John XI : 931-935 A.D.
125. Born in Rome. Elected March 931 - died December 935.
He tried to solve the terrible intrigues of his family. Even if he was elected thanks to the
support provided by the latter, he condemned their lack of restraint.
He died at the age of 29 after many tribulations.
As a result of Alberigus intrigues (the Pope's brother), the Patriarch of Constantinople and his successors were given the pallium, which in turn was granted to all the Greek bishops without the intervention of popes.
He is buried in the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano. His pontificated lasted almost 5 years.

He reformed and reorganized monasticism and also ordered the rebuilding of the ancient Cenoby near
the church of San Paolo Fuori le Mura in Rome. He informed French and German bishops about the
phenomenon of wizards and fortune-tellers, who were supposed to perform easy prodigies.
He invited Odonus to Rome, the Abbot of Cluny, and with his help he succeeded in restoring peace between Albericus and Hugo of Provence.
He is buried in the Vatican Grottoes. His pontificate lasted about 3 years and 6 months.

Stephen VIII : 939-942 A.D.
127. Born in Rome. Elected July 14 939 - died October 942.
He supported Louis IV of Overseas against the rebellion of Frank lords. He tried to convert the
Eastern and Western powers to the holy principles of the Gospels.
He suffered the supremacy of Albericus II, a tyrant of Rome, and of supporters, since they enjoyed the imperial preference.
The face of Stephen VIII was so cruelly disfigured and wounded by them with deep cuts that he did not have the courage to present himself in public.
He is buried in the Vatican Grottoes. His pontificated lasted 3 years and 5 months.

128. Born in Rome. Elected October 30, 942 - died May 946
His life was irreproachable despite a period of turmoil. He fostered arts, reorganized
corporations and made Rome become the capital of morality.
He modified many of the rules regulating religious orders.
In 1883, at the feet of the Palatine, in Vesta atrium, a deposit of silver Anglo-Saxon coins, surely sent from England to Rome as "denarius Sancti Petri", was discovered.
Apart from the coins, also the rare fibula of a cappa pluvialis was found, bearing the inscription "Domno Marino Papa"
He is buried in the Vatican Grottoes. His pontificate lasted about 3 years and 6 months.
