acts 19:11-12
And God did extraordinary miracles by
the hands of Paul, so that handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away
from his body to the sick, and diseases left them and the evil spirits
came out of them.
Acts 19:13-20
Then some of the itinerant Jewish
exorcists undertook to pronounce the name of the Lord Jesus over those
who had evil spirits, saying, "I
adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches." Seven sons of a
Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. But the evil spirit
answered them, "Jesus I know, and
Paul I know; but who are you?" And the man in whom the evil
spirit was leaped on them, mastered all of them, and overpowered them,
so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
And this became known to all residents of Ephesus, both Jews and
Greeks; and fear fell upon them all; and the name of the Lord Jesus was
extolled. Many also of those who were now believers came, confessing
and divulging their practices. And a number of those who practiced
magic arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of
all; and they counted the value of them and found it came to fifty
thousand pieces of silver. So the word of the Lord grew and prevailed
mightily.
Matthew 12:43-45
"When
the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through waterless
places seeking rest, but he finds none. Then he says, 'I will return to
my house from which I came.' And when he comes he finds it empty,
swept, and put in order. Then he goes and brings with him seven other
spirits more evil than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the
last state of that man becomes worse than the first. So shall it be
also with this evil generation."
Mark 3:10-12
For he had healed many, so that all who
had diseases pressed upon him to touch him. And whenever the unclean
spirits beheld him, they fell down before him and cried out, "You are the Son of God." And he
strictly ordered them not to make him known.
Luke 4:31-37
And he went down to Caperna-um, a city
of Galilee. And he was teaching them on the sabbath; and they were
astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority. And in the
synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon; and
he cried out with a loud voice, "Ah!
What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to
destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God." But Jesus
rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and
come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him down in the
midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm. And they were all
amazed and said to one another, "What
is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean
spirits, and they come out." And reports of him went out into
every place in the surrounding region.
Let us pray...
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us
in the day of battle, be our safeguard against the wickedness and
snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou,
Prince of the Heavenly Hosts, by the Power of God, thrust into Hell
satan and all the evil spirits who prowl through the world seeking the
ruin of souls. AMEN!
